Thank you for trying to make the public aware of this! I had a kidney stone, finally made it to the ER by myself, making a stop to roll on the ground and vomit a couple of times. Had a CT scan, went to my GP the next day. He practically whispered what you say here, told me I should avoid CT scans. Two days later, I was in the ER again for pain management, they were pushing HARD for another CT scan, I refused, it was the stone of course. I stay away from doctors as much as poss now.

scolopede .I agree about the second scan. Needless. The first scan though, they didn't know what was wrong. You could've been having an aneurysm, appendicitis, ect. Bad news is once you get kidney stones, you'll probably get them in the future. Sorry.

Thanks Dr. Greger, for posting this. I distinctly recall speaking with my mother's onco about CT scan hazards six or seven years ago, and his replying that airplanes are greater conveyors of radiation, and my responding, "Yeah, well, I don't want my mom cross-countrying on those every month, either!" The open-minded clinicians--like he otherwise was--need to see this, but the trick is getting them to. [sigh]

After a,apparant stroke i was given a ct angiography. I was confused or would never have agreed.
This was less than one month ago.. my sinus is,destroyed. My eyes have what the speacialist says is consistent with radiation damage. My skin turned orange brown ..i was takimg pictures in the er and have the proof. My teeth that i always took care of are now loose.my mouth dry. My eyes barely tear.. the fear i feel is beyon d comprehension.
Tonight my eyes are swollen. Si nus and upper teeth so painful as the gums have receded. My skin wont absorb moisturizers it feels changed. and i no longer sweat from the neck up.
I can barely taste. My mouth is dry.i csn barel swallow.
And here is the truth..there is NO ONE .protecting you from those that own or operate these scanners... no one can give you an axact accounting of dosage..
Am i a rare case? Or have others found there is NO ONE protecting them.
I am terrified. Depressed to a state i didnt know existed .
No comfort my fear is beyond anything i have ever known.
A,eye specialist said he saw damage consistent with radiation. Tonight my right eye swollen and painful i see little out of it today.
Doctors can even buy used renovated scanners. Put anyone in. The booth and destroy you.
I saw the doc that did this.. i told him how afraid how miserable i feel. How in less than a month i went from a vital woman to a woman loosing everything .
I am non functional teorror being all i feel emotionally.
He didnt look at my sinus . Eyes. Mouth. He seemed to act like a,child that already knew.
And in the end nothing was admitted and nothing can ever be repaired. I have been destroyed.my future so scary i cant relax for a,moment.
Think this is not true? I am going to share my pictures. And add a video.
Try to find help .there is no agency or person ..NO. ONE who will help you if you are harmed.
No one to report this to.
Never accept a ct scan.. never.
I didnt have a stroke.. now i am worse than dead...
Any doctor who wants to examine me i am willling. Any doctor challenging this i am ready and wiilling.
These are dangerous . This is radiation massive amounts can be spayed into you and in 5 min you could be destoyed too.
And there is no going back and no one to help you.
This is a big money procedure...radiation is dangerous. These machines ate not regulated or operated by qualified people every time. I am proof. I have no idea what will happen to me.. this, happend less than 30 days ago and i am lost my sense of smell 3 days after.
I am in pain tonight .having sinus that produces nothing.i am in pain..
    NO ONE is protcting you..
Try calling and asking anyone for help .say you were hurt in a scanner.. NO ONE will belive you or do anything for you..
    Greed.. its pure greed...
Do they help people? Right up until you are the one hurt..

Imaging is crucial for cancer patients and survivor. It gives the Oncologist a blue print on what treatment the patient should get and what stage the patient is at. Also, risk and the benefits. I’ve had 13 scans during my treatment. But I had to do it, that’s how they found my cancer, blood clots, cyst in my kidney, and if my chemo treatment was working. Which it was. If I didn’t get those scans I would’ve been dead. My friend had cancer also. She’s had over 50 CAT scans, MRIs, Pet scans. Shes been alive for 8 years now. Never been diagnosed. I agree the less radiation the better, avoid them if you need too. But it’s also saved lives.

What questions should people ask before they get a Pet scan or CT?
Should they ask what chemical will be used in them as a tracer and how much, so they can find out about the dangers beforehand?
I guess they should also as the actual amount of radiation the accumulated full body PET or CT would give on the average person at one time too right?
Or maybe they should also ask for written specs of the PET scan or CT?
    Any other questions?
I heard recently that low level radiation is even more dangerous than high. I also found out that some scans are both PET & CT combined. In those cases would they use both at once on all patients, or can they just use one or the other separately? How would a patient know if they used both when they were told they would just use one?

