Luckily Hyundai's user interface is pretty strait forward once you figure out how to navigate it. I plan to record a full walk-through when I get time!
After trying and failing, I realized the car has to be running. After starting the car and going through the steps, it’s responding with the flashes as mentioned then just doesn’t work. My parents have an older garage door system and it worked perfectly on theirs. I can’t get it to take mine.
This does happen sometimes, there are a few newer systems that have their own protocol for setting the code. If you lookup your garage door system online you should be able to find the original manual that will explain the process. Sorry this process didn't work for you. Let me know if I can be of help in any other way!
I had this issue as well but solved it. First, do all the steps he outlines in the video. Then you have to get to the power unit of the opener. There should be a programming button. On mine you press that until the blue light changes to purple. Then return to the rear view mirror and press the opener button you just programmed. You may need to press it a couple times then the power unit will "learn" the code and start working. Hope this helps.
Didn’t work for my 2020 Santa Fe with a Chamberlain B2405 garage door opener. I’m wondering if these instructions are for fixed code openers not rolling code.
My mom just got a 2020 Santa Fe and I’m setting it up for her and I get how to do everything now but do u have to have the remote in your car at all times for it still to work?
Nice thanks. One question though. After the home link button is set up, do I have to keep the actual remote stashed in the car somewhere still for the homelink button to open the door?
I have two garage doors. It appears when I press the 1 and 3 button together , I erase any and all Programs on my mirror. So I lose my first door but gain the second door. I have not tried it yet but someone told me NOT TO HAVE THE CAR RUNNING just Have the ignition key in Accessory position.
When programming multiple doors you can proceed to the second door programming without holding the 1 and 3 buttons. I will be making a new video including this information along with some information about rolling code garage doors.
Excellent! I'm glad to hear it worked for you! If you could take a minute to like and subscribe it really helps me to get my videos in front of more people. Thanks and have a great day!
Hey, I have done what was in the video but it still isn't paired. Is it because I have a older garage opener? Does it not pair with certain models? I have a genie garage door opener.
I never had a garage door opener remote, so I had my alarm company program it with my phone. So when I come home everyday I have to pull out my phone, go to the app, and open my garage door. So is it possible for me to still use this feature?
Do you know what model of garage door opener you have? Unless it is really, really old I would assume you could get a $20 universal garage door opener and program your opener unit to that. From there you could follow the procedure outlined in the video to program the vehicle. If you get the model number off of the opener unit I can try to help guide you further.
I have occasionally heard of others having this issue. Apparently some garage door openers include an additional step where you have to press a button on the garage door opener housing. I am working on finding an opener like this so I can make another video. In the meantime see if this helps at all: homelink.com/hyundai
I have a customer that has 2 garage doors , with 2 different remotes. When he tries to pair the second one it wipes out the code for the first one. How do you pair both? He had a 2012 Santa Fe that both were paired. The one he is having trouble with is a 2020 Santa Fe Limited
Only press and hold the outer keys at the very beginning. Program the first remote and then the second remote right after. Pressing and holding the outer keys in between will erase the first code. I should have mentioned this in the video. Thank you very much for the comment and let me know how it works out!
I'm sorry, if I had to guess I would say you have a rolling code style opener. These have a few different possible procedures, if you get the model number off of your opener you should be able to find a PDF of the original instruction manual online that should show the procedure on the opener side. Sorry I wasn't able to help more.
That's strange I was just able to program one with a production date of 9/2020. Is it perhaps that you have a "rolling code" or "code dodging" door opener? If so there is another step to the procedure where you have to press the learn button on your door opening mechanism itself. When I made this video I was unaware of this different procedure or I would have added it. I will be making another video on that at some point. Please report back with your findings so that is something is changing I can watch for it. Thank you!
Worked like a charm for my 2019 Santa Fe. A lot less complicated than I thought it would be.
Luckily Hyundai's user interface is pretty strait forward once you figure out how to navigate it. I plan to record a full walk-through when I get time!
Just programmed my 2020 Santa Fe and your instructions worked perfectly. Thank you!
Worked for my 2022 Santa Fe. Thanks for the help!
Glad it helped!
Just used it for my 2022 Santa Fe!! Thanks 🙏🏻
Fantastic!
Super easy explanation, Thanks
Worked on my 2020 Santa Fe. Thanks.

No. Your rearview mirror remote learns the code so it can function on it's own.
Scott Cooper thanks. I figured it out. It’s awesome how quick and easy the setup is!
Awesome! Thanks so much!!
You are very welcome! Thanks for the comment!
Thank you
The pairing worked on our 2022 Santa Fe. Does the car have to be running to open or close the garage door? It seems so after we paired the remote.
Thanks
Nice thanks. One question though. After the home link button is set up, do I have to keep the actual remote stashed in the car somewhere still for the homelink button to open the door?
Nope, after the learning procedure you can remove the remote from the vehicle entirely!
@@automotiveserviceresetproc4431 yes thanks. This worked awesome buddy!
Is this in the manual? If so I couldn't find it.
It is a bit hard to find, it starts on page 3-35.
Thanks!

I followed the directions and it flashed green but garage door did not open
How do you unprogram it?
How many hands do you have? LOL. All of a sudden this extra finger popped out!
Haha! It can be tricky making these videos and holding the camera but I always find a way!

I have an older Genie also and it did not link.
I can’t get mine to work for anything!

Does not work
It's your garage door opener. You need to find you manual for your opener and repeat these steps for (your) opener.
Does not work on 2020 models made after 8/2020
