The thing is if you get too famous, there is a point when the stuff that comes along with it is not addictive anymore, instead, it starts to become threatening, and dangerous. They never reached that point. good for them.
Kind of like Michael Jackson. He got so famous, he literally couldn't go out in public without a disguise or a platoon of bodyguards. That's no way to live. No wonder the guy was messed up. I truly hope he is finally at peace.
You can easily tell the connection between the video of Wild Boys and the movie Highlander ... visually very appealing! Both directed by Russell Mulcahy!
If you go back and read the interviews from the old days, you will see how whitewashed the band were back then. They themselves claimed no one was "into drugs" when John and Andy were clearly heavy alcohol and cocaine users. There are several clips on UA-cam where John and Andy were obviously drunk, high, or BOTH. I'm glad they quit (how many times DID John go into rehab??), but back then, it was commonplace for bands to "indulge" in the less wholesome of habits. I've been in rehab myself, for an opioid addiction after back surgery and I can tell you, it is NOT easy to get off that garbage. I am currently 19 years clean and sober. It's been a long, hard road, but I don't regret a single minute of the pure agony of withdrawal.
I really miss DD from the early days👍I had their albums up to their Decade CD🤗I liked Power Station and Arcadia but DD was the best with Nick, John, Simon, Andy and Roger🤗
I've been a fan of theirs since 83 or so and even then I knew John was a drug addict. He looked like one in many photos I saw and though I was 13 I knew.
Is that a coke John's drinking? My kind of man. 😃 Dang he's soooo stunning. I understand why she peed! If I, or my Nigel lovin' friends had gotten to meet him we might have peed our pants from the excitement. But meeting any of them we might have, but dang, he's def the hottest one! ❤️
This Behind the Music Special is inaccurate..the writers of this is trying to make us believe JT went to rehab in 85/86. When in fact it wasn't untill mid 90's or just a few year before that he went to rehab. Sure he did try to quit drinking/ coke when his daughter was born but he was right back at soon after. This special also leaves so much out info that should be said about DD..perhaps someone will do a Special and get it right.
Okay boys and girls over here, did I hear that quite correct; that the girl who was ignored by John at first, when he finally looked at her she peed over the floor, like an extremely happy dog? That sounds so otherworldly to me it isn't even imaginable!
April Gosa Really? Happy Peeing then! :-) I am happy I kept my bladder together when I stood right in front of him otherwise I would have peed all over his expensive shoes, that would have been an embarrassment ...
Alot of folks don't want to do Interviews. Andrew Ridgeley didn't want to be interviewed when they did a profile on George Michael and Peter Cetera didn't want to be Interviewed when they did a profile on Chicago.

Ironic how John was the biggest heart-throb but started out only being interested in the music craft

watch "Wild Boys, The Story of Duran Duran" they tell everything correctly
John hid is addiction very well. I mean he's very candid about it now.
The story wasn't about him...it was about the band🤨
@@rubyweymouth6843 He was part of the band so it's about him as much as anyone

Only an addict can recognize addicts

Andy's a hypocrite because he's never acknowledged his drug and alcohol problem. Ar least John admits to his problems and got help.
Andy did admit to his drug and alcohol problems though….
