Anyone else notice at 1:11 when he asks "can I put my arms down?" The female cop said no and the male cop said yes? That type of miscommunication could get someone shot

But, like I said, it is incomprehensively irresponsible. Unless you seriously enjoy being stopped, questioned, and harassed by the police. If that's your idea of being a responsible firearms owner. Go for it ! I'm dead serious. DO IT AND SEE HOW RESPONSIBLE YOU THINK BRINGING THAT KIND OF ATTENTION TO YOURSELF IS ! I'm all about open carry. But carrying a long gun around a shopping center does seem a bit unnecessary. I have a conceal carry and I would probably go into high alert. Just be careful man.
This. Depending on where you live theres a time and a place for open carry. Are you in the woods? Go for it, maybe you are hunting, maybe you just want something to protect you should an angry bear happen upon you. Are you at the local mall or shopping center? Maybe it's time to get your concealed carry. Just because the law says you can does not mean you always should. You may have absolutely no intention of causing harm but unfortunately no one knows that for certain except for you.
“Carrying a long gun around a shopping mall does seem a bit unnecessary.” While I see your point, here is a counter. A person who wants to kill as many people as he can is able to hide his pistol and open fire once he is in position. If you really do carry and train then you know how much easier it is to operate a rifle compared to a pistol. A citizen with a rifle will likely be able to take down the assailant with one single accurate shot. Furthermore, if you’re a criminal and want to hurt as many people as possible, you wouldn’t let everyone know you have a gun. You would conceal it until you were in position. The answer is simple: we need to encourage and train regular law abiding citizens to carry weapons to the point that criminals are so outnumbered and outgunned that they wouldn’t dare try shit.
cherylfowler1234 and this is the reason the world laughs at america! The ending to the video was bullshit, if hes allowed to go dont then stop him from leaving, but being allowed to carry is also bullshit. More guns doesnt make you safe, no guns do!
Texas Penal Code § 46.02 makes it illegal for a person to intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carry on or about his or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club
at the same time kind of douche to exercise a right not needed to be exercised... Just because it's legal to carry around an AR that nobody except some attention seeking people do. This doesn't mean you should just do it... I mean literally those laws were made just because of how things were back in the day. You gain absolutely nothing except suck your own ego. And it is against the law to cause a high level of distress among the public because nobody does that (again except narcissists) so it 100% is breaking the peace and just causing trouble. You gain nothing and everyone else has to stress about dying at a mall, it's literally unnecessary.

A gun can defend you or defend others or it can harm you and harm other's. But for a gun it's up to the user what he will do good or bad, a fucking suicide vest is just for killing.
Well considering the mass shootings recently, would you be a little worried about someone carrying a rifle in public or will you just be the next statistic in a pre-meditated massacre?
Robert Noonan The law says he can do it though. The majority of people who own assault rifles never shoot anyone. And we’re supposed to be innocent until proven guilty.
@@HighSkiez I fully support people being innocent until proven guilty. And yes, the law says you can open carry in Washington. (In fact, RCW 9.41.270 provides that it is unlawful for a person to carry, exhibit, display or draw any firearm in a manner, under circumstances, and at a time and place that either manifests intent to intimidate another or that warrants alarm for the safety of other persons. A violation is a gross misdemeanor. This statute is very fact-specific, but in general, merely walking around in public with the gun properly secured in an exposed holster does not constitute a violation. Seattle PI, Casey McNerthney). However, if asked why you're carrying around a rifle and you respond with "oh i'm just using my second amendment rights to carry this around", it can be a bit suspicious. He also refused to identify himself, and just made it harder on the officers to work with him. I don't agree with him being arrested, that was stupid. But it's also kinda weird carrying a rifle around just to fulfill my rights. It's like saying "I'm gonna call everyone a cuntalicous dickhead because it's my first amendment right"
The question i have after seeing this, if you did not expect to have the police after you while carrying a AR rifle in the open.. Personal i dont understand why you do carry a AR when you could just carry a .45 insted.
+Jorgen H The police are entitled to speak to law abiding citizens, which is what I expected at the most. Perhaps they would come talk to me, which I was prepared to do, but after they pointed guns at me without cause (open carry of a semi-automatic rifle in public is not illegal), I was not inclined to be cooperative. I was out speaking to people to create awareness about gun rights, making a video on how to legally open carry in Washington State and asserting my right to keep and bear arms. The first reason I just mentioned is a form of expression of speech, which in this case, a weapon is no different than a flag or sign, because I am using it as a tool of expression. I carried a bigger weapon, because I wanted people to see it, just like I'd would want them to see a sign or a flag, so that they may come up to me and speak with me about it. That way I can engage in conversation with them about it. If you watch the full video, this is exactly what happened. You are entitled to believe what you want, as am I and that is what makes liberty great.

