Just saw this one on local market for steal price. I liked the first one and now getting the info this one has gotten rid of the original lootboxes. Definitely going to fetch that game today.
Just bought the game a few days ago after finally playing shadow of Mordor. First thing that pops up in the main menu is WB saying that they have taken the market out of the game due to player base dissatisfaction. Just wanted to thank you all for making it happen😘
General Kenobi Hi! Im planning to buy the game next week and I just wanted to confirm some things :) Is the nemesis system really dynamic? Are there no repetitions in orc models and orc voices? I know stat-wise they are different (aka some are afraid of spiders) but just how dynamic are their appearances? Does it get repetitive somewhere down the line? Like does no two orcs look and feel the same? Also how long is the story and how ‘dynamic’ is the nemsis system? Thank you! :)
@@robertmech3069 in the last update they also added new armors (specifically Nazgul masks), two new difficulties, increased the level cap, made xp faster to get, epic and legendary orcs show up more often, and there is more incentive to play once done with the main story with new modes and gaining skills after reaching max level so you can keep getting stronger.
I remember when my orc named Snafu the Moaner met Something the Groaner and when they went face to face all they just moaned and groaned at eachother before fighting.
I greatly enjoyed of Brakú the suspect being executed by Garm the executioner only to be assaulted by Bruz the murderer. Talk about a crime show gone savage.
For anyone coming to this review in 2019, they’ve removed micro transactions, and it is 100% worth the 59.99 price tag, which includes all expansions and DLC. Easily 8/10 and a great sequel to Shadow of Mordor.
Pedro Vilar Yeah it is. Trust me, one of the best video games I bought in recent memories. The nemesis system is perfection, and it has over 10 fortresses to take over.
JJ C What kind of an idiot calls another person an idiot just for how they spend their money? What if Lil Timmies daddy is a brain surgeon and brings home 500k a year. Is Lil Timmy an idiot for spending his money how he wants? And before you say it, I don't own this game, or any other single player game with loot boxes/Micro transactions. I honestly can't even name another one besides this. Edit:I guess Skyrim has it now due to Creation Club, but they all suck and the free mods are far better.
Zovioh_FGC What kind of stupid logic is that? Lil Timmy's dad earned 500k a year, he can buy as much cocaine and child prostitutes as he wants. Is he an idiot for doing that? Nahh he's just "spending his money how he wants". Just because you want to purchase or fund something with your money doesn't mean you're not allowed to be criticized for it.
Bill Qiu Comparing throwing a few dollars into loot boxes with using it to buy a life ruining substance is beyond stupid, and you're arguing against something that's beside the point. My point was that what is a "waste" of money is completely subjective, and largely based on how much money the individual has. And beyond that, if the loot boxes or skins or whatever enhance somebody's experience in a game, I don't really see how that was a waste.
Bill Qiu It seems like there's a slight miscommunication here. Of course there are stupid ways to spend your money and I do think people should be judged for that I just don't think buying loot boxes or microtransactions in video game is one of them. Assuming you can afford it, buying dlc doesn't damage your health or break the law, like your examples.
The Nemesis System is a true genius of gaming. I wish more games could create or even allow us to create our own challenges outside the narrative or what they "planned". It’s phenomenal
Im afraid that's locked behind a Gold Warchest, which you can get inside other chests and you get those by entering a special code you can find in the newsletter after buying the season pass.
Phony Pony Bologna I mean if they were milking it like people were making it seem they wouldn't have changed The Shadow Wars and added like 20 more levels. It seems they do actually care. Even if it was a bit of a cash grab in the process
Phony Pony Bologna You're implying that this happens on a regular basis, when in reality most publishers do not spend time and resources into removing loot box systems from their games if these systems are profitable, especially when they've only been in their games for six months, since they cam still make a profit years down the line. The reason they were removed from SoW is because they *weren't* making a profit off of them, and they weren't making a profit because Monolith designed the game to make the loot boxes as unappealing as possible.
Joe If they cared they wouldn't have put it in in the first place and let it sit out for what was it? At least a year maybe 2? Before finally patching it out. They got their pound of flesh and when the loot boxes started to become public enemy number one they saw an opportunity for some good PR in the process. So they removed the loot boxes, realized it totally fucked game progression so they altered the end game content to make it less insidious. Don't excuse the company that is deliberately trying to fuck YOU over.
Enuma Elish The paid loot boxes were in Shadow of War for a grand total of 6 months, not 2 years. Also, when you talk about "they", you're actually talking about two completely different groups of people, the publishers and the developers. The publishers were the ones who wanted to have a microtransaction system in a predominantly singleplayer focused game, while the developers were the ones who actually had to implement said system into the game. The reason why the microtransaction system could be removed from SoW barely six months after launch was due to the way in which the devs implemented the loot boxes into the game. You never felt the need to purchase additional resources as the game was designed to give you as many of them as you needed by simply playing through it, the content that you received from the loot boxes was never exclusive to them, in fact it was almost always worse than what you found while playing through the game, and even if you did want to purchase loot boxes you could still do so with the tons of in-game currency the game gave you or earn them as rewards for in-game challenges and online missions. The developers deliberately set up the system to be as unappealing as possible and as a result the loot boxes sold incredibly poorly If the loot boxes broke game progression then their removal would have coincided with the July patch, but the July patch came two months after the paid loot boxes were removed. If they truly did have this kind of effect on the progression then you would have expected the game to be nearly unplayable for those two months...and yet it wasn't. The endgame content getting changed in the July patch had absolutely nothing to do with the removal of the loot boxes as they had no effect on progression whatsoever. In order to "beat" act IV Shadow Wars and unlock the epilogue cutscene you had to go through 20 repetitive Shadow War missions which were also designed to allow you to level up and you HAD to go through these missions regardless of how many loot boxes you purchased as none of them allow you to skip this grind. Also, the aim of these missions was to dispatch waves of orcs that attacked you by either killing them, which gave you gear, or dominating them, which gave you followers, the same exact resources than you'd get through the loot boxes and resources which you HAD to acquire in order to progress so purchasing loot boxes for this stage in the game was beyond pointless. What the July patch did, among many other things, was to shorten the number of SW missions required to unlock the epilogue cutscene...however it also increased the level cap so while you can more easily "beat" the game now, you actually have to grind even more to reach max level and as the infinitely repeatable Shadow Wars are still the best source of XP you will still have to go through a lot of these missions. The SW grind was one by design, and there was absolutely nothing insidious about it.

