I was 2 years old when this was done; found out later we were related as cousins; my dad grew up with him. Got too meet him 3 times during my lifetime. Truly an honor
Hi, I only 1st heard of Webb , back in the early 2000s, 😔 , even though I was born 23rd May 1968 from northern Ireland UK, but just love his songs,,! But back when I was in my early teens, I was playing hank Williams on an old 45,,!
Sad to see hardley any comments to this post. I read so many comments of people complaining of how they wish Music today was like it was back then, when they have the chance to hear it, they don't listen. Have to remember, the reason music has changed, is because people have.
Strange that a horror movie made me fall in love with classic country music. It began with Webb pierce all the way to holly Williams Hank Williams JR and SR and more such as them
I used to hear him sing this song back in the early fifties. We had a tube radio and listened to wsm Nashville Tn. Sometimes we could pick up the Louisiana Hayride. I was young but loved his voice their was no such thing as rockinroll.
When i first heard this song i thought he was singing war and war and then i suddenly realize it was more and more great song with great voice rip to the all time singer webb pierce he will always be in our heart so he aint really gone hes up in heaven watching over us
From 1951 to 1956, Webb Pierce was the top record selling singer in country music. The emergence of Elvis Presley hurt Pierce's sales immensely, but many country star's sales started declining because of the new rocknroll style of Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, and others. It took a few years for country music to recover in the U.S. with new "honky-tonkers" such as Buck Owens, George Jones, and even Ray Price getting exceptionally popular during the early 1960s, even though these performers had been around since the mid 1950s. Pierce had some success in the early 1960s, but he never fully recovered after that initial explosion of 50s rocknroll of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, Bill Haley, Fats Domino, and of course Presley.🎸
I'm a huge fan of Webb's, even though here in the UK virtually no one has ever heard of him. There's an Irish singer called Paddy O'Brien who sounds quite similar.
Made from 1952 into the '60's at various locations using a 35MM movie camera and shot in color, by Al Gannaway Productions. They were played on T.V., movie houses. They are available today. (hard to find). A very fine collection with over 120 performances by Grand Ole Opry Stars. Interesting to note Webb when he looks to his left, just above ceiling level, as he looks up. He sees hinself on a monitor.
So you may never see this but I was wondering where one would find these old recordings. My Grandpa was Jack Kay and one of Webb’s fiddle players from 51-55 or 56. I have been on the search for videos for years and so far I have only found 1 or 2 on UA-cam with him in it. It would be mostly the wondering boys record songs he would be on
Yo conoci esta canción por la peli el despertar del diablo o las colinas tienen ojos como la conozcan y al principio me daba miedo jaja pero ahora me gusta
Phenomenal song and performance. But every time I hear it I always think of The Hills Have Eyes 😂
Actually me too 😂😂😂
That's why I know it and why I'm here now! 😂
Omg lol I'm watching hills have eyes...and wanted to know who sang thus 😮
I get it! I’m watching it
Neither do I
Phenomenal voice . Sad song . Outstanding performance. Top 5 country artists of all time.
One of the many songs that made a Webb fan of me, Love that voice.
Hey how are you doing…?
Country singers definitely have amazing singing voices. You won't often hear someone sing this well today without autotune
Today's so called singers can't carry a tune ,and they all sound the same .
We always hear this take from every asshole on UA-cam, congrats.
@@theresawilliams9578 I agree. I only listen to country and 50-80s when it comes to singing :)
I'm guessing you haven't heard Nick Shoulders and Sierra Ferrell's version of this then? @@nr1NPC
Like.. never. !
I remember hearing this a long time ago and thinking there’s no way I’ll forget about her. Thankfully I did!
Time heals all wounds. Glad to hear you're doing better.
Don't let great old country music die,,! God Bless from northern Ireland UK, 🇬🇧🤝 , born May 23rd 1968 ,
Agreed from Southern Ireland, better than the modern rubbish……great drinking music, I’d say…
Look at that suit....Class act in every way

County was true back then. It was a lifestyle, those days are long gone.
that’s is true because of today music has way too much beat and vibrations.

Here in Brazil and enjoying such a beatiful song.
Tema de abertura do filme Viajem Maldita
Heart felt and real, yet relaxed Webb knew his musical path for sure!
A great for sure he was my first 50s country artist I first listen next to Hank williams .

@@theresawilliams9578 well at least in the surface but you are correct
In '65 someone asked me if I liked folk music. Sure, said my 16 year old self, I listen to KOMA out of Oklahoma City all the time.
What an amazing song reminds me of my dad every time I here it love this song so much

Does anyone know what year this came out?
Did he open for elvis Presley or vice versa in 1955?
I think Elvis opened for Webb since he hadn't hit superstardom yet in 55
A romantic song 😂😂
Es la canción del despertar del diablo
Viajem maldita! Que medo
The Hills Have Eyes 😐
What the heck is that d chord?
A D E lol
It's an A with an extra trebley note added in the seventh fret of the high E string. Once you get into the habit of it you can't do it any other way.
@@Dylan90210 I think it's the 5th fret Dylan.....7th would be pretty hard to reach?!
