Well, Mark, thanks for sharing old footage of PhuBai, as soldiers and Marines saw it back in 1969. I was a U.S. Marine Sgt, 23 years old, and was in the areas of Hue, PhuBai, Hung Thuy, Phu Loc, between 1967-68, rode up and down Highway 1 to Danang, went on ops, worked out of Phu Bai Combat base. If you take a look at the area now, and note a latest video about PhuBai airport today, you will see how it changed after the war. I remember being on a chopper over the mountains near highway one and the coast, and thought to myself how beautiful Vietnam looked at that time. The sea and the mountains were scenic indeed.
I arrived in Phu Bai one week after the TET Offensive. The barracks beside mine took a direct rocket hit. I was a crew chief on a Huey, 67N20 (MOS. No confirmed kills. I sleep with a clear conscience however I experience occasional flash backs that bring tears to my eyes. The Mai Lai massacre brought me to my kneees. May the good Lord bless you all.
My dad was there from 70-71. I never got to talk to him but know some stuff from letters he wrote and a tape he sent back. Bunch of pictures too. He was in the maintenance battalion I think he worked on Jeeps and was part of something called Operation Dewey Canyon II. And during the time he was there a soldier named Lenley was killed when someone tossed a grenade in his hooch and they never found out who did it. He complained on the tape that they served roast beef too much on the base and never wanted to see a cow when he came back 😂
Is their a group that I can join to see more videos of the people who were in Phu Bai in the Vietnam War ! My daddy was stationed there and I don’t have his unit number ! He would like to see his Seargeant if he made it back home ! I have pictures of my daddy when he was stationed there but I will have to ask his permission before I post them ! We are definitely very private people and I don’t share my own pictures of myself on Facebook

The ABCs of Salvation, or how to be right with God, and know you're going to Heaven: A-dmit that you're a sinner, and need a Savior. As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:10 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 B-elieve that Jesus Christ died paying the penalty for your sins, and rose from the grave. He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross. 1 Peter 2:24 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures... 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 C-all on the Lord Jesus Christ to save you, and trust only in Him for your salvation. If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13 The moment you "believe," or, put your trust in what Jesus has done for you, God saves you and your eternal destiny in Heaven is assured. You go from spiritual death to eternal life the moment you believe. Jesus said it this way: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