That's a very dumb comparison. You don't need to pay anything extra in this game to get anything essential. The vast majority of people actually don't pay anything extra and play through the game just fine.
Raidoton My point is that you pay for something you expect it to be complete. Video games are one of the few forms of entertainment that this practice seems to be ok these days. But is it really okay? This “pay to win” format mainly appeals to young kids, people with addictive personalities, hoarders or people with not much patience so prefer to cheat to progress (in my opinion). Shelling out more cash on a game you have just paid good money for clearly seems like they are taking advantage of us. That’s why I don’t bother with nonsense racketeering of this kind and don’t buy into it.
PierreVonStaines Not missing any content if you don’t buy micro transactions. So your comparison is still dumb. You’re acting as if there’s things you can’t get unless you use micro transactions. That’s not the case. They’re just timesavers. There is no pay to win here. Not to mention that these warchests and loot boxes can be bought using the in game currency. That’s called a market. They’re in open world games. Crazy concept, I know. Who would’ve ever thought that you could use in game money to hire followers and buy gear?
His comparison is dumb, yes, but are we still going to sit here and say microtransactions are amazing and should stay in gaming? His intention is what you should follow, not his analogy Dudesters. Great game, Microtransactions need to die.
also with the destruction of visceral games I got a really bad feeling that the game they were making was going to be great but then corporate took control and probably going to force microtransactions into that single player Star Wars game
Oh my sweet summer child you are naive If you think that after EA is done with it, it wont have multiplayer and always online bullshit shoehorned into it together with lootboxes similar to destiny. Actually lets call it by what it is, it will probably be another destiny clone just like they try to copy call of duty every single year
EA is disgusting for what they have done and will do to star wars. Its probably one of the hardest hits to gaming for me period as its my favorite franchise.
@@Krosstic It kinda does matter, as it showes they thought they could get away with putting them in. Look, honestly, I don't really care about arguing over the Internet about this, (over a comment I don't even remember making) so let's just agree we have the right to our own opinion and leave it at that.
Not just "single player games", games in general, the reason we got here is because of the constant mantra of "it's just for multiplayer"/"it's just cosmetic" in other games =/
STUNTS Back in D1 we were forced to use binary to complete a code for one exotic weapon, D1 definetly wasnt for kids, while D2 is much shittier, scaled down and simpler version of D1, unfortunetly D1 in its third year was a perfect game but bungie scrapped most of the features that made it great when they were making D2. Btw fun fact more than 50% of destiny comunity are people who are 16+
Pjer Dujmovic You sound a little butthurt the guy called you a kid for liking destiny. You're kinda proving his point by your immature and childish backlash. If you want to be seen as an adult then act like one.
That High Halo Guy, then do what Eddy Griffin did, get naked geab a frozen chicken out of the freezer and start chanting voodoo shit as you open the door. They will think you're the revil, eithet they will flee or bow down to you as their lord and saviour. Either option is good. 😂
reachcole yeah but it was discussed as if it was going to cause the new crash of the gaming industry, 1983 all over again...I think it's rather the tree hiding the forest to be honest... and even if you use the argument that they are prodding the terrain to include more lootboxes in single player games in the future... well Dead Space 3 already covered that ground
Lord Gamer His...virtual money? You realize that all the loot boxes in this game were purchasable with in-game currency and could also be earned through normal gameplay, right? In fact, this is probably one of the main reasons the developers were able to remove them barely six months after launch since they weren't making a lot of money off of them, and judging by how the game was designed they really weren't made to be very profitable.
Michael Snavley General Kenobi Hi! Im planning to buy the game next week and I just wanted to confirm some things :) Is the nemesis system really dynamic? @@ramage7646 Little late, but the models and voices themselves are not too dynamic. There is variety, but they're not exactly all unique. You shouldn't feel any repetitiveness in that area for a long time though!
Dat Boi Dovahkiin i was wondering why they where gone i only got the game and i though i killed the merchant even after i gave me the tutorial for the loot box's
Well he sort of said it, without the excessive late game grinding, crashing and microtransactions an 8. I dont know about crashing never had such issues since launch with it but the other two have since been fixed or removed. I think the game with all its dlc defi is around an 8-9 today. But then again it has its flaws of course.
I would say a solid 8/10 imo, great game like it's predecessor! If they didn't pull off that microtransactions stunt at first they would've got far better PR on release, but at least they got rid of the dumb system!
@Luis Martinez it's not complicated at all, it's similar to the Batman Arkham games and the recent Spiderman PS4 title from Insomniac! It's really fun and has diverse tactics and combos like most beat em up games!
I remember in Shadow of Mordor there was an Uruk I recruited & all he did was chuckle. Not one word came out of his mouth, it really makes my day just hearing him chuckle while executing himself some orcs. He doesn’t even ask for someone’s final words he just finds it all funny for some reason.
You see, and a game like the Witcher 3 would never do this to you. Devs need to follow in CD Projekt Red's tracks. They know how to deliver an amazing experience without all the expansion/store nonsense. Why do I bring up a 2 year old game? Because nothing will beat it.
This is most likely it. They probably pre-rendered all those cutscenes a long time before they decided to add different armor sets and stuff and they said fuck it, we're not changing the cutscenes.
I know in the (Bungie) Halo games the cutscenes are not pre-rendered, but scripted animations which is apparent when you see dead bodies or vehicles in the same places which can be hilarious at times. Pre-rendered cutscenes are not as enjoyable when you notice it is the *exact* same thing every time regardless of everything else going on. Perhaps an advantage of them are better details if you are using assets outside the game engine.
I start playing this game now, I am enjoying it a lot. I love how it is always better to play a game when it is a little old and it has all the DLCs and all the fixes and 50% discount.
there was one problem if for whatever reason ps4 turned off forcefully u will have to start over for this game it happened with me a lot cause in lebanon we dont have 24 hours electricity and nowadays its a lot worst cause cant know when it will go off
It'z ya boi the mini non official are much appreciated for us subscribers that subscribed for the reviews. There really nice for getting by the couple week pass before an official one comes out