Law enforcement breaking the law is a portent of tyranny. Having so many laws and so vague is the avenue by which so many are wrongly persecuted.

They use those intimidation tactics, threatening to charge you with disorderly conduct. You interacted with them well. Keep up exercising your rights or they will be taken.
I don't understand why people try to cause issues. If youre walking down a street with a loaded rifle, that might look suspicious. The officers were just trying to see if it was legally registered to him and if he was a criminal. He was the one that denied to give them information and that makes it look even worse. Then they try to pin it on the cops for doing a terrible thing.
I usually do like watching these sorts of videos where citizens push to see if law enforcement will uphold the constitution or break it. But… The guy’s walking down the street with a LOADED carbine rifle. And insists of being anonymous at that, not wanting them to run and check the serial to see if it’s been used in a crime. Or verify ownership. Let’s say that everyone who owns a gun did this. What happens then? The behaviour is normalised and those planning an attack can do so openly and freely. Yeah, they’d be gunned down, but only after killing several people, at best. That’s assuming those who carry the damn gun can use it, and dare stay to use it, in combat. But chances are the villain intended to commit suicide anyway, and he got some kills… Thing is, I’m pretty sure responsible gun-owners would agree as well. I've seen plenty of UA-camrs that really don't like these sorts of things... Seeing how pulling a stunt like this isn’t really helping the cause. Remember that the members of the community don’t know what you’re up to and it’s not really until the bullets start flying, they’ll know for sure. You can kill someone from a very long range with that thing. Also, comparing the actions taken by these officers in this clip to the Nazi Germany-regime is just so wrong it makes me cringe. “Umm what, I can’t walk down the street with a loaded, high-powered rifle without the police asking questions?” I know I’ll get downvoted, but this is the reason the US have so many shootouts.
@@elizabethdaniels7431 Not wanting to die from bullet fire should be party neutral right? I guarantee if YOU saw this dude walking towards with a carbine rifle (at the mall of all places jesus christ) you would get the hell out of there.
I've always had a much worse experience with lady cops than male cops... as a matter of fact, its the lady cops that always seem to cause the most trouble
It's because they know they are inferior. Or at least they feel that way. so they feel like they have to prove that they are just as capable and tough as the male officers. Which very much ends up translating in a negative manner - so they act like giant cunts to everyone they come in contact with rather than excelling at serving at protecting ( which is how they should go about it)
Maybe why the smaller male cops I've dealt with have been the biggest dicks. Little man syndrome. I worked security with guys who wanted to be cops. Being mall cops made them feel powerful. A few of the guys were cool, many were assholes.
That female officer with the shotgun was way too jittery looking, I'd suggest in the future equipping someone less frightened of firearms with the shotgun, for everyones safety.
It's no secret that USA's fear instilled populace has a predisposition toward firearms... In order the protect one's self from others with firearms... Which metaphorically speaking is like trying to fight a house fire with napalm. Not big on logical thinking in the states unfortunately, I would have said it could be remedied by educating themselves, but there's (ironically) more chance getting shot in schools.
Why is it even legal for your police to even be carrying shotguns? Those spray multiple bullets at once in different directions. The point of a firearm used by police should simply be to apprehend an armed criminal imo, not to maximise damage or potentially kill someone...

if she did get one shot off the force of the recoil would in my opinion keep her from being confrontation effective. she looked to be about 30 percent taller then her firearm and the fact that she was within ten feet of the suspect who was unarmed at that time with a rifle style weapon shows her poor training . she appeared to be another one that believes bigger is better in all circumstances a handgun is for in close proximity . The worst of all this is the fact that all police in the USA are trained to beleave that everything they ask or tell someone should be obeyed and they do not know how to deal with it when they are not . The unlawful detainment of this guy from his car is why he was arrested not because he was carrying his gun . This guy now gets to pay bail , court cost , fines and or restitution for being arrested and if he so chooses legal cost of a lawyer to fight or mitigate the above cost this is why police in the USA get away with not knowing the law is also on the civies side. It is not that they do not care it is that a lot of them are not properly informed or like the girl Hernandez a little to ready to prove themselves or settle somthing that doesn't need to be exasperated.

