I had a white miniature Schnauzer for thirteen years . His name was Cody, and sadly he passed away at age 14 last year. He was a rescue , literally as his owner left him in the back yard after moving away to another town. Her neighbor called us to see if we could find a home . We said yes, as we have seven schnauzers in our family owned by two other daughters of mine. Unfortunately Cody was lost for four months and we just were so upset. Finally , he ended back on the back steps of where he used to live. The neighbor called us and my daughter went to get him. He was so thin, and very sick. My daughter immediately took him to her Vet and I called to see when we could see him. He made it through the first night.... At that time he just turned one. Never been groomed, he was a handful to bathe, and he had to be bathed in thirds, because of all the hair. We were able to take him to my home the first night I put him on a big warm pallet near the fireplace which I kept lit . He had never been to the back of my house but he found me at 3am and I found him then by my bedside. Immediately I put him by my side on the bed and he slept there every night for about twelve years. He was the smartest dog I ever had and the most loving. My first language was sign language since I had Deaf parents. Cody learned many signs which I showed him without voice. If I signed "sing" he would sit and just howl to me. At Christmas time, his favorite song was Deck the Halls" and he would sing whenever he heard it on tv , no matter which rendition was on. So, teaching him signs like " please, shake, lie down, sit, sing, turn, dance, stay, and others were commands he loved to do. Teaching them with voice and sign at the same time and then later dropping the vocal and then signing only was easy for him. Schnauzers are so visually oriented they catch on very quickly. I miss him so much but I am 85 now and not able to walk another dog like I used to. My daughters bring over their dogs so I get my share of kisses from them. Lucy is so darn cute!
Ruth Strozdas this is amazing! Thank you for sharing your story. I am getting a white mini schnauzer puppy in a couple weeks- I have grand plans for him, we are going to travel all over together and be the best of buds, and do obedience and agility trials, scent training, and I’d love to have him become a therapy dog. Now that you’ve told me you’ve taught your dog Sign Language I would love to teach mine as well so that deaf and nonverbal folk can talk to my doggy as well in whatever way they like and he will be able to respond 😃 your story was so sweeet and I’m so glad you had such lovely memories
Ruth Strozdas - I am crying reading your text .. You are a very special person for taking him in and loving him. I just lost my little schnauzer, Schatzi, it is killing us. Thank you for telling your story.. God Bless you.
one time my schnauzer, Teddy, was in the living room crying while everyone else was in the kitchen. we looked in on him and he was laying in his bed. we thought that he wanted to be with us in the kitchen so we moved his bed in the kitchen. then he took his bed and ran back to lay down in the living room. he is a HUGE drama king.
My schnauzer has done just about nearly everything featured here! I thought only my dog was a crazy, energetic furball! Guess not. Looks like it runs in the breed. Awesome!
Schnauzers are the best breed. I have epilepsy and my previous Schnauzer knew to alert my family if I had a fit and bring them to me. He then sat next to me while I recovered, sometimes with his paw on me. He wasn’t trained he knew to do this. He hated me being on the laptop whilst on the sofa with me as the attention wasn’t on him and learnt to switch the laptop off 🤣. My Schnauzer now is lovely and they are very good with kids. They are companion dogs for people with disabilities such as epilepsy. I think about my previous Schnauzer a lot.
The schnauzer with the bucket vs. the door is my sweet Fender! Not sure how this got on here or how you go it but tickled to see it. Hope it makes someone laugh as much as it did us.
That jumping up at the TV was priceless, my fella goes nuts when he hears dogs on the TV barking. You just can't help but love our little bearded friends 😎👍
Damn, that little fellow at the beginning could jump. What a beauty. My all white mini schnauzer Nilly could balance herself like a cat on top of my couch and walk around and she could open door with her paws and legs. They are so sweet, smart and beautiful. One of the best breeds.
I have a miniature schnauzer he is so funny and innocent and ofc he is a puppy but i love him so much and he is is so energetic after all he loves playing with me
We lost our mini Tucker on September 29th last year. He was sixteen. He was the smartest dog I've ever seen, capable of solving puzzles of toys inside of nested containers. My eyes are wet as I type this.
We used to have a miniature schnauzer, who absolutely hated getting a bath. He "disappeared" , into the closet, to avoid the bath. At one point, we had 7 of them, at once, at the same time, in the same house.
To Mary Fayard-Newman ....thank you for your sweet comments. It is so very hard losing a beloved pet. I know how you feel about losing your Schatzi, and I think of Cody every day. He was neglected with his first family , but after he came to live with me he was the sweetest and most loyal dog, we were both so lucky to have found each other. I wish I could tell you all the stories about him in the 13 years I had him. He was the best! Schnauzers are such good company and so much fun. I hope you can get another dog. They just give so much love!
Now, come on guys, you should know most Minis don't like water....they like to 'talk', though! A lady on our dog-field tonight said our boy sounded like a squeeky-toy! Yip,yip,yip...! 😂 He's only 6 months!
Omg that wagging tail under the bed is just like my boy hahahaha he does it when he wants something and stares at me with his soulful eyes and I ask him what does he want x) schnauzers are the best dogs FR ^_^
My little man was black & silver. His name was Sirius, & Jesus took him on July 18th last year, after blessing me with him for 13 years. He was my best friend & companion, & the smartest dog I’ve ever had. I’ve had lots of dogs in my life, bulldogs & boxers, & they were all very good dogs, but….my Sirius was the #1 best. I miss him every day, & feel his presence next to my feet sometimes, laying on the rug next to where I sit. I’ll see him again 1 day. Jesus is taking good care of him! 😥🙏🏼
I have had many dogs in my life but a Schnauzer is so special. I lost my Charlie to cancer 2/27/24. I feel his presence. He made such a fun positive impact in my life. He was 12 years 7 months old. I will feel hurt for a long time. You are not alone. God bless you.
@@bzb500 you can’t get a “better” companion than a Schnauzer. Only the people that have been blessed to have one(or more) can understand how incredibly wonderful & smart they are. I know I’ll be with my boy again, & it’ll probably be soon……😢😊🙏🏼
2:40 this is me and my schnauzer’s (Scooter) favorite game after bath time, “invisible intruder” we like it eve;more than, “smothering blanket” where he attacks the towel when I try to dry him…. Heh… he’s crazy 🥰
Please be careful with dogs and corn cobs...My Springer Spaniel ate a 6" corn cob off the ground from a neighbor's squirrel feeder. Three weeks of dry heaves before blood finally showed-up. Surgery to remove cob was $2,057. Apparently, dog digestive systems don't breakdown corn cobs well, even though a cob seems mostly plant-based. Regards.
How are raising Schnauzers compared to Scotties? Temperament and personality seem similar? Raised 4 head strong Scotties over the years but want a standard or giant Schnauzer

My Charlie does everything in this video. Schnauzers are one of the best breeds and so full of love, life and loads of fun.♥️🐾💞💋
Noises scaring them, barking at the tv, eating corn or apples, loving the blow dryer, all true stories.
That jumping up at the TV was priceless, my fella goes nuts when he hears dogs on the TV barking. You just can't help but love our little bearded friends 😎👍
My dog's sister watches TV and can recognize animals even on mute
I love how Mini Schnauzers are so playful. I LOVE my Ollie to bits!
I’m proud to say, my miniature schnauzer still has and will keep his full tail.
so does mine
My schnauzer does not have her full tail sadly
Mine too although I trim the fur to cool him.

I love the mini schnauzer breed. 🐕 ❤️ Too cute 😍

My schnauzer would attack the vacuum cleaner - even when it was off! He also hated toilet paper rolls. All the rolls in our house had bite marks.