@@LoneGRoEnt sickening. Not to mention they try and cover it up. After I got my head CT and developed radiation sickness I went to all these doctors trying to see if the damage from the radiation can be reversed. Get this, they denied my symptoms and said the radiation is small and safe and do not cause any side effects. Then they tried to commit me to a mental hospital for being “delusional” when I am a completely sane person who wants physical help from damage the doctors created. Luckily I was able to find an honest doctor who agreed I had radiation sickness and took me seriously. I am now getting treated for the burns, rashes, vision loss, bloody nose, bloody ears, dried tongue, lumps in throat, veins that burn and spread all over my body, collapsing lungs, internal stomach bleeding, colon problems, and hollow cracking bones. All symptoms I did not have before I award perfectly healthy. All I had was intense migraines. The reason why I went to the ER was because my migraines got so bad I felt like fainting one day and wanted to make sure it was really migraines and not something else. But other than that I was completely healthy. And the doctors at the hospital who performed my CT deny these symptoms because they don’t want to admit they gave me radiation sickness because they are afraid of getting sued. I am trying to sue them now but it’s a lot harder than I thought. You see after my head CT my chest was in extreme pain so I went back to the ER. They told me it was just anxiety and to go home but I demanded an X-ray. The X-ray came back normal but I did not trust that hospital anymore so I went somewhere else to get it done. And guess what they noticed one of my lungs were collapsing. And I have always have had healthy lungs, like I said I was completely healthy. I used to run marathons and did gymnastics and never had any chest pain ever! I went home and what do you know collapsing lungs are a symptom of radiation sickness. These people wanted to let me die to cover up their wrong doings.
If your baby did not have any immediate symptoms after the head CT then your baby should be fine because I heard that pediatric CTs are lower in radiation dose. I hope. My problem is that they gave me the normal radiation dose of an adult. Which makes sense because I am 19 however I am a very tiny young woman. I am only 5 feet and very skinny. The doctor I am seeing now told me they should have set the machine to a lower dose because I am small. That and I have always been sensitive to medicine and other stuff. But yeah I was able to see how evil healthcare in America can be. Not to mention having to wait for like 7 hours in the ER. I saw so many patients in excruciating pain in the ER waiting room for emergencies and they made them wait 7 hours or more. Then you see these doctors on break on their phones it’s honestly sickening. As someone who was always healthy before and didn’t see the doctor as much I never realized how bad the healthcare is until now. I went to the ER for migraines and came out with all these other symptoms. Sad because growing up in America I was always told it’s one of the best countries and that doctors were heroes who save and help people. Yeah I don’t see them as that anymore. Who knows maybe they have CT scans for population control or too get more money from chemo when the people who got CT scans get cancer later on. Honestly at this point I wouldn’t put it pass them. Also in the WR waiting room I talked to this woman who told me very similar sickening stories of her visits to doctors it’s just unbelievable. These doctors are hurting and killing people and are getting away with it someone really needs to speak up about these things.

    • @Melanie____

Radiation passes straight through you. DNA damage occurs. Too late damage is done. This happens to you everyday but with X-rays etc it’s a years worth of ‘days damage’ But you can reduce dna damage with a good immune system to clean it up as well as plant polyphenols
but what you don’t want to do is overload the work to be done. And each time is another ‘spin of the wheel ‘ chance taken to get a cancer. Most times you won’t. But play enough and someone strikes it.

I have an abdominal pregnancy and I have had a CT scan I understand that the risks are low. Is this correct?

    • @Tagmose89
      @Tagmose89 7 років тому

Depends on the scan (abdominal scan carry greates risk Vs chest scan). In Denmark, we generally don't use any scans on pregnant women if avoidable (as I'm sure in most countries).
But even if you had a CT scan, the threshold for severe defects are around 100 mSV. The "worst" single scan in term of foeatus-radiation is the pelvic CT (25 mSV). Abortion is, in Denmark, never considered until you go over 100 mSV, and even then, is rarely offered
This knowledge is based on international studies, and should therefore apply to your country as well.

At it's growth rate I was expected to only live three months. 13 years this October from the event I know more about cancer than anyone wants to know. I had to save myself as when the tumor was discovered I was declared terminal which is a withdrawal of conventional treatment because if I die during treatment that's a black mark against any treating doctor. I love most of your videos, but here you are taking some bad science into account. They are extrapolating the risks from atomic bomb survivors and or not taking into account previous medical conditions. Takeaway probably a CT scan wont cause cancer on you but don't get them often. There seems to be a threshold according to most studies and some even show an hormetic response. Low doses prevent cancer instead of causing it like higher doses. Still a whole body CT scan is around 15msv so you need about 6 to get above the threshold in your lifetime so if posible avoid them but don't fear them if you need them.

The data is not full proof , yeah its possible but there's too many confounding variables to account for. Hormesis is a plausible hypothesis but the results are stochastic. Another model shows that at low doses, Ionizing radiation could have a steeper gradient i.e. could potentially be more harmful. Most people extrapolate from the LNT model. The problem is, a lot of experts play nonchalant about the effects of a Ct or X-Ray scan when in reality its extremely dangerous. These high energy waves hit electrons at an sub atomic level, changing the very nature of the molecule. they literally bust the Double strand of your DNA. the low dose X ray on average may cause 4 Dsbs per cell , seemingly small but in the grand scheme of billions of cells you can imagine how huge the damage is. A single X ray could be about 0.2 msv and people will argue that in a year we naturally exposed to about 2.4 msv but theres a huge difference , that 2.4 msv is spread out over a year while the 0.2 msv is blasted in a fraction of a second overwhelming our DNA repair mechanisms hence leading to dna mutations or epigenetic changes. It takes a single unlucky mutation to sprout a tumor and change the course of your life , is the risk worthed ? We are not totally blind , they are other imaging modalities we can opt for if need be. There also other damages too from Ionizing Radiation.

There are differences among cancers but if you know chemo/surgery will give you an additional 5 years. Will you not take it? Regarding diabetes, hypertension and atherosclerosis I agree is best treated/prevented by lifestyle. Doctors try tell their patients that, but compliance is incredible low. You are part of the people who keep people from changing their lifestyle because they have no hope and think they can't do anything although that's very wrong.
