Will try and get it on film too! My biggest mistake so far is forgetting to take off first!

Awesome, I hit 50 this year and this has inspired me! I used to do forwards in the 90s but then gave up windsurfing until getting back into it recently. I haven't risked a forward yet! Looking at the video, you have basically got it. If you had a small wave to jump off I think you would easily get the full rotation. You may even have to sheet out a bit at the end to avoid over rotation!
In the video, as you hit the water near the end of the loop, it looks like you are still pulling in hard with your front hand. If you want to speed the rotation up for these flat water loops, make sure you pull more on the back hand at that point, and almost push out and forward with the front hand as you go around. That will allow the front of the sail to lift more.
Basically, try to keep your weight pulling on the boom as far back behind the center of lift in the sail as possible for a fast spin that ends up upright.
Right, now that I have taken it upon myself to tell other people how to do it, I'd better put my money where my mouth is and get out there and do them again myself!

Hey Richard. Paul here from BooM.
Absolutely love your coaching there. Many thanks.
I was out yesterday full power on 4.8 and 105/ 93 and went for some forwards off medium size waves. Had to get the big balls out!!!
First time back sailing since beginning October due to no wind up here and work!!
Lots to work on with the forwards but very close to getting some consistency. So good finally having a proper ramp to launch off.
Let us know how you get on and if you fancy it send us a video and we’ll put it on the channel. 💪🤙💥

My tip from an old know-all 😬.
Biggest mistake people make in trying forwards is pulling down with the front hand or pushing away. The nose has to go up to go around. If you dip your head below the boom as you hit the ramp the unweighting happens naturally. ie dip your head(lift front hand over your head) and stay sheeted in.
Doesn't matter if you are pointing up or down wind!

This is great. We’ll put this into practice and give you a shout in the next video. 🤙💥

@@boomwindsurfing2744 Another tip is the front arm - if you watch your video on the beach your front arm is straight pushing the boom forward, but on the water your bend your front arm, pull the boom towards you and kill the rotation.

Good work Paul - how did you drop the fear-factor?

      Hey thanks.
I got over the fear factor by going for so many forwards and getting them wrong and by the time my technique is much better I no longer have any fear or thought about going for them - I just do it.
I can’t wait to get into some proper waves so I can get some height and learn to overcome any fear of being properly on the air 🤙💥
