- Driving out of Calvinia, we spotted the Akkerendam Nature Reserve and decided we had to go and explore. It has a really beautiful landscape, especially those rugged edge on the mountain tops. After that it was off to our farmstay at Sonnevleg Self-catering. The farm owner came to meet us and we followed him to our house and WOW, what a beautiful old house. The stay on the farm was absolutely stunning and we enjoyed every second. It was so quiet and peaceful, all we heard were the sheep, birds and wind blowing. It was a fantastic stay. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #calvinia #akkerendamnaturereserve #sonnevleg

Beautiful the place where I grew up.
You're so privileged to have grown up on such a beautiful farm. I'm sure you have many fantastic memories. We had such an enjoyable stay and hope to return one day. Thank you for watching.
I love me my peace and quiet and sounds of nature!!! The farm would be perfect 👌👌👌
Awesome farmstead. Love Dusty. I make teddies so enjoy your Dusty. Thank you for sharing. Travel safely.
Sonia, I too love the silence!
Dusty! You’ll be quite the adventurer!
We can listen to nothing for literally hours! 😇 Since we found Dusty on that lonely stretch of gravel, he has been on every single trip with us. He sits in the back window of the Kwid and never gets tired of looking at the clouds of dust as we make our way to all the new and exciting places! 🥰🧸
Jammer om t vloek ..maa my bek hang oop...Suid Afrika is so so mooi n pragtig ...n om t dink ek sou seker nooit oral kon ytkom ni ..
Thnx Dustbugs ❤😊❤😊!!!
Lovely place,I like the peace and quiet 👍💕
It is so quiet there, I could here you sweating.😜
It is beautiful there, wow!
And you would be accurate! 😁🥵 We also love the stark beauty of the Karoo so much, the barer the better! It's awesome to have you along for the ride! 🚗
Thank you! I love your videos.
We would go train chasing because of my dad. Its an amazing experience to stand right by the track and this snorting chuffing engine comes past. The ground shakes. Its so awesome! Its a living breathing snorting dragon. O, daai opskuif ding...that is a secretoire. sort of writing desk. My ma has one
Those were the days, but sadly all but forgotten nowadays. 😢🚂 I can see the resemblance between a dragon and a steam engine, love that comparison!
I absolutely love that house.
It is a magnificent house. We felt like we were the owners of the farm for one night! 😉 The actual owners took such great care in setting it up for guests, we can definitely recommend a visit.
I can only say l love the sound of silence stunning. The scenery was beautiful. You are really enjoying your trips Way to Go. Enjoy.
Every so often, we just have to stop and listen to nothing. And fortunately on the roads we travel and at the places we stay, there is usually plenty of silence. 😊
The first of eight trains called Makadas ran between Hutchinson and Calvinia and preceded the Touwsrivier Makadas by about 8 years. What you saw looks like a SAR Class 24 locomotive, the last Makadas on that route.
Thank you for the interesting info, I absolutely love those old loco's! 🤩🚂
Hi fantastic how's the renault kwid on gravel I'm thinking of traveling and exploring in mine as well love the videos
Don't hesitate, go for it! We chose the Kwid initially because of its ground clearance and I must say it surprises every single trip. We can't even believe the places we've been able to go with the Kwid. It is fantastic on gravel, as long as you take it slow. 🚗
@@DustBugsTravel we came to love the song coming from its gearbox. It is not a whine, but a song of compliant submission and a willingness to serve. The best way to spend a Kwid.
