I have 0 contributions to any form of comedy contest but am observing a reluctance within the audience at these shows. The comedians are breaking their necks to be that quick and or professional while performing and in my experience NYC crowds seem to have the least amount of interest available at any given time. Whether that’s a mark on society as a whole or one or more parts of the countries individual views on free speech is one thing; but you betta laugh when the getting is good. This show was exceptional and I heard nary a peep from the audience. I understand you need to fill seats you pass some out to whoever’s touching their toes on the sidewalk out front but god damn; I’ve pitched suboxone to rooms full of heroin addicts more excited
And again; that’s not saying the comedians weren’t good. I thought it was a knockout but how the fuck could a room full of alive people so earnestly hold back from jokes that were in no way going to reflect their next job interview?
