Breathe is the second track from Greg Maroney's brilliant Wind Chimes cd.
Man, this one kicked my butt all over town and back again!
Seriously, though, it was worth it as it is one of the stand outs on the cd for me and I'm thrilled to have gotten it to the point of capturing a decent take of it. I found that learning the notes wasn't too difficult as it flows together quite nicely but getting it up to speed was the challenge and took a lot of hours of practice to get there!

Very good job, one of the best performances I have heard. Greg Maroney
The moment you receive a compliment from the author of the song that you have played
Whoa!!!! He replied though! Sick!
I listen to this every day....it's my inspiration. Ethereal performance at the least, more like super-supernatural. (Your tempo is perfect - intoxicating drama!) :)
Emotions in your playing are really clear! I love it!
This is the kind of piano piece i want to never end! You play it absolutely beautiful, and you're a really talented man!
Breath taking 💛💛💛
Your story is truly inspiring. and im glad it made your day. you deserve to have a big head. i couldn't imagine how hard it was to learn this. i never took the time to learn to read music... and i honestly thought it was too late for me to even try.. but hearing your story makes me want to learn that much more. nothing is ever impossible, and you are living proof!
you are so fantastic... all of your songs are just beautiful. it brought me to tears.
I added your cover of this piece to my personal playlist over the original. I love the way you play because of the emotion you bring into the piece, It really adds so much depth when an artist truly cares about the music they play.
You play like there's no tomorrow, u never cease to amaze me
Just to shine a little bit of light in a comment section that is a balance of requests or negatives, i just wanted to say this is simply beautiful! Being the first time i hear this piece i was simply blown away by this rendition. My goal is now to play it this well! Thanks for posting this it made my day! :)
My compliments to you for such a faithful rendition of this piece of music. Very well done.
thank you so much!! you made me smile...only 2 years...and you are amazing !
This is the most amazing piece I have heard.. Gives me the sudden urge to learn this and I will due to the stunning sense of emotion i get from this through your interpretation! Thank you so, so much!
Thanks, Stephanie, it is one of my favourites! You should definitely give it a go. It's a tricky one at first but after a while it kind of clicks and becomes a lot easier. Good luck!
This is so.. So good! This piece is enchanting. And your rendition is marvelous! Oh my goodness! So well done! I'm impressed. Thank you!
Stunning. Absolutely beautiful
Thank you for helping me calm my mind before I go sleep... P.S.- God bless you and family 🙌🙏
oh my freaking GOD! this is beautiful
This is absolutely amazing, especially considering the brevity of your piano career. I've been playing for nearly 12 years and to play this song at this level will take me weeks of practice. Brava, Bravissima!
Magnifique ! Votre interprétation est majestueuse et je la préfère même à l'original joué par l'auteur ...Merci pour ce merveilleux moment !
I absolutely love this piece ❤
You are truly amazing. I have had the desire to learn and play the piano for a long time. But with my daily lifestyle it's been hard and I thought it was pretty much impossible. I started to loose that motive and ended up forgetting the beauty of piano music. But thanks to you and your inspiring story. It has given me an even stronger motive as well as new and better perspective towards music. Thank you so much.
this is truly a magnificent piece of music,i applaud you sir for this brilliant performance
Fantastyczne wykonanie👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Nothing can replace the beauty of this art.. :-)
reading through these comments i see u have only been playing for 2 years?!? that is just amazing... you must be so proud. your cover is wonderful. i wish i could play any instrument as good as this.
Awesome piece of music beautifully played. Not easy to play at all and you mastered it extraordinary good. Hats off!
So superrrrrrrr sick!
This is the only 100% flawless video i've ever seen.
And this is why i love & play the piano until the day i'm gone.
Soooo brilliant played! I like it much more than the original too!!!!
this is just amazing!
So beautiful!!
Iain! You are brilliant!! I've been listening to your plays for weeks, and all are the bests!!! I really love them so much!! Thanks for your talent! :) Hihi, and I've been learning to play the piano for two months :) My first (and beloved) piece is Yann Tiersen's Comptine d'un autre ete, from Amelie ❤
A very professional looking and sounding video. You play with real power and confidence. Outstanding effort.
Rien à dire , juste a écouter 😌😌❤❤
mind-blowing performance...
Wow, beautiful!
Your hands are made of golden.
Wish you all the best on the Earth!!!
For a moment there I fell asleep. But it was a heavenly slumber. A much needed time for an escape. But then I awoke :( Lain, thanks for a place I can come back to and engage in heavenly rest.
je suis étonné de la différence entre le nombre de vue et de j'aime en tous les cas moi je trouve cela magnifique et j"espère que vous allez continuer à publier merci encore de m'avoir donné encore plus l'envie de progresser au piano
Bravo 👏🏼
amo este tema
How have you managed to learn all of that without needing to look at the sheet? I mean, I'm learning it right now and it's one of the most marvelous pieces I've ever played but it's 13 pages long! Wow you're incredible and you have played this so beautifully that I can't stop listening to it. *.*
Haha, thanks, Elma! Yes it is pretty long but there are repeated sections which helps. Other than that it was just a lot of practise and I've got a pretty good memory anyway so I find it quite easy to memorise sheets of pieces that I'm learning. Thanks for watching!
+Iain Hemstock wow
Speaking from experience I find that "learning" a piece isn't the same as being able to truly play it. When you are able to truly capture the emotion of the piece you will find you no longer need sheet music.... you can feel what needs to be played. This is true artistry and you should be applauded.
@@ianmastin I agree, I know many songs, with most being my own. Learning a song and being able to play it through is different than just playing it from your heart. Like being forced to play piano is different than wanting to learn it. If you’re forced to do something, there is no ambition, though when it’s of your own will you play from your heart because it’s your passion.
Very nicely played
so beautiful....
Love.
Bravo!
Awesome!:)
На дворе 2021, а я захожу и переслушиваю в сотый раз. Великолепное исполнение.
Beautiful, beautiful job. You completely nail the flowing smoothness needed, and I actually prefer your slightly slower pace as it lets the music "breathe."
when i first heard this song i cried....this is my favorite song!!!!?!?!
Well played - nice version :)
For the good of humanity, please, write more songs like this one.
wowwww Amzinggg !!!! İ like this music... Bravo ,Bravo, Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well done! i downloaded the sheet of this music, my college teacher just looked over it and stated playing like he has been playing this song for years, wish i could play this way ): anyways, nice job, keep studying and go ahead with this career.
Yeah you did it, alright! I was holding my breath until I realised, you're crazy :D ...that was angelic. I would be jealous if I didn't know how much time and heart you put into this song, it payed off 100fold. Some parts were different from what I expected but no bad surprise. Love your timing and accentuation. Your left hand looked really professionell, thought so especially at 1:24 teehee. Near the end I thought you'd be losing your concentration but you caught it again, good job!
I need this song
All i have to say is WOW..My biggest congrats to you you are awesome..!!!!! :D
as far as I can tell... flawless. (:
2:08 is my favorite part
好棒!好听!
This is an amazing song, I can play most of it and I’m 16 years old. I have been playing piano for I think around 6 years. I can probably play about half of it. By the way, did you use a MIDI Cable? The piano sounds amazing and it wasn’t rushed. Sometimes when I play it, I tend to rush it, you don’t!
Thanks from fellow pianist,
William Sutcliffe
I have the same digital piano as you, I also play this song by Greg Maroney. But damn I wish I played like you haha:) really good job!
wish i was around when this was filmed
I love this song! and you played it great!
If i may ask, how long have you been practicing piano?

