Hi Rebbie...but I still say Maureen. Regardless, thanks for sharing your memories of the 2300 block of Jackson. I spent a lot of time in the block, especially visiting my lifelong friend Jacqueline Davis. 2300 Jackson remains one of the finest and most stable blocks in the city. Of course, with Michael, there are also many Garnett School stories where my Aunt was Principal. Can't forget Midtown Little League and Roosevelt HS which were essentially in your backyard. I remain so delighted that you, Jackie and myself were at the Velt at the same time. "I Want you Back"....I share your initial reaction....but....it launched everything. I still have my Centipede LP and saw you perform it and other songs at a transformed movie theater in South Dallas.
Rebbie Jackson's late husband is my great aunt's grandson. My old neighbor's sister had a daughter by Rebbie's late husband's brother. I never met Rebbie, or her children, although many years prior to my great aunts death, she showed us tones of Jackson photos. My neighbor and I used to joke about having bloodline ties to Rebbie's children. I always thought she was a humble gentle woman.

Sorry for your mother’s loss of her friendship with rebbie. But in rebbie’s case, it wasn’t necessarily her brothers’ fame. She had gotten married/moved to Kentucky with her childhood sweetheart at the age of 18 the very same year she graduated high school (a year before her brothers were first introduced to the world as the Jackson 5). Despite The Jacksons still visiting their hometown every now & then along with their descendants (whether if it’s for Michael’s birthday, holding charity events, etc.), they may have to keep old friends, neighbors, etc. at a certain distance or have a bodyguard(s) with them for safety/security purposes while visiting…you just never know if there’s envy/jealousy or even evil intent hidden beneath the embraces, smiles, welcome home’s, etc. of those they knew or don’t know from their hometown. I don’t know them personally, but that’s just my thought/theory.

Hi Rebbie...but I still say Maureen. Regardless, thanks for sharing your memories of the 2300 block of Jackson. I spent a lot of time in the block, especially visiting my lifelong friend Jacqueline Davis. 2300 Jackson remains one of the finest and most stable blocks in the city. Of course, with Michael, there are also many Garnett School stories where my Aunt was Principal. Can't forget Midtown Little League and Roosevelt HS which were essentially in your backyard. I remain so delighted that you, Jackie and myself were at the Velt at the same time. "I Want you Back"....I share your initial reaction....but....it launched everything. I still have my Centipede LP and saw you perform it and other songs at a transformed movie theater in South Dallas.

Rebbie Jackson's late husband is my great aunt's grandson. My old neighbor's sister had a daughter by Rebbie's late husband's brother. I never met Rebbie, or her children, although many years prior to my great aunts death, she showed us tones of Jackson photos. My neighbor and I used to joke about having bloodline ties to Rebbie's children. I always thought she was a humble gentle woman.

She graduated with my mom from Gary Roosevelt’s Class of 1968. My mom grieved the loss of her friendship because she was special. I never understood why they cut off everyone when they moved to California. It hurts when I think about what they could have done to uplift the children of Gary, Indiana. Their presence alone and mentoring, I am not speaking of money. 😢

Sorry for your mother’s loss of her friendship with rebbie. But in rebbie’s case, it wasn’t necessarily her brothers’ fame. She had gotten married/moved to Kentucky with her childhood sweetheart at the age of 18 the very same year she graduated high school (a year before her brothers were first introduced to the world as the Jackson 5). Despite The Jacksons still visiting their hometown every now & then along with their descendants (whether if it’s for Michael’s birthday, holding charity events, etc.), they may have to keep old friends, neighbors, etc. at a certain distance or have a bodyguard(s) with them for safety/security purposes while visiting…you just never know if there’s envy/jealousy or even evil intent hidden beneath the embraces, smiles, welcome home’s, etc. of those they knew or don’t know from their hometown. I don’t know them personally, but that’s just my thought/theory.
