I always kind of figured that this was a possibility. Matt was never broken up about his father's death like his sister Christie was, taking their mother's side, he spoke up for his mother at the parole hearing, and Nancy (mom) stated that the dad was verbally abusive towards him. So not really a stretch that he would be physically abusive towards her.
Rightt and the sister just won't listen to him even though she was the one living at a college campus

The guy was abusive, why do they feel so sorry for the dad getting shot. He was a terrible man. More women need to stand up to these men.
Casey sounds less Australian each season
I’ve noticed that as well. But like anyone, if you live somewhere long enough, your accent changes.
It's because he has a speech coach on set to help him hide his accent when he is playing Casey, Jesse still has his Australian accent

& to always make sure you document the abuse. Take pictures of bruises. Video record. Etc.

@@phoneixwolf6054 Well, the amount of smoke in the room is breathable as it's very light. They just put there masks on at the door because the don't know how much is actually in there before they enter.

And why is it the victim of DV that has to leave???
Because the abuser and often even those who aren't normally physical violent will become so at the loss of control or losing something. They often see the victims as there possession. Its safer for everyone for the victim to leave as there's less fighting, usually better to leave a place where there are so many bad experiences and memories, and helps prevent the abuser from knowing their location. If the abuser leaves he knows where their victim is and can escalate to other behaviors. This can include threats, acts of vandilism, violence, and more. Abuse doesn't end when they are separated, often the abuser still tries to exert control over the other person and gets pissed off when they can't. An alarming amount of abusers also escalate extremely after being outted, possibly losing their victim, and/or being held responsible for their actions, including using lethal force. Extremely rare are the abusers that accept it and move on or get help, its a cycle they often are unwilling to break.

He tried to kill her first kmt so
Her husband was a wife beater. He did nothing but hurt her and cause trouble for both the fire and police departments. So of course Casey and Severide are gonna stick up for her. The man survived and he was gonna wind up in prison either way. Just a quick phone call to Antonio or Voight.
Maybe Britt and Casey will get together is Antonio back with his wife.