You've done a beautiful job! I printed out the sheet music for this years ago, and your video just inspired me to add it to my list of songs to learn this week - so thank you! I'm currently learning Nostos by Jean-Michel Blais. Have you heard of it? You seem like you would play it with incredible emotion!
I love this song too, so fun to play!
I would Love to learn to play this! Do you think you could do a tutorial?? I can't find one and you played this beautifuly!:)
PLEASE do a tutorial! I would appreciate it greatly! Great piece, and beautifully played!
❤
I am 30 and just started 4 weeks ago. excited at the fact that its possible to get this good. I also have the same piano as you. was wondering if you use any external speakers/monitor and do you ever connect to your computer etc. also do you have a book or anything you recommend to the older beginner? I have been playing guitar for about 15 years and feel like I am progressing really fast. also, do you have any sheet music youd like to pass a long that helped you get better.
thanks
Omg we have the same piano i think!!!
Funny note: I clicked like within the first seconds and without thinking about it; then I clicked again because I actually liked your cover accidentally removing it so I had to click a third time to confirm the like! So mine its a 3x like 😃 Great work! I imagine how many times you tried to record this flawlessly so this is gorgeously made
any tips for learning especially the left hand when the octaves start (about halfway though the song)?
This is so beautiful!!!! What keyboard do you use, and what processing (if any) is done to get this ethereal sound?
It's likely just a built-in sound on the electronic piano, as opposed to an effect done afterwards. The piano, by the looks of it, is the Yamaha Arius, probably the YDP-143.
I am pretty sure he added reverb to it to get that spacific type of sound to it
How do you record the audio directly from the piano? What do i need to do to make it sound this good? Would appreciate a reply! Thanks
Whilst I'm not Iain Hemstock himself, I'd think it's likely he records the sound on the electronic piano, and records the video simultaneously, then transfers the files onto a computer and syncs them. Electronic pianos can record and then you can hook it up to a laptop or something then get the recorded files off of it.
ELECTRIFYING!!! And you played this when you were just beginning to learn piano? I swear, words and breath escape me. What the heck with those 3 negatives? I KNOW!....you rocketed them so blazingly out of the ionosphere with this, that they could only manage to frantically and flailingly skid across the negative button on their way out.
This is unquestionably without peer.
+Gingerly550 Wow... Your so good with your words.
Both this comment and cover are amazing.
1:50 is my favourite part

Great choice! 👍
Where I can find the score?? Please I would like play this song!
How to enjoy this video: watch it, personally I don't believe it needs the support of rain in the background. It is a beautiful piece on its own.
just a heads up , you should replace the link in your discription , greg re-uploaded that video
how many years playing the piano..you need so you can reach in this level???? i strared now in my 30s and i wonder if i ever reach this level..
What kind of piano is this?
It's a Yamaha YDP Arius 141.
There was a doctor who was struck by lightening and died for about 20 minutes. When he came back, he was possessed by a desire to play the piano even though he never had had any prior interest in it . He practiced so much, his wife left him and he started showing up late for work. He quit his job in medicine, so important it was to him to practice 24-7. In a year, he sounded like he'd been playing all his life; in two, he sounded like a concert pianist. Sound familiar?
I will learn piano to be able to play this
why is there an ad in the middle of this 😭😭
88 keys in a piano. 88th person to have 'liked' this :) Is there any other place to get the sheet music that isn't $85??

Clearly you are very talented. Have you given any thought to composing your own music and producing an album? If the number of likes on UA-cam is any indication, you would be well received. Count me in as a huge fan!