David Walker WB CEO needed a quick buck to tip his waitress then make this game MTs, thats it. Sorry, but there isnt a market experiment going on in SOW
Coming 2017: EA's Doom Platinum Plus Edition, with day one BFG DLC and Argent D'Nur being blocked until you have enough Upgrade points, which can also be bought alongside randomly selected weapon and Praetor upgrades found in UAC "Weapon Container" loot boxes.
By the way it took less than 24 hours to crack the game and within 2 days someone figured out that you can edit the basic files to give yourself infinite of the micro-transaction currency.
Doom multiplayer has no microtransactions whatsoever, and it is actually so good and fun. Much better than CoD in my opinion. Sadly, maybe because of the major critics' negative reviews, not a lot of people are playing the multiplayer than the game deserves
I know it's late. Just completed the game. Bloody love it. They really went all out and more compared to the first one. Was blown away by how much it improved. Plus I got to fly a freaking dragon and fight a Balrog. Can't get much better then that! 9/10 for me.
The personality of the orcs you recruit is by far the best part of the game. It helps it feel alive even when the game has pretty much ended during the fourth act.
at this point i think the reviewers/lets players think it's a funny joke. i'm american and i have no issue pronouncing it. granted i'm a fantasy nerd but still
abeabeification I agree but I got it and you can play the game with out buying them I havent gotten to the shadow wars part so that might change but 32 hours in I'm having fun and haven't paid more than the 60 for the game but then again you never need a reason to save money right
I'm really sad about this game. From everything I've seen about it, it's a really good game. However, I cannot abide the terrible loot boxes ham-fisted into it. For me it doesn't matter how much these microtransactions actually effect the game, the fact that they're there is the real insult. I don't even want to deal with the temptation so I'm gonna have to give this game a pass.
This game is 10/10 for me. The fighting is absolute savage , i have been a gamer for over 30 years and this is by far the best swordplay ever in a video game.
This game is a prototype. The next big thing they're working on is the next Batman simulator. Simulator because every piece of equipment that Bruce Wayne requires will be blocked behind a paywall. Base Game - $70 Rubber Suit - $10 Armoured Suit - $100 Cape - $50 Batarang - $1 EACH Explosive Gel - $2 per in-game gram Batmobile - $1000 Only a real billionaire can get the full Batman experience. Tagline - "Be the Batman", will ring true this time.
Witcher 3 profit = 250 millions Gta 5 only microtransictions alone = 500 million. Activision microtransictions = 3,5 billion. There you have your answers, why make Witcher when you earn way more with Gta online, Overwatch, Cod, Battlefield, Destiny, Star wars battlefront, Fifa, Nba2k18 etc. And guess what those games are full of microtransictions and loot boxes.
Have you considered the long-term profits? Witcher 3 make 250 millions in profit and a ton of customer good-will, ensuring that they can keep making that profit every time they put out a new game because of repeat customers generated by said good-will. On the other hand, you tell me you feel like buying a new FIFA. Also, Overwatch loot boxes are not purchasable with real money. Overwatch is also a very good and fun competitive game, marred by the existence of Bastion.
Punishthefalse i wish it worked like good-will like you mentioned it. But usually companys go after money. In multiplayer games it's way easier too put microtransictions and lootboxes then a single player game like The last of us, Uncharted etc. I only play single player games and none of the games i mentioned expect Witcher 3, i have platina that game. I just pointed out games like those are where the most money are profitable and those games always sell. So microtransictions will never get away when we have games like those. Those games started microtransictions and it's slowly moving in too single player games like in Shadow of war and it will geting worse if people support those awful practises.
ivan deloo i feel like the new "gamers" are just shitty players that buy micro transactions. Players like me will always want to work for the content but most of the time its locked behind loot boxes
I will just clarify what you said - 250mln for witcher3? 1,140bln zł(~317mln usd) for 2015th(and game was released almost in 2nd part of the year) and continued with 250mln next year and ~100mln this year. I'm just curious about the numbers of activision you gave here, seriously let's not count all of the games they made okay? I've got nothing against micro-transactions as long as they don't influence the game in a bad way, but I will stick to CD PROJEKT when it comes to what they do, because trust me, the next game they release(Cyberpunk i guess) will be a huge success - customers trust them and I'm like 95% sure they will keep it that way
7:10 Gotta give that. The whole act 1 he kept going with his Palantya, Palantya, Palantya. Like dude I know you are missing a ball but I have to save lifes here
Nah man, you think the game is great. Big difference. I like Joe's reviews because he doesn't accept bullshit in his games. Exactly like me. He also bought the game for review purposes. Since I won't be reviewing it for my 2.8mil subscribers anytime soon, I see no need to support this microtransaction laden trash.
MCKhanstent look ok. You can have your own opinion, and while I agree that the micro transactions can go fuck themselves, I will still buy the game because I loved shadow of Mordor but I will just completely ignore the market, because fuck it
Copy Ninja. Its mostly the fucking community supporting this shit. They support games with microtransactions but they let games with free dlc and cheap prices die out. Honestly fucking sick community.
I too am losing interest in games. Have been for the past few years (even though I've been an avid gamer since the mid-80's). Seeing Bethesda kill two of my favourite RPG series was the final straw for me. Then there is the constant pure laziness of developers, releasing half-arsed games and "fixing" them later. DLC, most of which should already be in the fucking games in the first place. Greedy companies and idiotic fanboys who defend the outright dick moves of said companies. And still, they continue to take the piss while people throw money at any old pile of shite. It's become such a terrible industry.
Obviously they do. Otherwise it wouldn't affect them so much to feel this way. I'm in the same boat. Love games, I really do. it's probably the only thing I'm passionate about (with an almost fanatical mindset at times). For the past... well... nearly 30 years now. But the current direction, trends and practices of gaming companies (both developers AND publishers) has slowly but surely taken away most of the enjoyment and interest in the industry. Sure, there are still the odd game or two that I enjoy (for the most part anyhow). Overall, it's been increasingly-disappointing with each year that passes.
AttackPillow Tru. Tbh, I think creation club is more a terrible attempt to get a portion of money out of the modding community. What I mean more specifically is microtransactions that directly influence the core game
