John from playing this game a lot this year I can tell you when you look for team building, playing players in their role is super important for good real time sim and season as well. Finding true 3rd line role guys in the 83-84 range is super important. I have had better sims with the second line being 85-87s and 83-84s on the third. Also two way forwards from my experience this year give the best chance to win in the real time and season sim. If you can find a really good TWF to play in your top 6 it really helps your goalie sim better. Finding that top tier balanced two way forward that has good defensive and offensive awareness that can anchor a line and put up points with two other good offensive players is huge. My first and second lines in many different franchise modes had a two way forward 85+ and those lines would get super high plus minus especially in real time playoff simed runs. On the blue line getting a top 4 that is stacked is critical to a good sim. Try to get your blue line early on and locked up long term, because D men start asking for crazy money after 2-3 years because their is not many good ones. 82s AND 83S ask for 4-5M. Just something to keep in mind. To summarize I would look for TWFs DDs and PWFs those seem to help the sim the best. The perfect combo I have found is getting good two way forwards and Defensive D men to help with defense and goalie sims in normal and real time, while pairing them with an offensive coach and it seems to yield the most balanced results. People complaining about the swayman trade need to understand that in this universe, Swayman at 87 and Ingram at 85 are very comparable. Sure Swayman could grow to a 90, but why would the bruins want to wait for him to grow when they already have a 90 ovr goalie and their time to win is now? In that trade the bruins not only improved their blue line but also acquired cap space to sign another roster player.
A little tip for when you hire all your new scouts: Be sure to look through all the high-rated PRO scouts and see if they have any A+ efficiencies in any of the amateur leagues. You can snag some great scouts early on that way.
I think matching the years on the "big guys" contracts is a great idea and really narrows in on a sort of alright we have to win furing these years sort of mindset. In regards to the swayman trade- 1. It was overall a very even trade, both teams will definitely benefit in the long run. 2. Because sometimes there are buyers that have a B level coach, and those teams rarely make the playoffs. It’s hit and miss with B+, but definitely a successful strategy if the teams are rocking a mid coach 👍

Resign then, they’ll always ask for normal money. Unfortunately this doesn’t help with free agents but at least you can keep your team together

I would definitely sign Durzi long term. Hes not asking for much money for a player of his caliber and he’s only 25. You can probably get him for 5 or 6 years at ~5 million, and that’s a steal. As for Swayman, he’s asking for a lot. Since you have so much cap space and you’re probably gonna need a cap whale, you can sign Swayman to a one year deal at like $10 million+ and then try to lock him down long term at a more reasonable price.

They effectively downgrade their goaltending and bring in a bust in Soderstrom while also paying to dump Peeke who they just traded for. The only similar comparison I can think of is Schnieder for 9th but Schneider was a little older and arguably held less value than Swayman at the time. So start with 12 and start adding if the goal is to be realistic with trades.

When you go to hire your coaches, your associate/assistants ratings don’t matter very much. All you want is an A+ Powerplay rating on your associate coaches, and an A+ rating for penalty kill on the assistants.
Sometimes right after a team wins the cup they have to make tough decisions too since everyone's perceived value increases, they sometimes need to free up cap to try to repeat.

Send a player like Maccelli back and a few picks(as the centerpiece), really if your afraid of the contract, schmaltz could be a player you’d want to maximize value out of. It would be a huge organization shake up, but would bring a veteran captain experience to the lineup. Plus adds some serious physicality, whom I may say has a low trade value! Make it happen. #BRADYTKACHUKTOUTAH

I don’t agree that’s the best strategy on sending out scouts. I put 3 per region in Canada. There are far more prospects in those regions than any where else. 1 per us region. 2 in Russia. The other 6 go in Europe 1 per region. Pick the 6 regions with the best prospects.
