A lot of UA-camrs do sponsorship stuff, but you knocked this one out of the park. Pretty sure the overlords at LG are pleased with their investment, they should be. Brilliant robot!
most UA-camrs would just mention the product at the beginning and at the end of a video but he made a two-part series building a robot practically from scratch!
I wonder what parts of the agreement came from LG and what parts from James. If it was some PR person from LG that started it, they have a keen eye for promotion. Also note the general lack of dishonesty.
Your best robot EVER! You have GOT to take it to cosplay or other conventions, people will love it! And LG should be REAL happy with your robot too - it shows off the speakers brilliantly! Great video!
You know, I can honestly say This really makes me want to buy those speakers more than any other kind of advertisement would have lol. Hes like a cooler, smaller Johnny-5 hed be great at a party.
It would be cool to see if you can tune the PID controllers (proportional gain perhaps?) to increase or decrease the back and forth oscillation frequency when there are no control inputs. You could use a mic with some DSP to find the beat, and have it rock back and forth in time to the beat!
Last balancer I tried, I found it helped a lot to mount the accelerometer with rubber cushions. As the motors engage to react to drift, they jerk the robot and it has trouble tracking Down.
I have an old game from years ago, Star Wars Droidworks, and for whatever reason you could make your droids dance. I so wish I could see this dancing to that music from the game. Nostalgia would go through the roof!
I like the LG advertisement, I mean Robot LOL. That's a lot of 3D printing. Now if you only add a 'Follow me' mode, and it can carry luggage, Gold clubs or shopping :-)
Honestly that’s really awesome. My kids would love that ! (And me) make them and sell them as kits or something? I would make one but I’m too stupid lol
Dear James, great fun build and video- The many great responses is really encouraging. Absolutely enjoyed the magnetic arms and panels! Have you reached a criteria limit in your brief from LG? Is say, the idea of animating with interchangeable arms and getting the 'hands' to actually function with greater practicality perhaps wirelessly something you'd be interested in developing and packing with more servos and electronics? Would that be too much over engineering? Whatever you decide to do there' something really appealing in this project as it stands of course! Thanks mate for sharing as you do! Is inspiring. @@jamesbruton Hi James, are you still planning on continuing to make videos in this series of the Boombox robot? If not, would you be willing to release the CAD files so that we can build our own? I really would like to build this robot for my nieces and nephew.
Awesome! Just curious if you've considered using ironless/coreless motor instead of the brushless and if you've found one with sufficient power (though these have much higher acceleration)
This is your best robot ever. And I think not so difficult to make also for others. What do you recommend would be the cost of the hardware? Should it work also with some cheaper Motors and drivers?
Very very cool. Do you ever have nightmares about all of your robots coming alive and taking over? I think I would of I worked on walking robots all day everyday.
Hi James, I'd like to start by saying that you are an inspiration for all of us makers out there! I am a mentor in a FIRST robotics team. We are planing on building our on driving station and these joysticks you use look really good four our project. Could you share a link to where you found them? Thank you for your inspiring videos!

@@Marci124 may I ask how is he dishonest .
@@Marci124 I bet LG wanted James to just make a super simple robot but he took it a step further. James seems like that type of guy.
I propose a change to the UA-cam TOS: that all maker channels receiving sponsorship shall be required to build the sponsor's product into a robot.
Simpler than your normal builds but surprisingly appealing, the speaker as eyes really works well.
Your best robot EVER! You have GOT to take it to cosplay or other conventions, people will love it! And LG should be REAL happy with your robot too - it shows off the speakers brilliantly! Great video!
LG most probably owns the robot now for their promotions. Not positive but more than likely.
Have you watched opendog?
He usually does take all his creations to conventions
@@hajmola7605 he probs hasnt
That's the best speaker advertisement ever
Ikr
James. This is your best design! I like it a lot!
Basic but i like it
Best AD ever, dont need a speaker, but kinda want one now
This will instantly become the heart of any party 😀
Surely it will
Looks like the robot was having fun
The magnetic attachment panels are brilliant! Great idea James.
Sir you are GENIUS.
You know, I can honestly say This really makes me want to buy those speakers more than any other kind of advertisement would have lol. Hes like a cooler, smaller Johnny-5 hed be great at a party.
Your robot dances better than John Travolta. : ) Clever shoulder joint. Great video. Cheers! : )
The dancing scene at the end remind me strong at the dancing scene out of Short Circuit.
It looks nice at the end. I enjoyed watching this video. Thanks!
Best balancing robot I've seen. Awesome job!!
The robot got some moves!
Finally an awesome and working project!
Fantastic work!
thanks!
My favourite project so far.
This robot has better dance moves than I have...
Wow :o arm magnet !!