I torrent stuff if: 1. They have annoying stuff like this. 2. The game looks good at first but the reviews make it sound suspicious. (I really wish devs still provided us with demos like they used to) 3. They are terribly, horribly optimized.
You are kind of the reason there are microtransactions instead of suporting it you pirate and then thw company has to find other ways fo make up the losses
Not buying the microtransactions simply isn't enough. If the game sells a normal number of copies then you've already proven to them that it's worth keeping them in because even if *you* aren't buying them, *someone* is. Publishers simply don't care if everyone and their brother is complaining about microtransactions when their profits are clearly rising. You need to not buy the game at all if you want to stop these practices. Enough people need to not buy it such that they lose more money from sales than the amount they gain from the microtransactions.
You dont seem to get that WE dont care if it sells a normal amount of copies. WE WANT MORE MONEY! but if putting micros in games doesnt get us extra money because ppl wont buy them , then why would we waste our time putting them in future games?
Corporate Commander - Because adding microtransactions costs basically nothing. As long as the game sells a normal amount of copies, it's like free money from the people willing to buy them. Just throwing some normal game content, XP boosts, in-game currency, etc in a box doesn't cost development resources.
The SilentCaay Channel it sucks that money hungry companies created this trap. Buy the game and you say its ok, dont buy the game and you are missing out on a great game. I hate companies that do this shit. This needs to stop
The SilentCaay Channel if a quality game sells well that encourages the devs/publisher to keep making quality games. Maybe next game WB will try to pull some (bigger) shit on us, but until then I won't stop an optional feature keep me from buying a good game.
Peace in Mordor! I return to spread the word that the retched evil of Suron's microtransactions have been removed, which has returned the power back to the gaming public (although they shouldn't have had them in there in the first place)!
I don't care how good this game is, I cannot and will not abide microtransactions in a full price single-player game. I already don't buy a lot of full price triple A games because there's so much out there that simply doesn't appeal to me, especially when it's a narrative-intense experience whose main character you're forced to play as is an unlikable one-dimensional dozy twat.
^ its a tricky spot because by buying the game, although it is good, you are also indirectly supporting their use of microtransactions it'll enable other developers to implement if they find it profitable and will definitely be in future titles if they have poor sales, they'll know they fked up with adding microtransactions to a full price single player game
At least WB runs away when they see too many angry people complaining about the game's microtransactions. Would have been worse with EA. However, if WB does this shit again with the next lotr game. They will get bitten in the ass.
If you buy the game they are already getting your 60 bucks. You willingly bought a contaminated game. Anything you pay for microtransactions is gravy to them.
Because they won't see you in their statistics it's a good game and buying it would motivate them to continue making games like it and if everyone bought the game and nobody bought any crates they would see that in their stats that people like the game but not many people buying crates and that's how change is made
Icepick614 No, they will just change the game more to incentivize more purchases of microtransactions. I don't care if the vanilla game is good, I personally, flat out, will never give my money to a company with business practices like that.
Mibsam Malik I just paid 20 for it a few days ago, completed it offline. Idk what everyone's complaining about, micro transactions aren't a problem in it. Can go through it for free
Microtransactions and the ingame store are like the drug dealers that hang around my school, harassing me every day when going and coming back from school....... I just want to go to school.... I mean play the game without this hassles!
Or like gumball machines, arcade machines and any number of vending/fair machines that allow everybody, including children, to pay money to get random, addictive rewards. But it doesn't have the same ring as "drug dealers outside of school" though.
It's called 'grooming'. The entire damn industry is grooming gamers to see how much they can screw us over in the future. Of course, in the meantime, they've already started screwing us over on some levels as Shadow of War isn't the first to have microtransaction, only the first to put it into a single player game. Shameful.
The Killing Committee dude many single player games have micro transactios... The Batman games would let you buy “skins” to use in game.... that’s a micro transaction. Just because this game has a shortcut in it’s in-game menus doesn’t mean it’s the first to do it lol
The Killing Committee Yeah, I work at a high school and the kids now don’t even remember a time before loot boxes and micro transactions. They think it’s normal now, which is a sad thing to see. They all use mommy and daddy’s credit cards, so they don’t care. By the time they graduate and have to buy their own shit, they will already be used to it. Grooming indeed.
Kit Fisto9809 Demon Joe shows up to make a review of a shit game entertaining. Corporate commander is an entertaining satire of shady business practices of the gaming world. His use is a bit more educational and is more necesarry when you want to bring attention to questionable practices that may ruin gaming.
Be this game good or bad, I would encourage you not to buy it. Yes, this is yet another comment on microtransactions. And yes, I am also tired of them, but there's a reason why the gaming community is dealing with such an uproar against them; this game is the means by which publishers are "testing the waters". If they see their numbers in sales unaltered, next time they won't only dip their toes, but take the first step down the ladder and into the pool, to then take second, and then a third until they finally jump in and submerge. Should this happen they will be holding our hand. And once they descend, we will drown.
Civ5 Gandhi I won't give my opinion on a game I haven't played. But I can say I enjoyed the first one, despite the lackluster story and downright slaughter of Tolkien's Lore. Still, that's not what my statement is about. It addresses a much bigger problem that affects gaming as a whole.
I just feel that it will punish the devs. The publisher has enough money to survive, but if the game fails the studio will pay the price. Look at what just happened to Visceral courtesy of EA. I'm not saying buy the micro transactions, but if you want the game, and MT's aren't required to do well, I'd say go for it.
The DeltaAgent Developers are gamers too, I'm willing to bet many of them agree with the point I am making here. By buying games like these we are only hurting the gaming community and future games as a whole. This game might be only slightly influenced by the microtransactions, in the least possible way. But the next will go a bit further and now maybe it's pacing is broken and we'll never get a Souls-like game again. Meanwhile, another game was trying to tell a compelling story, but the artificial grind interrupts and guts it's chances of immersing us and making us care, now we'll never get a Last of Us again. Buying the game sends a message which spells that you are okay with these changes. Buying this game shows publishers that they can get away with it. We can't let them think that, because if they do then we lose. And if gamers lose Devs do too. After all, they were gamers before they became developers.
