is one of my favorite handling cars, with brushless setup - 60a surpass hobby and a 2600kv 3660 motor
30mm turbo fan on the ESC and regular 30mm on the motor
half an hour running from a 6000mah 2s (overvolt) lipo. motor gets slightly warm. probably about as warm as the battery and leads
the big tires hammer the electrics even with the lowest gear ratio. i run an ftx vantage too but the smaller tires means it always runs cool.
i bought my bugsta 2nd hand off someone that had always run it on stock brushed electrics. I don't think he believed me when I said its a good base for upgrades. but its been super reliable
my recommended upgrades - all the elecrics, metal adjustable servo saver, steering arms and c-hubs, sway bars, tires
the chassis where it meats the bumper is a weak point with 2 screw holes too close to the edge. the new version of the chassis comes in two parts so you can easily replace the front part, but its still weak. I make a polymorph plastic bash plate and put an extra screw in the bumper. Takes a few goes to get right, but can make it pretty much bullet proof
ua-cam.com/video/YJaiLly5Yl4/v-deo.html running the vantage on my carpet track before the rains arrived
i'll get some runs with the bugsta soon, is much less dusty now
It's Time to upgrade now too brushless system 3s lipo batterys 3200kv 3660 120a esc I think 🤔😊

They can theoretically run a Lipo, the ESC can be switched to lipo mode.
The issue is that in any electric RC, the motor dictates how much current is drawn and with a nimh pack, there isn't as much available as there is from a lipo, so the motor will generally run cooler all else being equal.
So a motor that runs ok on nimh can get hotter when running a lipo as it can pull more current and also the voltage tends to stay higher with a lipo, both contributing to more heat.
This is especially true with a rig like the Bugsta. It has huge wheels a fairly tall gearing so it already puts quite a lot of demand on the motor, so if you give it a lipo to draw from, it can get hotter still, and it will burn out quicker.
The stock Bugsta motor is a 550 size.
Is that a 540 you have in there? Could the motor be over stressed maybe and pulling loads of current.
According to the manual the ESC had no LiPo mode, its NiMh only. And looking at it I can’t see any switches.
No idea of the motor size I never looked 😂
@@HaggardRC It has one but they don't mention it cause they don't want people to use it lol.
There's a little white button on it between the motor cables.
I think there's 3 programmable settings.
Nimh/lipo
Low voltage and overheat protection on/off
And you can switch between forward/brake/reverse and forward/reverse (crawler mode)
I only found out because Hobbyking started selling the same esc with their own branding and I tried following the instructions with my FTX version and it all worked.
It's a bit of a fiddly to program, all based on beeps. Probably best left alone for the Bugsta !
Interested to see if the problem comes back now!
Sweet job bud trying get koyosho pten alpha coupler and put savage together now working out all screws go.stuff
nice video my friend! But it's just something about nitro that makes my blood simmer!
Oh no.bud hope it works get it fixed
Nice video Haggard
hello Haggard - like your content but have you heard of the saying " a sledge hammer to crack an egg?" - keep making em' pal :o)
Nope never heard that lol
how long did you have this car for?
Bought it in 2021
It’s a cool looking car, but I can honestly say it’s the worst Rc I’ve ever had absolutely terrible Rc
