IF Castle keeps playing well, should the Spurs trade CP3 at the deadline? Thanks for watching and GO SPURS GP! airalamo.com/stephon-castle-making-san-antonio-spurs-trade-deadline-move-more-likely-by-day
nope cp3 might not contribute the way he use to be but his impact and knowledge is beneficial for young spurs, bro that was a close game, see how chris handle the plays it make their live so easy
@@blablablaa14but he may have no choice if he can't land a starting spot on a contending team. Teams are loaded with young talent now. If nobody wants him when the trade deadline is up & Castle is ready to start, well then CP3 may have to take what he can get
@@j-real7233 I don't think the Spurs will do CP3 like that. I think they can de-emphasize guys like Wesley/Malakai to get Castle minutes being those two have deals set for next year already they are stuck in the Spurs. Also CP3 wont play over 65 games most likely
I don’t know man, it depends on what cp3 wants . I would rather keep him because he can mentor the guys on winning . How to carry themselves, what to look for on offense/defense. The experience of Chris Paul is more valuable in my opinion and Castle is developing nicely alongside him. I’m hoping for an SGA trajectory for Castle.
I hope too but I don’t think Castle is quite SGA talent wise I bet he has just as much drive though so maybe I am wrong That would be amazing. Also depends on what we get for Paul Let’s say he plays lights out before deadline, and we can get a decent haul like 2-4th rounder even in 2029 or something wild, stacking up more trade equity for a potential Cooper Flagg trade up that imo is likely a potential move SAS would want to make in that case. Now if they get a 5th rounder plus or bench talent I’d say keep the Grand Paul. Plus he’s just the man. I love him as a Spur.
Chris Paul and Barnes are not going anywhere! CP3 is teaching the kids how to stay calm when teams make a run and has given us at least 3, maybe 4 wins. He's priceless and I think he should stay another year if he decides to play.
Castle doesn't play like a rookie but like an experienced player, and he's a lot stronger than you'd think. Paul needs to stay to help the team mature faster. What's missing is Soan under the basket, to get the ball on one side, while Victor gets it on the other and in front. With Soan, the Lakers weren't going to get as many balls back on defence. Vassel recovered his skill, but not enough physicality. When that happens, the Spurs will be very difficult to beat at home and will become competitive for 40 wins or the play-in. The basis of the team must be Victor, Castle, Soan, Vassel, Paul, and the others in rotation, especially when the score is assured. The teams are much closer this year overall, with very small gaps. As you can see, Spurs are joint 10th in the West and would be 5th in the East. All in all, only the Thunder are slightly better.
Naw Chris Paul isn't going anywhere . He'll be there for the season. He's got multiple high assist game. He's shooting poorly but the 7-10 assist have been beyond helpful.
Just an interesting observation from the last couple of games. CP3 comes out of the game at time outs, and while Mitch Johnson is talking to him, CP3 keeps walking away without acknowledging Mitch. Versus, Stephon Castle comes over to the sideline on his own to get the coach input. My guess is CP3 is here because of Pop but if CP3 is thinking this team isn't going to make the playoffs, then he will likely be looking for another opportunity. Or, keep CP3 as a player-coach if he wants to do that of course. Pop will need to decide how we transition to a new coach and maybe we know more about what Pop wants when he is better.
To give respect on CP3, let him choose where and if he wants to be traded. If in case that he doesn't want to, let him play and mentor the young guys. Any of the two choices is still a win.
Although anything can happen, Chris Paul didn’t agree to come here nor did we pursue to sign him to just trade him midseason. The plan is a full year then see whatsup after
The staring line up should be PG Chris Paul SG Devin Vassell SF Julien Champagnie PF Jeremy Sochan C Victor Wembanyama Bench PG StephonCastle SG Keldon Johnson SF Harrison Barnes PF Sabdro Mamukelashivili C Charles Bassey
@@ricardo1546 We all agree on that, without the "salary issue" with Zach, he don't deserve playing time. But you can't pay 17M a guy for doing nothing.
Tre is going to play either today or the next game most likely is what Mitch said. Also I think Malakai and Wesley will suffer from Tre's return more than Castle because Castle is really good. In fact I think the real starting five this year will be CP3/Castle/Devin/Sochan/Wemby when everyone is healthy. It also helps match the backups with a similar style with Tre/Champganie/Keldon/Barnes/Collins. Those are two similar five man groups
I think it depends on CP3s options. With all the influx of talent in the NBA, he realistically may not have a chance to to start anymore. Westbrook, CP3 & other vets have started coming off the bench at different points in their careers now. I honestly don't know if he'll get an ideal starting spot on a contending team. With that being said, I think he's found a home for mentoring & coaching the young players if he chooses to.