The number of publishers that don't take advantage of the consumer is getting less and less. You stupid publishers ever heard of building consumer loyalty buy showing some good will. Sony bandia namco and project cd red are some of the few that are left ea and activision are digging their own grave
This game is an experiment. How much more bullshit will gamers tolerate? There has already been an awful lot. Day 1 DLC, Pre-Order Bonuses, and Season Passes are the norm. Now is the next phase, locking game progression behind pay walls. This game pretty much requires it toward the end. What about the next game? Publishers will keep going till gamers draw the line. Gamers have done an absolutely miserable job at drawing any semblance of a line.
A friend of mine and me said the exact same thing a few years ago about Destiny :-) ! Those games gotta be experiments... there's no other explanation.
I started this game in 2018 and I'm still playing in 2019, 150+ hours on my playthrough not counting the DLC stories so far. I am 70% done the main story. This is probably the most impressive video game feat in the history of gaming, I just can't believe how awesome it is. Agree about the microtransactions, but at least they're gone now. My advice is to put the game on the highest difficulty possible and to turn off saviors... If you really want to milk the nemesis system (and this game) for all its full potential, you need to get your butt kicked and slowly climb the ranks. It takes a LONG time to "grind" through, but the grind is so damn fun that it's not truly a grind at all. After 150 hours I am STILL finding new orcs I've never seen before, and I even saw a couple in this review I never met in-game yet. The game is a 10/10 IMO, 7/10 is pretty insulting. I'd give it a 9 just because of the stupid market, other than that it's almost perfect.
I got quickly bored of the first one and sold it, because it turned into what I hate most; a super-hero game. I was just slaughtering everyone, except for the occasional tough orc. Is this a problem they've fixed? I'm considering buying this or AC Odyssey. I loathe AC games, for the casual combat; but apparently it's been improved...enough? Combat looks janky to my eye, but at least the leveling means you can go into areas you shouldn't be and can get your arse kicked. Combat looks a lot smoother in this...but I also remember how overpowered you quickly became.
@@rocketassistedgoat1079 In Shadow of War you can tightly tweak the difficulty to how you want. I put it on the hardest difficulty, disabled saviors and even disabled some of the HUD elements (if you want you can even disable all quick time indicators of which button to press so archers will always kill you). I also like challenging games, and in this game, with the settings I used, boy oh boy did I ever die a LOT. Furthermore, every time an orc kills you they level up like 12 levels or something, so some missions become literally unplayable... At one point I was something like level 16, but the orcs I had to kill in one of the main missions were level 60-80 because they kept killing me and leveling up... Which meant that I had to go out and grind to level and every upgrade counts (gear and skills). It took me something like 300 hours to plow through this game, but I enjoyed every excruciating moment of it. One of the most challenging games I've ever played... And I could have tweaked the interface stuff even further had I wanted to make it EVEN HARDER, but I found that without the QTE indicators and minimap it was hopeless, I just wasn't good enough.
@@rocketassistedgoat1079You won't regret it, especially if you get the season pass edition on sale, I think I paid 60 dollars (u.s.) for the base game and season pass combined, money well spent. I will definitely come back to this game one day and relive the pain :)
@@Deehvad You forgot to tell the people that readed the books, that this game just pisses in the established Lore of the Lord of the rings. I mean: I readed all Tolkien Books ( Sillmarillion, Lord of the Rings, Beren and Luthien, Fall of Gondolin, etc... ) and this game its a slap in Tolkien's face ( Possessed Talion with Celebrimbor, MILF Shelob, The fight between Celebrimbor and Sauron on top of Bard Dur, and other weird stuff ). When you judge a game and say that its fun, please dont forget that book readers have a keen eye for inconcistencies and silly plot holes, and if you readed the books, you will be pissed by the huge disrespect to the Lore. I agree it is fun, but silly.
Seriously this trend of MT's in big budget games is getting ludicrous. Already 60 dollars for a game, plus monthly online subscription, plus other accessories, a way to expand HDD space when that shit eventually runs out. Yeah fuck gaming. There I said it. Greed has always lingered behind certain business practices to make a profit, but now it's just disgusting. Fuck gaming. Its just a premium ass distraction
Yeah, I agree with Humam242, no reason to write off Gaming itself. There are more than enough smaller devs that don't push these stupid things. Even some bigger devs don't, like the devs of The Witcher.
I got this game last month and had a blast. Finished all the quests and collectibles, and still refining my army every now and then. I never experienced microtransactions because they were removed. Great game and the nemesis system is awesome!
I forgive the delay, Angry Joe. What I can't forgive, however, is your not having had Other Joe look to a second camera while Corporate Commander was hounding him and shouting "YOU DONE FUCKED IT UP!". The golden opportunity was there, and you didn't seize it. **sigh**.
@@grimfandango7135 ...77? I assume you uh...took your time taking in the landscape? Run around smackin some uruks maybe? I 100% the main game in about 26 hours.
Let's be honest, they would've earned more money if they didn't add microtransactions... they basically lose half of the players who were hype with announcing it.
Not necessarily. They still made a major profit regardless. The bigger issue is that they lost a lot of their credibility because of this MT situation. Honestly I think that the developers did the fans a favor with the way they made the MT work. Basically WB forced Monolith to put in a MT system. So to counter WB, they made the MT completely useless in order to prevent player from buying the crates. idk if you've played the game but the loot boxes are completely useless and don't benefit you at all. You will progress at the exact same rate whether you use them or not.
You do understand on release day it was the number 1 AAA played on steam. Thats normal numbers despite everyone saying they going to not buy it. The people that are targeted by the microtransactions are whales, must of the time children or adults with gambling tendencies. They are preying on them and make shit tons of money normally
I bet they lost almost none and gained the handful of whales they needed to make this game a bigger success than the last. It's a great game and the micro transaction are not an issue as they aren't pervasive and never feel needed.

