There is a special CBP-Verse mini comic at the end of this episode.
This episode on CBP: noticing how much of a serious business Kiddo’s situation was, Twinkie scolds the dummy nurses who were taking care of the redhead teen. The truth of the matter was that not only they were not treating her the correct way, but they were in fact hastening her demise by giving her sugar while she suffers from diabetes. As soon as they noticed there were doing it wrong all along, Nurse McScalpel and the others enter panic mode, realizing how flawed their education on human health was.
“Geez! Are you saying we could’ve killed our patient!?” “YES! I’m actually surprised that she’s still alive at this point. Hurry, we need to do something to lower her blood sugar levels before it’s too late!” “But how!?”
At that moment, both Twinkie and cargo shouted. Then Twinkie tried her best to explain the idea that popped in her head.
“Insulin!” “Oh?” “Insulin is a hormone that is important in the metabolism of carbohydrates, promotes the absortio of glucose and… ah, this might as well be rocket science for you… Think of it as… I dunno… anti-sugar. Humans produce it in a thing called pancreas and…” “OH DEAR, so that’s what that little entrail thing we saw on book is good for? We’d never figure it out. Humans are weird…” “Yes we are weird indeed! Look, where’s the insulin supply on this hosp…” “We don’t have any. I mean, why would we have anti-sugar?” “Holy Baby Jesus juggling flaming chainsaws on a solar-powered pogo stick… If she doesn’t take any of it, she will DIE!”
Visibly anguished, the nurses don’t know what to do and everyone panics, until Cargo has an idea.
This bracelet you noticed on her… it said Type 1 diabetes, right?” “Yeah.” It means that she needs regular insulin shots. I must assume she has an insulin stash somewhere. A relative of mine used it, so I know it has to be a fridge or something, you can’t store the darned thing at room temperature.”
Just as Cargo said that, a proverbial light bulb ignited on Twinkie’s head.
“So this is why I saw Kiddo near the Toy Golem’s cafeteria fridge a few times? I mean, she can’t cook to save her ginger butt… it has to be it! We need to contact Debbie, she’s in charge of the Golem, she’d do the arrangements to find the darned thing and get it here!”