Man, I feel conflicted about that. The first six minutes were perfectly fine on both sides. The man had a right to possess his firearm, and obviously some citizens were uncomfortable with him walking down the street with a rifle, which is completely understandable. Thankfully he wasn’t immediately tossed in a cop car in handcuffs, and they just talked to him for a few minutes before letting him go. Then in the last minute of the video they arrest him? Like what? The encounter was going pretty okay until that happened
My understanding is that the auditor messed up by parking on private property. I think the cops realised this so all they had to do was wait... the guy had no choice to carry an AR onto private property to get to his car and they were then able to arrest him.

Who trained these idiots? 18 U.S. Code § 241....If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured- They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
She was unprofessional and seemed to have either some sort of confidence issue derived from a "small man's complex" or perhaps from feeling some need to over compensate due to being a female and small. However, it is likely not her weapon, as she is left handed (a rarity) and the sling is all sloppy. If observations are to be made, they should be more accurate and less revealing of one's own confirmation bias.
***** Agree, you can load the shells up, down or half and half. What's curious is she's got a pistol on her right hip, but she's holding the right-handed shotgun left handed. Now that's either newb or operator as heck. Considering her finger is on the trigger, the butt stock is fully extended (with her short arms) and she hasn't swapped to a close in weapon, I'm going with newb.
Don Bates I'll agree with the figure on trigger part, but I fire a hand gun in my right hand but fire a rifle/shotgun from my left. Don't ask why.... I can't answer that. All I know is I am left handed but right arm strong. I am also left eyed.
I served in the US Army for 10 years and I am a combat veteran. We tend to have a clear-cut view on things when it comes to hostile situations. In this particular case, I'm *not* going to back up the officers in the way they handled this. Here is my full (and very lengthy) review on this encounter: Their initial contact was heavy-handed. Upon observing this guy, it should have been, at minimum, clear that he was not threatening anyone with his firearm. At maximum, a well-informed department should have been able to immediately identify him as an open-carry advocate. His filming of the encounter should have been a giveaway. Therefore, their reaction was at best, uninformed, and at worst, politically-motivated. As we move forward, it appears that we land on the latter. On one hand, the officers had him at gunpoint. On the other, they seemed to be rather relaxed - "Can you do me a favor and please just put your hands on the top of your head", and "We got eyes on your weapon - you're fine." This seems to me that they didn't feel that they were in any danger. . . which would suggest that Officer Rawlins, the OIC (Officer in Charge), at least, knew very well what was going on here from the very beginning. Which would be excellent, because it's his job to know. If he was perfect, he would have even informed his team that this was an open-carry advocate prior to initial contact being made. Officer Rawlins seems to have been aware of open-carry laws in his jurisdiction, given his conduct. Uninformed officers would have immediately disarmed and handcuffed him. Rawlins's lack of persistence in obtaining the guy's identification also shows that he knows what the laws are. There wasn't really much of an argument on this subject - the guy was asked a few questions, and no demands were made that he answer them after refusing to. Informed officers have reviewed videos like these, and are aware that persistence is futile. Therefore, this also suggests that Rawlins was indeed, informed. Yet, when he did not receive answers to his questions, he became visibly angry - though he did everything he could to contain it. It is here that the true nature of this encounter takes shape - *anger*. When this guy asks for the officers to identify themselves, they too appear to be overcome by anger. Officer Rawlins decides to make a snide remark. Officer Hernandez appears to be clinching her weapon, ready to unleash hell - despite that this guy is now disarmed. Her remark was on par with her boss's remark. Congratulations to Officer Young - the only officer who didn't lose her bearing. Officer Rawlins was able to correctly determine that his emotions were taking control, and he excused himself from the situation. Why the anger? I can only assume that this anger is politically-sourced. The fact that the officers had, from the very beginning, separated this guy from being a "member of the community" - that is to say, there is the community, and then there's this guy who is open-carrying. . . supports this idea. From here on out, every action taken by the officers continues to be wholly unnecessary. Removing the ammunition from his magazines onto the ground served no other purpose than to channel their anger, and to "punish" him for what he was doing. Refusing to allow him to return to his vehicle showed that they weren't interested in peacefully deescalating the situation, but rather, engineering a scenario which would make an arrest possible. Was it legal? Perhaps. Was it professional? Absolutely not. They don't want "his kind" in their community, despite that he has every right to be there. Therefore, upholding the law has officially taken a back seat. I'll conclude with some mentoring for Officer Hernandez: If you don't learn how to control your anger, you're going to end up killing an innocent person one day. You are infinitely more of a danger to that community than the guy you were called to respond to. If you were one of my soldiers, I would dedicate every minute of my day, and every day of my life toward getting you drummed out. Based on my experience, your problem runs much too deep to be corrected. I find you to be a psychopath, and your behavior would guarantee you a 5 minute lifespan on any active battlefield.
I agree with you as a fellow combat veteran, 12 Years U.S. Army here. Though I cannot agree with the guy in the video either. This guy went out of his way to do this. It wasn't bringing an issue to light, he started the issue.