What kind of idiot spends money on micro transactions on a single player game??
JJ C Okay not gonna lie if the protagonist was a female and the micro transactions made her more sexy I would be that idiot... just saying
Zovioh_FGC
What kind of stupid logic is that?
Assuming you can afford it, buying dlc doesn't damage your health or break the law, like your examples.
can you imagine ,if they make it so that everytime you die... Shelob face appear and whisper... "buy the crate...."

*because WB got all the money they could get from it.
FTFY
The developers deliberately set up the system to be as unappealing as possible and as a result the loot boxes sold incredibly poorly
If the loot boxes broke game progression then their removal would have coincided with the July patch, but the July patch came two months after the paid loot boxes were removed.

Micro transactions in games are like buying a car only to find out you need to pay extra for the steering wheel and pedals. No thanks.
Micro transactions in games is like... buying cosmetic items for your car to make it look prettier.

Dallasmed65 Agreed.
How can your armour not change in the cutscenes. Halo fucking reach managed it.
And Halo 2 showed you in cutscenes with the weapon you were previously holding unless it is the start of a mission. I wish more games did both.
I think it has to do with the cutscenes being made BEFORE the items sets were all made. That's just my guess.
SuperKnalxz Grey the cutscenes aren’t real time
This is most likely it.

Just got the game with all the expansions for 23 bucks on Steam.
Me too! No store anymore.
Central Scrutinizer I just bought the Gold edition yesterday lol
Central Scrutinizer got it on Xbox for 14
Just got it for 12 lol
ok
Corporate Commander is pure comedy gold 😂😂😂
Fuck micro transactions. This shit just makes me appreciate stuff like Witcher 3 and Doom more and more❤️
Coming 2017: EA's Doom Platinum Plus Edition, with day one BFG DLC and Argent D'Nur being blocked until you have enough Upgrade points, which can also be bought alongside randomly selected weapon and Praetor upgrades found in UAC "Weapon Container" loot boxes.
By the way it took less than 24 hours to crack the game and within 2 days someone figured out that you can edit the basic files to give yourself infinite of the micro-transaction currency.
Doom was amazing. So was the multiplayer suprisingly
Just bought the witcher 3 to see what I missed out on...Looks like I missed nothing.
9/10 for me.
can't get any better yet only a 9/10? geez talk about impossible standards lol :P
I think the missing 1 is because of the story’s problems 😂
Celembribor
Can I still chain wraith kills?
Shank Uruks?
Perform instant kills?
@@blazeswithwolvez7221 yes, you can even do more
The personality of the orcs you recruit is by far the best part of the game. It helps it feel alive even when the game has pretty much ended during the fourth act.
Why is it so hard for english speaking channels to pronounce "Celebrimbor" ???
Is it like a tongue twister in their native language..?
NinjaCakeAssassin I can say it just fine. But I am tri-lingual so that might be why I can say Celebrimbor like a true nerd
American speaking people*
Praetor Since we are correcting people "American" is not a language
why can't Brits pronounce aluminum?? okay then
at this point i think the reviewers/lets players think it's a funny joke. i'm american and i have no issue pronouncing it. granted i'm a fantasy nerd but still
I'll wait for a sale. All the microtransaction and lootbox bs doesn't make me want to pay full price for this game.
abeabeification Exactly I'm doing that with all games now. I'll wait a few months over full price.
abeabeification I agree but I got it and you can play the game with out buying them I havent gotten to the shadow wars part so that might change but 32 hours in I'm having fun and haven't paid more than the 60 for the game but then again you never need a reason to save money right
its not bad, i never visited the market and im 40 hours in
abeabeification Ya 100 hour great game but optional shit makes you not want it? The game is so dame good
Naw, wait for the game of the year adition.
You can be a pirate aaarghh.
Yeah just pirate it dude
Juan Soriano Most of the games I play do not have microtransactions so you're full of shit. You work for WB?
If you're not gonna buy it either way, just pirate it. The online and store features are inaccessible that way, which makes the game way more fun.
Ray Hemminger youre missing out
This game is 10/10 for me. The fighting is absolute savage , i have been a gamer for over 30 years and this is by far the best swordplay ever in a video game.
Both of you are... Wrong...
@@HollowBagel Thats their oppinions.
@ very true
How do you call pressing one button and doing the same 4 animations the best sword play
This game is a prototype.
The next big thing they're working on is the next Batman simulator.
