I love how the communities are all so different from location to location! Your community seems small but our community tends to be really big! I am a Challenge 1 student and have been in CC for ten years, and I still remember starting CC in a living room with three other families and I have watched the community grow and move into the one I am in now! I hope you all enjoy the communities your in, and if you’re considering joining the CC family I strongly encourage you to do so!!

Often communities have a day care program... used to do the daycare for our community when my child was foundations age, and it helped those moms with older elementary kids who had to be in essentials with their children. Any community can start a day care if the family want, so you can have that freedom to be with your EEL kid(s) and know your babies are in a safe place away from you in the same building!

CC is a great program. I have been in a CC community for the last four years and I have tutored for those years too. I love it, and am so grateful I can afford it...of course, tutoring helps a lot! My child loves her friends at our community I love the God Centered schooling and family I have found at our community. CC is a God idea for my family.

Nili I do classical conversations and I love it!! The tutors ARE the moms and they get paid. I'm a tutor this year and the pay really helps to go toward my kids tuition. I have 4 kids. Two of those are in essentials and my oldest is in challenge so I definitely hear you on the cost. But I gotta tell you it's SO worth every penny. CC makes homeschooling so easy for the parent. It's been the biggest blessing for me. And the support system and friendships you make are priceless. Pray about it and go to practicum this summer and as many info meetings as you can. It takes a little while to completely wrap your brain around how it all works but the more you hear and see the faster you'll understand it. 😉

+Hannah Wiggins That's so great! I really loved the approach and the more I'm thinking about it the more I just want to find a way to make it work. I think we'll probably just start out with just the foundations program and go from there. Thanks Hannah! I know where to come if I have questions!

I tried so hard over the years to commit to a co-op but just couldn't relinquish the flexibility in our schedule. That did look really cool! I'm going to look up the curriculum. We've really enjoyed the mystery of history curriculum. It's a four year set with cds and books. Its all chronological. Very neat. I'm a history buff and I really liked it. I got mine off Amazon I think. Have Haves great day! Stacey

This is our first year in CC. I looked into it a few years ago and really liked it, but it made no sense to do it for the sake of one child at the expense of the others and of mama's sanity. It's been a bit of a learning curve since my olders are older than the average start age for Foundations, but it's been manageable. I now think my youngers are still a bit young, but they are out of nursery and getting something out of it which is good. It's a very good fit for our family at this point, filling a lot of needs across the spectrum for all of our children and for the family as a whole.
CC needs to be viewed the same way you view any other curriculum. It can be the most amazing thing ever, but if it's not the right fit for your family it's not the right thing for your family.

I looked into CC last year. It seems like a nice concept but not sure all of it would be my cup of tea but I did like a lot of the books they offered.

I'm glad other people agree that it is expensive. I am going to try it this year with 3 kids. I am making payments. the kids really want to do it this year so I am going to try and make it work. the good thing about the one I am going to is it has childcare for the little ones.

Many CC communities have childcare provided by either a single person and everyone chips in on cost or they rotate moms through watching the 3 and unders in the morning and again with the 3rd graders down in the afternoon during Essentials. It makes it much easier for moms to be in classes with their students! I can highly recommend this approach to communities that can do it! Also, we've been in community 6 years now, 5 years I tutored Foundations, and this coming year I'll tutor Challenge A. It can really help to offset the tuition costs!

Yes! Our community did that this year and it worked out great. We did end up joining CC and have just finished our first year. So glad we did!

we are doing cc at home for the same reasons you just stated... logistics with a 17 month old and the cost, but i am definitely keeping it in mind for when they are older. i do love the memory work and accountablity!! tough decisions, i know! this is our fourth year homeschooling, we have a 11,9,6,4, and 17 month old! By the way i made Your pretzel dog recipe last night, everyone loved them, thanks!!

Wow! You've got the same age kids as me except you added in a 9 year old! Lol! We took a 5 year break between babies 1 and 2. :) We're still considering all the options with CC. I would really like to get them into the curriculum somehow. I don't think I can swing the Essentials program at this point but I might be able to do the Fundamentals program with the three older girls. Grandma might be able to help with little Renae which would make it much easier. I REALLY liked the approach and would love to make it work if I can!

Hi Nili! We do Classical Conversations (this is our 5th year). We love it! If you haven't already, check out the book, Classical Christian Education Made Approachable. It's $10 from the CC bookstore. It's a great, short, intro to the whole world of classical Christian ed. I've tutored Foundations, Essentials, and Challenge A (7th ish grade). I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. Tutoring definitely helps offset the cost (I'll have 5 in the program next year!), and if you make CC your spine (which, if you're doing it you should- it's too much too add on to another curriculum), it's actually fairly affordable. Feel free to message me on Facebook, Ashley Clark Chin. Best wishes on whatever you decide! :)
Oh, and thank you SO much for all the videos!!!!!

We checked out a CC open house 3 years ago, but the price was too much for me. I like the memory by song concept though. :)

I'm consider CC for my daughter but it looks like it's a lot of memory. What about critical thinking, and other higher thinking levels skills? Who can help me?
