I am a woman just at the beginning of my journey to Islam and I’m very alone in this, no one around to guide me really, just 1person but I feel like a burden. I am feeling overwhelmed not sure what to read or listen to in English! I have the Quran but struggling to sit reading and understanding it, is there any books or anything that can help explain the words of Allah and what they mean? Maybe I’m expecting to much all in one go but I’m just wanting to be good at learning prayer, knowing and understanding Allah and the prophets stories too. no one says there are 66 bibles, no one disputes that saying there are 72, and no one disputes that saying there are 87.
There is debate about the number of books that are in the cannon. That isn't the same as there being debate over how many bibles exist... and it doesn't change that there are
- 4 gospel accounts in the new testament, and a series of letters written by early church fathers, historical documents that outlay the events surrounding the early church, and a book of prophecy.
-17 books of the tanakh in the old testament (including the Torah), as well historical books, and books of wisdom and the prophets.
The additional books (eg the 8 extra that the Catholics hold) don't contradict the cannon, but instead they mostly corroborate the cannon and are essentially left out due to repetition and redundancy - where as the bibles containing 87 books include books that were never considered inspired, but were culturally relevant (eg. Enoch)
And there are at least 37 known Arabic qurans... not just 1... and that's not including translations... and they don't have the missing verses that were, for example, eaten by aisha's goat.
Furthermore uthman burned a whole lot of early variants of the quran, so we have nothing to evidence that the quran today is the same quran that was handed down to Mohammed.
Listen closely, you guys never get this right. The Bible is a lot of Israelite texts put together written by different people, some texts are written by unknown Jews and that's what some people don't accept. Rejecting certain books does not corrupt the accepted ones.
@shawn none I'm sure you have good reason to believe as such... I've heard this argument time and time again. I would probably believe it too if I hadn't personally identified different Arabic characters in the same passages of different qurans.
Compare the Warsh and Hafs qurans and tell me if they're word for word the same. Please dont take my word for it.
I'm certain that I've read the differences myself... but if I'm wrong, I'm open to correction.
I'm also certain that both the Warsh and the Hafs are very popular, well trusted qurans.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but provide evidence of some description if you're going to. Just a claim alone won't be sufficient.

So, I grew up in a Christian family, going to church every Sunday, you know the drill. But one day, I stumbled upon a book about different religions and decided to dive into it. I started learning about Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, and Islam, and something about Islam just clicked with me.
I started visiting a local mosque, talking to the Imam, and making friends in the Muslim community. It was amazing to learn about their beliefs and practices. The focus on compassion, submission to one God, and community really resonated with me.
After a lot of soul-searching and deep conversations, I decided to convert to Islam. It was a personal choice driven by my quest for spirituality and truth. 😊
My family and friends were a bit surprised at first, but they saw how happy and at peace I was with this decision. It's not about abandoning my Christian background, but rather expanding my spiritual horizons.

Really good discussion Ali, clear and direct. I was baptised 3 years ago but the more I study the more I see the flaws in the teachings of the bible. This man really believes the 4 gospels were written by the individuals named but they weren't. The Gospel of Mark dates from c. AD 66-70, Mathew and Luke around AD 85-90, and John AD 90-110. Despite the traditional ascriptions, all four are anonymous and most scholars agree that none were by eyewitnesses. I hope he learns more about these contradictions because as he and Ali said we need to make sure we are following the truth now because when this life is over its too late to go back and rectify our mistake

The amount and variety of scholars our deen produced, who left no issue undiscussed is for me personally proof enough. No other religion has this. Every other person speaking from there tradition starts with " I think...". But we can relate it to the earliest generation with a link to the prophet and there isn't a topic undiscussed, there is no "leak". I always wonder when I face a new problem in my life that I can find guidance in form of a scholarly opinion that is based on Qur'an and sunnah. İslam is guidance for every aspect of our Lives!

“Seest thou not that Allah merges Night into Day and He merges Day into Night?” [Al-Qur’an-Surah Luqman- 31:29]
Merging here means that the night slowly and gradually changes to day and vice versa. This phenomenon can only take place if the earth is spherical. If the earth was flat, there would have been a sudden change from night to day and from day to night.
The following verse also alludes to the spherical shape of the earth:
39:5 ►“ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ يُكَوِّرُ اللَّيْلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ النَّهَارَ عَلَى اللَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ يَجْرِي لأجَلٍ مُسَمًّى أَلا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ “
“He created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): He makes the Night overlap the Day, and the Day overlap the Night.”[Al-Qur’an -Surah Az-Zumar- 39:5]
The Arabic word used here is Kawwara meaning ‘to overlap’ or ‘to coil’- the way a turban is wound around the head. The overlapping or coiling of the day and night can only take place if the earth is spherical.
The earth is not exactly round like a ball, but geo-spherical, i.e. it is flattened at the poles. The following verse contains a description of the earth’s shape:
79:30 ►“ وَالأرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ دَحَاهَا “
“And the earth, moreover, hath He made egg shaped.” [Al-Qur’an-Surah An-Naziat 79:30]
The Arabic word for egg here is dahaahaa1 which means an ostrich-egg. The shape of an ostrich-egg resembles the geo-spherical shape of the earth.
Thus the Qur’an correctly describes the shape of the earth, though the prevalent notion when the Qur’an was revealed was that the earth was flat.
1 The Arabic word dahaahaa has been translated by A. Yusuf Ali as “vast expanse”, which also is correct. This word also means an ostrich-egg.

It says How it spread out not The earth is flat and it says by the link you have 1 the translation is wrong and 2 even if it was a good translation it says how it was LAID out flat. Rabbana laa tuzigh qulubana ba'da iz morning hadaytana wa hablana milladunka rahmah innaka antal wahhab
Do you want shahada?say this Duaa:
رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا بِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ
Rabbana aamanna bima anzalta wa ittaba'nar rasula faktubna ma'ash shahideen
Overwhelmed by life's problems? Say this Duaa:
حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
Hasbiyallahu laa ilaha illa hua alayhi tawakkaltu wa hua rabbul arshil azeem
If you want yourself and your children to be regular in their salaat:
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
Rabbijalni muqeem as salaata wa man zurriyati rabbana wa taqabbal dua
If you want your spouse and children to be Khair for you :
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Rabbana hablana min azwajina wa zurriyatina qurrata a'yunin wa ja'alna lil muttaqeena imama
A blessed home:
رَبِّ أَنْزِلْنِي مُنْزَلًا مُبَارَكًا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنْزِلِين
Rabbi anzalni munzalan mubarakan wa Anta khair al munzileen
Keep the shaitaan away from you:
رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ
Rabbi a'uzubika min hamazaatish shayadin wa a'uzubika rabbi an yahdurun
Afraid of the torment of the hell fire:
رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا
Rabbanasrif anna azaaba jahannama inna azaabaha kaana gharama
If you are afraid Allah may not accept your good deeds:
رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Rabbana takabbal minna innaka antas sameeul aleem
If you are sad, complain to none other than Allah:
إنما أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّه
Innama ashku bassi wa huzni ilalaah
DO NOT FORGET TO SEND it to others and multiply your ajar In sha Allah