Simulator because every piece of equipment that Bruce Wayne requires will be blocked behind a paywall.
Base Game - $70
Rubber Suit - $10
Armoured Suit - $100
Cape - $50
Batarang - $1 EACH
Explosive Gel - $2 per in-game gram
Batmobile - $1000
Only a real billionaire can get the full Batman experience.
Tagline - "Be the Batman", will ring true this time.
I hope that WB isn't reading this shit and I just gave them an idea.
That game already exists. It is called Arkham VR. You have to have Bruce Wayne's cash to be the Batman in that one.

Witcher 3 profit = 250 millions
Gta 5 only microtransictions alone = 500 million.
I've got nothing against micro-transactions as long as they don't influence the game in a bad way, but I will stick to CD PROJEKT when it comes to what they do, because trust me, the next game they release(Cyberpunk i guess) will be a huge success - customers trust them and I'm like 95% sure they will keep it that way
ivan deloo it's called businesses. And idiots who complain annoy the shit out of everyone else. Can't afford it don't buy it.

I swear to god Corporate Commander is the best original character ever. Fucking love him. Thank you man. P.s., fuck this game.
MCKhanstent games great lol
Nah man, you think the game is great. Big difference. I like Joe's reviews because he doesn't accept bullshit in his games. Exactly like me. He also bought the game for review purposes. Since I won't be reviewing it for my 2.8mil subscribers anytime soon, I see no need to support this microtransaction laden trash.
MCKhanstent look ok. You can have your own opinion, and while I agree that the micro transactions can go fuck themselves, I will still buy the game because I loved shadow of Mordor but I will just completely ignore the market, because fuck it
Corporate CONmander would be better
The funniest/saddest thing is that he's barely satire anymore >_>
The modern era of gaming is so toxic and cancerous. It literally, is killing my passion for gaming as a whole.
just play old games , i still have so much unplayed steam games
Then you don't have that much passion for it.
3:48 my favorite “FUUUUUUUUU-“ moment 😆🤣
Corporate Commander's time is coming.... Be afraid.
I swear if this micro transaction bullshit shows up in the next elder scrolls, I'm calling it quits for my gaming hobby.
Or at least just switching to indie/honest publishers.
They did, its called the creation club.
CFergio no one cares.
AttackPillow Tru. Tbh, I think creation club is more a terrible attempt to get a portion of money out of the modding community. What I mean more specifically is microtransactions that directly influence the core game
Matthew Scully lol you're
completely entitled to your obsolete imbecilic opinion.
If a single player RPG has micro-transactions, the best response you can give them is piratebay.
Definitely Nobody 100% I never torrent anything but may just have to torrent this game. I'll torrent it at work so they get in trouble also.
I torrent stuff if:
1. They have annoying stuff like this.
2. The game looks good at first but the reviews make it sound suspicious. (I really wish devs still provided us with demos like they used to)
3. They are terribly, horribly optimized.
ayay captain
Definitely Nobody Rather just buy it and not ruin game industries thanks.........
You are kind of the reason there are microtransactions instead of suporting it you pirate and then thw company has to find other ways fo make up the losses
I almost fainted when he said Selembrimdor instead of Celebrimbor

Joe is generally not good on names. Consider it the cringy part of the AJS experience.
The SilentCaay Channel you expect kids to understand text this long?
Holy crap Joe, this year officially has the most Angry Game Review yet?
Keep up the good work but just don't force yourself 👍
I will stand with you, Joe...if not to defend this culture...for Mordin.
WE WILL HOLD THE LINE.
It's a good game tho
^ its a tricky spot because by buying the game, although it is good, you are also indirectly supporting their use of microtransactions
it'll enable other developers to implement if they find it profitable and will definitely be in future titles
if they have poor sales, they'll know they fked up with adding microtransactions to a full price single player game
I’m I the only one that when joe said let’s talk about the micro transactions herd in the background “there shit!”
I can build a dream team of legendary orcs without loot boxes, lolz.
But then you'll end up losing them because some orcs lock you into the knockback animation while the friendlies bleed out. That's what happened to me
At least WB runs away when they see too many angry people complaining about the game's microtransactions. Would have been worse with EA. However, if WB does this shit again with the next lotr game. They will get bitten in the ass.
That was your conscience...
luckily, one of upcoming update will close the market and thus eliminate the micros, been mentioned on fb.

