I play Gregory the whole time while at work, then I miss him when I leave the office. Then I play his music when I cook or do the dishes and drive the car. I wake up with a particular song in mind and then play it first at the office. Every song for me is a masterpiece and it demands my whole attention. I am so blessed to find my all favorite artist. Greg, if you are reading this - you make this world a better place.
I'd crumble if someone said something half as well articulated as you were in this beautiful comment, on a song and artist I'm hearing for the first time. I paused it at the beginning to spill my heart out to you. Without even hearing the song, I want you to know that I could read anything you ever write.
I'm from Iraq and I fucking love his music, imagine being so good that a country guy from Iraq who lives in a small village knows about you and listens to you !
Im glad he's finally getting the credit he deserves. I'm seeing more of his shows selling out. I've seen him play 7 times in 4 different states, and his shows are amazing. If you are considering going to a show, just go, you won't be let down.
I agree with ya'll. The first two times I saw him were Nashville, and Louisville both in small bars, the former at which the band (just a trio at the time) were hanging out front of the venue in gregory's silver volkswagen euro van just waiting for the show to start, as you would imagine any small time traveling act. It's been so crazy to see the rise and triumph of their career over the past 5 years. I got the pleasure and fortune of attending the last Colorado Symphony show in Denver two January's ago and was blown away. Even though I knew how much progress and traction they had, it was right in plain view as this small time thing once upon a time had packed out Beotcher symphony hall with fans just there to see them. It really has been constant work and Gregory deserves every bit. They have been touring almost constantly for years.
@ The Man this is really nice to hear, I often read a lot of people wanting to keep their favorite artists a secret, but great music should be shared. I cannot wait for the album and hope to see him one day live!
Just moved to Paris, coming from Amsterdam. Different culture, language and people. Whilst I walk through the city I play Gregory Alan Isakov and the world around me just dances along with the sound. His music just makes me feel like in a different dimensions and think so deeply about lost loved ones. It’s almost like spending time with them again. It lifts you up, into your own personal flow of imagination, sentimentality and gratefulness. Taking my girlfriend to his concert in Paris this november, truly can’t wait. Thanks Gregory and the band for all the wonders you create and share with us. All the best to you!
Maria’s on the hill she was all “side of her eyes” a five-dollar wine as a blanket inside lay up the pages on a traveling bed watch the Blood of Christ Mountains, oh they all turn red howl at the half moon, radio queen she’s all smoke, she’s all nicotine the songs in my pocket just crumble apart won’t you sing me something for the dark Maria’s got wings, she’s got legs for the sea a captain’s coat and a note for me wake up Marie, before the season turns set your dash for the coast, watch the Sangres burn howl at the half moon, radio queen she’s all smoke, she’s all nicotine the songs in my pocket just crumble apart won’t you sing me something for the dark, dark, dark
I was able to see him twice last year here in California and at both shows he played at this song. Both times I was absolutely blown away and could not wait until I was able to hear a record version of it. I really hope the rest of the album is even half as good as a song. We will be seeing him again also on 6th and San Francisco can't wait to hear the new album played live
I love everything about Greg's music and the way the banjo is used in my favorite style. Lonely, subdued & quiet, it's feeling just out of reach yet calling our hearts. I've informed my children as to what I would like for Christmas 🎼
Watched him in Tuscon the other night. Good god the whole crowd was stomping with the beat, I feel. Was so hard to not belt out the lyrics along with the band!
You are all goodness GAI. Evening cool breeze under sunset sky in the last day of September with you at RedRocks will be sublime. Thank you for your labor of love.
The world is actually very SAD. But the magic happens when we start to find happiness in pain. And there we have some magicians like Greg, Steven Sufjans, The lumineers who give u the peace of mind through restless feelings and pain. That' how our life exactly is!

I feel the same way! Best shows I've been to.

Im so envious, it will be for sure, my dying wish to see him perform. if only i had the money to fly from the Philippines to see him in person 😭😭

Those mornings when I wake up to new music from Gregory Alan Isakov I go from begrudgingly waking up to “this is going to be an awesome morning !”
rorrim ytrid and he sang you something for the dark dark dark? 😉
This is true.
usually im begrudgingly saying "this is going to be an awesome morning" cuz waking up is for suckers
Same. Some of the best waking up tunes for me 😁
I need new music from him to survive, 3 years is long, covid made them longer

Thanks

“Watch the Blood of Christ Mountains, oh they all turn red”
He is like a musician character singing to me from a long lost John Steinbeck novel. My favorite male musician / band.
There's definitely something spiritual about this song.
Your music makes me feel like everything will be alright.

I’m so in love with this music, I wish it could just play everywhere I go
October 5th I'm calling in sick so I can listen to the album all day
Just saw this man live with my little sis - awesome. 10/10.
Everything you do has your soul in it. Why wouldn't it be beautiful? Best Thursday. 💗 Darkness is what healers study.
I love everything about Greg's music and the way the banjo is used in my favorite style. Lonely, subdued & quiet, it's feeling just out of reach yet calling our hearts. I've informed my children as to what I would like for Christmas 🎼
This is one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time. SO HYPED FOR THE ALBUM!!!!
I want to see Gregory live so badly. I hope he comes down to South America someday.
I was so lucky to see him and Josh Ritter on the same program. It was epic. I will never forget.
Just saw him two nights ago and it is really something to experience.
I know the feeling. Have for 10 years now.#lifegoals
God DAMN I am hyped for this album. I've listened to this song half a dozen times already.
God, this music touches parts of my soul I didn't know I had.
Have been listening to horrible phone recorded live versions of this song for months. Such an amazing song and lovely to hear in it's original form.
I named a playlist Dark, Dark, Dark. Because this song is everything.
Watched him in Tuscon the other night. Good god the whole crowd was stomping with the beat, I feel. Was so hard to not belt out the lyrics along with the band!
This is exactly what I needed this morning. Can't wait for the full record!
Stunning. One of the best songs of the year.
One of my new favourites!
I was lucky enough to see him perform this last week. He's too talented.
You are all goodness GAI. Evening cool breeze under sunset sky in the last day of September with you at RedRocks will be sublime. Thank you for your labor of love.

GAI puts his whole heart and soul into everything he produces and the World is so much more blessed for it.
The songs in my pocket just crumble apart, won't you sing me something for the dark?
This year, Christmas comes on October 5th! Just one more sleepless night, and then it will be here! Anyone else feel like that, too?

Just in love with this singer!!!
Anyone else finding them self closing their eyes, tilting their head back and swaying to the notes of that banjo solo?

I've always wondered who Maria is . She's written about in a lot of his songs.
Maria is the name of his banjo player ( cross dresser).
@@terrytibbs5678 this is incorrect his name is Steve Varney
New album in the mail. Nice evening! 😀
In love with you
This song is so great I just wish the instrumental wasn’t so “poundy”, I can’t think of any other way to describe it. If done closer to the style of chemicals I would love it even more
Vacationed at the foot of the “blood of Christ mountains”. Man did they turn red…

Don't know this dude but I'm about to get on that.
Did you alexi murdoch work a deal? Dig the lyrical rewrite and the climactic build and the bridge.
"A five-dollar wine as a blanket inside"...
Gregory, a fucking genius