That be amazing but not sure if he will
Awesome job James!
Congrats on making such an excellent way of showing off those LG speakers - they must be well pleased with what you have done.
This is a great build. This worked out really well. Keep it up.
Thanks!
In a word Epic!. I love this and would even like to build it one day.
Simply amazing
The more I see this robot, the more I want those speakers!! Damn! I am susceptible to advertising after all... damn you LG!!
Love the ending (shades of Short Circuit in there) - superb build!
Think you will make the code open for this? I would love to make one to carry my tool bag at the museum I work at.
Last balancer I tried, I found it helped a lot to mount the accelerometer with rubber cushions. As the motors engage to react to drift, they jerk the robot and it has trouble tracking Down.
thanks for the idea, I'll try it on my project
the robot dancing was amazing kkkk
Brilliant James!!!!!!
very slick design.
Really cool project!
For normal youtuber this would be the build of a year for James it's just another friday build. He make like it's casual X_X
I have an old game from years ago, Star Wars Droidworks, and for whatever reason you could make your droids dance.
I so wish I could see this dancing to that music from the game. Nostalgia would go through the roof!

For reference
Nice project simple and to the point!!! Lovely
The disco bit was epic! :D
Not sure why but this is one of my favorite robots you built and it seemed like a fast build. I’d like to see you build more balancing robots.
TraVOLTa!!!! Great build Sir!
the disco dance part is hilarious
Great build James!
It reminds me of your BB8 build love it
hi, where I can to buy already ?
@JamesBruton this is amazing
you really are one of the coolest people
How can i do an equal robot ...? how can i have your documentation
4:07 OMG BIG RED BUTTON
I WANNA PRESS IT
which filament do you use?
YES!!! I love this project, I think I'm going to have to make something like this.
Awesome build. Please add a dynamic dance feature that is driven by the music it is playing. Hope to see this at future LG expo's.
I honestly think this is one of your best projects and I could actually see it becoming commercially available. Excellent job James.👍
Still my hero!
Perfectly wrapped ! I suspect however that the BOM for this one must be pretty hefty with all the luxury components.
LG should hire someone to drive this robot around in their office and at conventions.
Put a tray stabilized to always be level on its boombox head and you'd have a robotic Alfred LOL
Where do you buy the aluminium extrusion ? Thanks for responding
Love it, definitely one of your better builds, i like you doing robots
Amazing
thanks!
Having flash backs to the dancing with Bender episode. ;-)
add some leds and a defuser panel to the body to make it glow
Amazing project !!!
Can I contact you regarding your project?
Do the robot party at the end of each project!
That is absolutely silly, and I love it!
love it!
Great job ! Thank you for sharing.
Hi James, you designs are awesome! What bearing did you use on the shoulder hub? I was just looking for something similar.
Could you make a self balancing not with legs? Like Ascento? That would be sooo awesome!!!
can you provide the code for me to study?

Love the project.
Great project, I think I need one... lol, Would be interesting to know the actual cost to build...
nice robot
You should use the arms to help balance for a quicker recovery when it starts to lose balance from like a push backwards it extends them forward.
What is the name of that JAM?
Honestly that’s really awesome. My kids would love that ! (And me) make them and sell them as kits or something? I would make one but I’m too stupid lol
LOL Genius!. Clever stuff!
Awesome but feeling little bad ☹️ for the static hands of the robot
PLEASE do a video with the Boombox robot, Robot-X and openDog all dancing to disco music!

I always look forward to james' power stance every time I watch a new video
So will it make an appearance with Herbert Hoover?
where do you buy the joysticks from? they look pretty heavy duty
eBay

Yes, after part 5