SPQRapid Dishonored is pretty good
Lasus Naturae Dishonored is excellent, especially a ghost/ no kill playthrough

Why just boycot the microtransactions? To me, microtransactions = immediate BOYCOT of the WHOLE game entirely.
Jokes on you because this game is still amazing
Yeah, I'm loosing sleep over it :/
If you buy the game they are already getting your 60 bucks.
This game needs another chance as it is in a very good place now.
Dalton Craig is this game good i found it on sale for £5?
Mibsam Malik I just paid 20 for it a few days ago, completed it offline. Idk what everyone's complaining about, micro transactions aren't a problem in it. Can go through it for free
@@iRival20 Well they removed the microtransactions like 6 months after realease i believe. so its not a problem at all anymore

VeraxonHD I purchase microtransactions routinely. I work A LOT and have more money than I do time. Good luck!

VeraxonHD Don't buu the gamws then?

Microtransactions and the ingame store are like the drug dealers that hang around my school, harassing me every day when going and coming back from school....... I just want to go to school.... I mean play the game without this hassles!
Where the fuck do you live?
Worst, LOS ANGELES.............
Or like gumball machines, arcade machines and any number of vending/fair machines that allow everybody, including children, to pay money to get random, addictive rewards. But it doesn't have the same ring as "drug dealers outside of school" though.
To see microtransactions was removed is dope! The players won a battle for once 😂
Shadow of Microtransactions
Callum Friel clever
Callum Friel I still prefer Sterling's "Shadow of Morbucks"
I like the phrase Shadow of Mordough, myself, but it all boils down to the same conclusion. Most of these microtransactions are garbage.

It's called 'grooming'. The entire damn industry is grooming gamers to see how much they can screw us over in the future. Of course, in the meantime, they've already started screwing us over on some levels as Shadow of War isn't the first to have microtransaction, only the first to put it into a single player game. Shameful.
what about the most recent Deus Ex?
The Killing Committee dude many single player games have micro transactios... The Batman games would let you buy “skins” to use in game.... that’s a micro transaction. Just because this game has a shortcut in it’s in-game menus doesn’t mean it’s the first to do it lol
The Killing Committee
Yeah, I work at a high school and the kids now don’t even remember a time before loot boxes and micro transactions. They think it’s normal now, which is a sad thing to see. They all use mommy and daddy’s credit cards, so they don’t care. By the time they graduate and have to buy their own shit, they will already be used to it. Grooming indeed.
The Killing Committee calm down ya nerd just dont buy it
Maybe other games but not this one. The implemented them perfectly. You can completely ignore them and never need them.
I miss Demon Joe.
Lol XD
He'll be back when a properly epic RPG comes out.
Already came out and its called Elex
Its gotta be a real shit game for Demon Joe to return................
Kit Fisto9809
Demon Joe shows up to make a review of a shit game entertaining.
Corporate commander is an entertaining satire of shady business practices of the gaming world.
His use is a bit more educational and is more necesarry when you want to bring attention to questionable practices that may ruin gaming.
I love how other joe left the room as soon as he heard loot boxes, right before Angry Joe started screaming. He's learning
The DeltaAgent Besides, I think we are making the message clear that it's not the game itself that bothers us, but what it's trying to accomplish.
Doktor Arkham don't forget the alphas and betas.
never forget..
Battlefront 2 looks like the REAL experiment
I hope the they reject Battlefront 2 hard but my gut feeling is that the fanboys will eat that shit up and deliver them a fortune on the micro's. :(
Nothing owned by disney fails to make money, they could sell wood to a forest.
A friend of mine and me said the exact same thing a few years ago about Destiny :-) ! Those games gotta be experiments... there's no other explanation.
*PLEASE REVIEW DIVINITY ORIGINAL SIN 2 I DON'T CARE HOW LONG IT TAKES*
InMaTeofDeath I second this
InMaTeofDeath right!!!
Turn-based combat.
Boring AF
XOLiD its strategic, sorry your little brain cant handle it
I'll take some real-time strategy over boring & easy turn-based any day.
@@Deehvad Thanks for writing that dude, I appreciate it. I might just pick it up, if only so I can pretend I'm playing Game of Thrones, lol.
I want an entire legion of singing orcs.
So you want other accessories and HDD space for free or what?
rp just game on pc, you don't have to play online and you are in control of your pc, plus you can just get good indie games.
Raidoton Youre dumb
Greed? You don't know indie
some new ps 4 games (the last guardian for example) cost 79,99 € in austria. its too expensive for this short game
This game would be so good
If they didn’t shove dlc and micro transactions in
If this is where single player games are going I’m going to stop gaming
ely yanucka yes I agree
Yep
OR you could just support the small and middle developer who is justifying gaming ?
You still have reputable Game designers Like the folks at atlus
And Squre Enix sometimes
Plus there's always the indie scene
**sigh**.

Let's be honest, they would've earned more money if they didn't add microtransactions... they basically lose half of the players who were hype with announcing it.
no they didn't. they are in the top 5 for most sold games. All these bandwagon kids still bought the game.
they still lost dozens of players, it doesn't matter how high up they are, they still could've earned more money.
Fun fact:
They removed the micro transactions!!!
Yah they did there last major update so now its just gonna be bug fixes so this game is now pretty good
Are the microtransactions really gone?
Yes go look up uruk's hollow a youtuber he talks about the last major update for shadow of war

Hang on. So if I buy a physical copy of the game it won't have the microtransactions in there too? Or do I have to update it?

Oooh Ok. Sorry not really a tech savvy kinda guy and I'm old school, I prefer disks that I can look at and even marvel at it.
But that's a weight off my chest. Thanks again.
