Criminally underappreciated video. I like when a review of a classic game tells us not just about the game but also the cultural surroundings at the time and going forward towards today.
This was a really great video! If I had one piece of constructive criticism since this appears to be your first video, it’d be to maybe not include a score at the end because it may cause people to ignore the rest of the analysis. Ofc do whatever you want, and I look forward to checking more of your content out!
That's something to consider. The only real reason for the score is that I like to score things. If I hear that other people feel it takes away from the rest of the video, I'll probably ditch them. Thanks.
I watched dozens of Super Metroid videos over the years and I didn't think this would bring anything new but I really enjoyed this, especially the bit at 2:10 where you go through the original feelings of going through the game for the first time. Tiny nitpick, the noise you use to censor "shit" startled me several times thinking my computer was glitching.
Great video. Funny but also a good analysis. I especially liked your point about how the power bomb enhanced versions of each beam support the exploratory philosophy behind the game.
As a person who would describe himself as a giant Metroid fan, it pains me to say that I haven't played it. I don't really do console games these days, but I'll get to it soon.
Oh, tons of them, yeah. I had posted some game reviews here 10+ years ago, and thought I should start fresh if I'm coming back to the channel. Which means I couldn't stand watching any of them.
@@fancydink Ok yeah, was wondering if I had been auto-subscribed or something. This was good though SM is definitely a platformer as are like 98% of MVs.
I never played Super Metroid, but I think I'll try it out.
Orson Welles talks Metroid. I like it!

Wow this is a great video. Excellent writing and editing. I expected to see 100k+ subs. Can’t wait to see what you do next.
Oh, heck. No pressure or anything.
Thanks!

Im glad to watch this video rn. This was a pretty good video man, salutes from México, big hug!
That was a great way to describe the plot of the game.
This is amazing, love this content!
That means a lot, coming from a commenter I currently agree with 100% of the time.
Awesome video. Looking forward to more.
I'll try not to let you down too terribly.

God, I remember Zellers, Zayres and Ames.......
Let's just hope they don't remember you. I think my picture's still up in a few staff rooms.

Did you remove some previous videos?
Oh, tons of them, yeah.

Great job on your first new vid. Reminds me a lot of kaptankristan and I really miss him.