I was listening to CP3 mic'd up with the spurs and I think we need to try and keep him as as long as possible. Instead of chasing a ring he could be chasing a leadership legacy. He has always looked up to Poo that way.
I would love if CP3 decided to retire after this year and got an assistant coaching job so he can be another voice the young guys have. I think the Spurs coaching staff would love having him around as Pop gets old, having that secondary voice will be great
I can't see Pop in the front office. He was up there and came down to coach. I think he likes the relationship aspect of coaching especially now that he's a widower. I would like whoever is PG to get Wemby closer to the basket. More pick and roll, not so much pick and pop.
Great Scott! What happened to Castle's arm??? Did he steal a Delorian and go on a date with his mom? -- Seriously though. The kid has talent. That means they should keep CP3 around to mentor him.
We should trade Zach collins and a pick for Jakob peoltl. Jakob was top 3 in the league in rim defense and deterrence his entire tenure with us, an excellent rebounder, and very high fg%, all major issues with our bench. The raptors are tanking right now they don't need him, but they do need picks and expiring contracts for their rebuild.
Don't sound like a Spursy way of don't fix what is not broken😅.. can't remember the last time Spurs was involved in an inseason trade of active players in the roster?
Player-Coach CP3 isn't going anywhere unless he requests a trade. Of course, now that Pop is done for the year, and probably for good, whatever deal Pop had with CP3 may take a hit.
This is a tough one. I like the benefits that veteran presence has brought to SA. However…with Sochan out until January, SA needs all the defensive help it can get. CP3 is a great floor general but he is not the defender Castle is. With Wendy and Sochan available, SA could deal with CP3’s defensive liability. With Sochan out, I’m not sure that they can. The better and more consistently Castle plays, the tougher the decision becomes. Be interesting to see what SA does when Vessell is ready to start again. And then what happens when Trae returns???
CP3 helped a lot for those 6 W.... I'm pretty sure without him the team will accumulate many more L. Trading CP3 might be good for the rebuild, but it'll be very bad to watch another L season without a great floor general.
I know we need one more star at SF. But it's apparent we don't have a good bench unit. Wesley is a terrible shooter and facilitator. We have arguably the three worst defenders in the league in Collins, Branham, and Keldon. I get not moving on this year, but we cannot run it back with this unit and expect to do anything. As soon as the starters rest the lead evaporates. They can't stop anyone, and are so inconsistent scoring it's not worth keeping them.
Agree with trade to a contender for next nothing because spurs look out for their players. Prefer to see pop return and cp3 assistant coach with aspirations of being head coach. GSG BABY
Stephon Castle is a wing. What the team really needs is a bonafide floor general PG and more perimeter guard talent in the draft. Moving CP3 WOULD be a great way to tank ourselves back into a top 10 pick though.
Keep CP3 until he retires. Vessel should be 6th man like Manu. Starting Line up should be CP3, Castle, Champ, Sochan, Wemby...they should trade Vessel and Kheldon in the future if Castle keeps getting better
If we haven't gotten rid of Collins and Keldon we sure as heck not getting rid of CP3. Pop wanted him to join the team. He's on a 1yr deal, he'll finish it and retire or resign lol
Honestly yeah we can move CP3 if we want, but under no circumstances should we trade both Barnes and CP3 at the trade deadline. We need that veteran voice, that calming presence on the court, and I think Barnes can provide that for at least another year or 2.
Unless it is aeally GR8 deal say hell no! In fact we should keep Cp3 next year...he can transition to assistant coach when he decides to retire. Do not 4get Wemby demanded veteran influence so if we do trade him then we would need another veteran to take his spot for the experience. NOT Rocket Science keep CP3 as starter, but have Castle get his minutes.
CP3 should stay, and they should keep Castle at the SG for another season. Vassel hit some clutch shots, but he is a much less talented Derozan. Vassel is a guy that can average 20+ in this league and do it efficiently, but can't do it and be on a winning team. I prefer Vassel off the bench, and he will not be getting another max contract from the SPURS. Not a max guy.. Castle is thriving this much because he is playing in a 3/D role because CP3 allows it. The game is simplified for him until he is ready like Kawhi back then. Don't put too much on his plate, he's not ready; he looks it because he is in a great position.
"Paul has experience." 😅 ya experience losing, flopping, whining, team hopping, and playing dirty. Please trade paul and collins for a defensive minded big.
Why would Paul want Even be coached by a guy that is younger and probably has less basketball knowledge than him? Not throwing shade the coach is doing a great job. But Paul probably wants to learn how to coach and wanted to play at the same time

Chris Paul is currently averaging 8.8 assists per game. 4th in the NBA. I’d like to see him stick around at least through January.
Would be weird for them to trade him unless he requests it. He's a plus 78 so far this year. So he is for sure making the Spurs better
He can do the same thing off the bench just like he did in golden state.
