- The Clarke boys head out for a hunt with their pig dogs to try and catch a big boar. The dogs manage to track down and stop a tusky wild hog and hold him in position for long enough for the boys to arrive with the new .44 magnum gun to give it its first piece of real shooting. Come along for the ride and see what happens next on this exciting episode that ends with a sad twist.

So sorry for your loss!!! It's something that is hard to explain or understand unless you've been through it. I ran dogs in the states for bear and all other sorts of critters and it is bound to happen but never easy. Thank you for your honesty and showing people this and the emotion in all that it means to be a Houndsman.

Yea, all hunters understand how much we love our dogs. It’s hard for some people to understand but hopefully this video shows a bit of how much we love our dogs even though we take them hunting and they get in dangerous situations sometimes.
Sorry to hear about Peanut. Have followed her and the Clarke team for a while. Loved the character Peanut was and I'm sure she won't be forgotten.

I knock about with pig hunters in the Whanganui / Ruapehu region. I shoot deer, they hunt pigs. They’re a bunch of hard bastards. The dogs are hard too. These guys lose pig dogs to boars now and then but their culture is to pretend it doesn’t hurt. Pig hunting is all about the dogs, so I’ve never really understood why these guys try to hide their grief. So good on you for honouring Peanut the way you did, it was done real well. I thought it was a very honest way to reflect on that unfortunate outcome. Peanut was a good dog. A life well lived. RIP Peanut.

Sorry for your lost guys I've just had a dog in the vets that has just pulled through and now have a 17 year old dog struggling to walk so it's her time RIP peanut I've watched all your hunts on here such good memories 😢

Yea we would far prefer to have hunters involved in controlling animals and utilising them as a resource where possible rather than just dumping poison in there.

Damn that sucks alright but how come u guys don’t use chestplates like we do here in Oz on ur dogs?
Sure u have to b way more careful with overheating them but we run dogs with plates in 30 plus degrees in far northern Oz successfully? We also carry staple guns an Kwick clot etc to control bleeding in case either we or the dogs get hurt.

Thanks man, yea not many people use them over here. They seem to slow the dogs down too much in the thick scrub I think. We carry staple guns and all that but didn’t wanna show too much of that stuff on camera as it just gives the antis too much to complain about. Appreciate the comment mate👍🙏
@@clarkeboyshunting yeh the off the shelf ones can inhibit movement so we used to get them custom made. Generic ring collar arrangement but fitted with chest an shoulder protection custom made to fit the dog. Single thickness on the shoulders and double thickness in the chest area.
I had my best dog for over 15 yrs and never put a stitch in her but her collar an chest plate was shredded by the time I retired her and she was probably smaller than Peanut at about 15 odd kgs but hard as balls staffy cattle cross.
We also have extremely thick rainforest and sugar cane (that stuff sux when it’s falling over on itself👎) that we hunt in nth Qld but never lost a dog to a pig but did lose a couple over the yrs to snake bite and a croc an that sucked as it’s like losing a good mate?
Sorry for the lengthy reply but really think u should trial a custom made chest plate on one of ur harder holding dogs as yes the plate might be expensive but one big vet bill would buy you 3 new plates??

How about an American style trap for the pigs.
We would be lying if we didn’t say part of the reason we hunt with dogs is that we love hunting that way as well. It is really fun to explore the bush with your dogs and chase down crafty these worthy adversaries. It just sucks when something like this happens😢 We are glad this video resonated with you and hopefully it portrayed how much we love our dogs.

Its best to invest in a RCD vest. I had a 6yr old pup that was supposed to bay, then started catching/lugging instead of just baying. She got lots of cuts, so I went ahead and bought her a vest. I luv watching your videos, its just sad that you didn't get her a vest knowing that she likes to catch. If you need a vest let me know, Ill be happy to send one over. RIP Peanut
Thanks for the comment. Not many people use them in New Zealand. Have you used yours in thick bush? People that have used them over here found they weren’t able to catch the big pigs anymore, dogs couldn’t keep. Perhaps they were getting caught in the bushes?