Robert Noonan
The law says he can do it though.
It's like saying "I'm gonna call everyone a cuntalicous dickhead because it's my first amendment right"
>Guy couldn't get to his car.

But chances are the villain intended to commit suicide anyway, and he got some kills…

if she did get one shot off the force of the recoil would in my opinion keep her from being confrontation effective. she looked to be about 30 percent taller then her firearm and the fact that she was within ten feet of the suspect who was unarmed at that time with a rifle style weapon shows her poor training . she appeared to be another one that believes bigger is better in all circumstances a handgun is for in close proximity .

One thing to note. It is unlawful to detain the man for lawfully open carrying.
My understanding is that the auditor messed up by parking on private property. I think the cops realised this so all they had to do was wait... the guy had no choice to carry an AR onto private property to get to his car and they were then able to arrest him.
@@kevinmcnab5670 He is allowed to park there. He is a paying customer. Now, the store could choose to tell him to leave, but they didn't do that. At least one of the stores had a policy not allowing guns inside the store, he respected that and avoided that store. He even confirmed that he was allowed to open carry on the property from one of the employees.
Here is my full (and very lengthy) review on this encounter:
Their initial contact was heavy-handed.
Richard Howell you put more effort into this review than the person recording put into the video
excellent analyse
What he said.
I agree with you as a fellow combat veteran, 12 Years U.S. Army here. Though I cannot agree with the guy in the video either. This guy went out of his way to do this. It wasn't bringing an issue to light, he started the issue.
Also, you can find videos of this same "veteran" as he claims going out of his way to start issues with the police.
Get away from the property sir the owners didn't say anything about you not being there but trust me they don't want you there
The pedestrian tried to leave, but the officers kept him from doing so.
Then the the officers arrested him.
Then he won in court.

I love the way those cops want him to leave but won’t let him go to his car

@@ricochete5875 yes and he was leaving no mind games when he was not breaking a law you dumb dumb. They played a game and I bet lost a bunch of tax payers money because they basically trapped him and made him break the law. Trippy Storm Yea, because he was carrying a fucking AR. If I had to confront someone with an AR I'd have my finger on the trigger too. This is why you Americans have mass shooting and low life expectancy. Because you're clinically fucking stupid.
Christian Edwards hahaha his AR was on the ground 20ft behind him. You would be a bitch and be scared of disarmed man.

This is a waist of tax payers money.

So... you're just walking around with an "AR" ... and you're surprised that you caught the attention of the police? Come now...
I mean, there's nothing unlawful with walking around with an AR, especially when he is respecting the rules of the property that he is on.
The police violated the law and commit multiple crimes against him.
@@bear3663 Did I say it was? I said you're walking around with an "AR" and you're surprised that you've caught the attention of the police?
