I'm so tired of him asking girls in abusive relationships why they didn't leave. I was stuck for a decade in one because every day he threatened to kill me. He tried a few times. He stripped me of all of my possessions, I didn't have a car, I couldn't speak to my family. He had control of my cell phone, wouldn't allow me to work or leave the house. It is possible that people can trap you for years in domestic violence. It's not easy to leave someone like that.

No. I'm sorry but no. There's no excuse for staying unless he has you locked in a cage or tied up. Being in an abusive relationship is a choice. I left my abusive relationships. And all those times I had nothing. But I made it out. I rather be homeless and poor than be abused. And anyone who stays with an abusive partner and has kids with them is just as bad as the abuser. There's multiple choices and many options. You don't have to stay in an abusive relationship. It's a choice to stay or not.
Women like her are why I was not able to get justice for my rape(s). My bf drugged and raped me unconscious. I had “not enough evidence”. And I have to live with it. Just disgusting.

Attorneys will tell you that though. It’s pretty common for them to look more favorably on couples than single parents. Courts want stability and reunification is usually quicker if both parents are together with no drug issues or criminal backgrounds. Not saying she is telling the truth but I have heard of it before so it is plausible.
