SWFL Eagles ~ The Tale Of The 2 Fish & E23's Dracula Moves At Mom & Dad At The Pond 😂 3.23.24

- E23's pond adventures continue! But first we have to know the tale of the two fish and how they got to the pond! 😂 F23 flies to the nest with a whole fish and waits for E23 to fly in and claim it. The cam pans over to the church tree where E has been perched for some time. F23 starts to nibble on the fish while waiting.
M15 flies in with a partial fish and F23 immediately takes it and flies off the nest with it to the pond to eat. M15 is left waiting for E to come to the nest with F23's fish lying there. F23 starts to eat the fish when E23 flies to the ground right at her, mantles and takes the partial fish & walks up the grassy bank. M15 flies over with F23's big fish and brings to the ground and E23 runs over and mantles it, M15 goes to the pond to take a sip - happy he brought the fish to E to eat.
But F23 is not about to let two fish just lie there so she goes to the partial fish but E runs over mantling at her Dracula style claiming that one too.
F23 runs to the water next to M15 - E23 has both fish!
E23 now runs to where Mom and Dad are but stops at the water and just watches them. E23 left both fish behind. M15 goes up the bank to get F23's fish and E23 mantles & does the Dracula walk but both fish were lover to the right of them. F23 knows where the fish are and heads to the fish but E23 runs over to her mantling Dracula style. F23 picks up the fish but E23 takes it and turns around going up the bank. E will play with the fish and hop around with it, F23 starts eating one of the fish. E23 finally eats the fish happy. E23 will carry the fish in its beak and show it to Dad then will eat it - very proud of itself. So E23 got a fish, F23 got a fish and M15 just watches them eating 😂
When E23 is finished with the fish, E will fly over the pond and back up to the attic! And that is saga of the two fish! Both M15 & F23 are teaching E23 how to claim food and protect it on the ground so it wouldn't be stolen. They were being very generous in their training - if they wanted the fish themselves they would have taken it. F23 only ate after E23 claimed one fish and was content eating that one. In the upcoming weeks, E23 will learn to claim the food and fly away with it to eat - which is essential so it does not get stolen by another eagle. Thank you for watching!

Amazing parents training their baby how to protect it's food!! Thanks to the superb Lady Hawk's explanation you can just see how M15 and F23 are "pretend trying to take the fish" even watching E23 to see if E notices they have the fish!! Then dropping it when E23 notices and comes mantle. They are doing an absolutely amazing job together of parenting and especially F23 being a first time mother. Our beloved M15 picked the best ❤ ....and seeing those 2 lovebirds standing side by side as they stood at the pond keeping an eagle eye (pardon the pun lol) on E23 was just the best 😍🦅

What a great teaching today. How to mantle your food and protect it as well as doing it by the pond teaching this is where we get our fish and bathe. And to think that M 15 did this all on his own with E 21 and 22 last season. he has chosen a wonderful Partner for many seasons to come.🙏🏻🫶😘❣️ from California

She’s as big as F23 when you see them side by side and on the level. .. in fact she might be a little wider too!😊 She’s certainly a beauty‼️ ❤️ This year was great being able to watch a single eaglet again. What an awesome and really educational moment for us humans and Leo for E23 too.👏🏻👏🏻🥰🦅. I thought it was so cool that both parents ended up bringing two fish for E23 and then she comes to get the finally get the big fish and does a great job mantling the fish from both parents and does the famous Juvie Dracula move which I still think is so funny cause I takes the young look like they are bull legged.😂 However, I think that E23 is definitely getting A’s so far for all she has learned and will continue to learn. Of course, she has a veteran father in raising his young and she also has a very educated (thanks to M15) mom on how to be a mom to her young. Thank you Lady Hawk for this awesome video. From all of the trials and tribulations at the nest last year, with M15 doing all of the feeding and food providing, and the pesky owls knocking E21 and E22 out of the nest, it is good to see things this year being a lot less stressful.

What a great day for a family picnic at the pond beach ! I used to think E23 was male but after seeing this video, l think E is female. Loved the Dracula walk. Maybe being an only child is why E23 has progressed so well. Total teachings from both parents. Way to go mom & dad !!! Praying our E-baby gets a peaceful night tonight. Thank you LH for this wonderful video which is now one of my all time favorites. It was fascinating that both parents were involved with the lesson of the day for E23. After the mantling of fish number 1, then fish number 2, F23 and M15 seemed to confer with each other at the pond. “I don’t know M, I’m not sure they understand about finding food on the ground.” “I can see their confusion dear, I will go fix it” and off M goes to reinforce the lesson! I’m not sure I even saw dear Harriette participating in the school lessons after fledging, she may have, but I sure appreciate how both parents are involved with educating their “baby” and ensuring they have all the skills they need to survive on their own. Well done F23 and M❤️❤️❤️
Great video, such a treat to get this example of both parents working together to teach E23. I guess I should revise my prior opinion, E23 is looking quite large-ish, bigger than M15 now, so I guess E23 might be female!

These videos are so special to me. I absolutely love watching the interaction between E and its parents. How they are so patiently teaching it survival skills 101. It's been a joy to watch this family of eagles this season. The loss of the second eaglet was sad... and we have to accept nature's ways. Maybe it was a blessing for mom and dad to be able to devote all of their effort on E23. Since this is their first nesting season together. God bless and keep us all. Eagles and humans, too.

Extraordinary to watch this family together. Seeing M&F standing side by side at the pond, you can almost hear them speaking to one another about their next move in training their eaglet. It was so obviously a training exercise, amazing! E is just so cute, the Dracula stage is a favorite, lol! And, our Magnificent M, there will never be enough words of praise!
