I use a 6 gallon water jug under the counter with a marine water foot pump, which works great inside my tiny house in Montana. Great video the cabinet came out awesome. I just started posting videos myself . Thanks
A camping hack I use at home for quick dishwashing is: A spray bottle with dish soap/water -- I wet my sponge and spray the dish and easily clean it, you can also use a spray bottle with your hot water to rinse. I use an empty glass vinegar bottle with a sprayer from a used bottle. It is ever so handy - can use to clean my stove top also. Loved the video - always look forward to watching your projects.
Great job on a genius and beautiful sink/stove build! Love that you share the mistakes as well as the fixes! An idea on doing dishes-maybe clean the largest item first (your pan), then use IT as a vessel to hold the soapy water, wash all the items and set them in the sink, then rinse all (including the pan) at one time in the sink.
I know it sounds crazy, but it was good to see that mistakes can be made and fixed so well that they don't matter at all. Your kitchen is great!! Happy camping!
doesn't sound crazy at all . its so important to be able to fix mistakes or work around them . especially when you make as many as I do LOL. Thanks you too !!
I'd recommend a rubber stopper for the sink (you really can't go wrong with those). For rinsing it might be good to use one of those plastic rinse bottles with the narrow tip like they use to irrigate wounds or rinse beakers down. It's simple, portable, and wouldn't use tons of water.
I would add a slide out for bucket that is connected to the slide out for sink is the only change I would make. Great design thanks for the inspiration.
I love your 'kitchenette' addition, perfect! That is the neatest stove, I've never seen one like it before. You sir are an excellent craftsman, very well done... AND you can cook! 😀👍
That was a nice clean project. Compliments on your videos. You don't talk for the sake of filling in the silent parts. Very well done and thank you for sharing your techniques. I enjoy learning. Take care. Roland
I have been watching Dave and Brooke's channels for several years now. Plus now watching their kids as well. I heard them talking about you so I thought why not. I am enjoying watching.
Use a plastic container to hold the soap water that is about 1/3 the size of the sink. Use your cloth to clean the dishes with the soapy water. Then, rinse on the 2/3 side of the sink where the drain is. I do this even in my home sink. Loved the video!
Ryan love your work. I use a 12 dollar usb powered rechargeable water pump while camping in one of the blue water jugs you have. that might work for your sink also but it does take counter space. those are not spoiled dogs. They are happy dogs and happy dogs make happy companions.
The greatest projects, when completed, are the ones that look like they have always been there and are a part of the larger project! Great job on this! Thanks for sharing with us and enjoy!

If you offered a summer camp for grown ups I would definitely come to earn some building and off grid merit badges! Your place is so nice and well thought out! Nice job all around 👍🏼
I live off grid in a 10 by 20 shed Amish building and I use a weed sprayer to rinse my dishes.. it's just a 1 gallon from harbor freight that I adapted the hose on to take a kitchen sprayer rinse nozzle on it.. Your pump up the pressure and it's great for rinsing and for taking off-grid showers although I do have a 4 gallon that I use for taking showers.. I just keep the one gallon sprayer in the bucket underneath my sink when not in use because I always empty my bucket underneath the sink after I do dishes I don't want any of those nasty smells
Love this. Drawer under the stove for pot, pan, utensil and dish rag. Pull out sink is great for me. Mobility problems so I have a small stool for cooking and dish washing. And you still have a good area for prep.
Two for one ! A carpentry and cooking show for the price of one 😃. You can’t beat that. Excellent video editing and commentary. Thanks for the very enjoyable video.
I have that same stove/oven in my trailer...to help cook more even temp, I use a rectangle pizza stone and a oven thermometer...on the stove top, don't put the glass top down till the urner area is cold...have read that people have had a problem with it shattering...great kitchen build...great channel.
Hey thanks for the tips . I can see where a pizza stone would help block some heat from below , its a pretty small oven . I made sure it was pretty cool before I lowered the glass
I totally love the sink under counter idea! I'll be redesigning kitchen in my bus and so badly want lots of counter space, which is hard to accomplish in smaller kitchens like one in my bus. Thank you so much for the idea!
Another fine job ! You are able to make what you need from what you have...Bravo ...such good information for the rest of us ! Thank you ! May you and yours be safe , well and warm !
What a great addition to your cabin. Living simply doesn't always mean you have to go without a few creature comforts. As for rinsing off the dishes, I have a half gallon pump up spray bottle that I purchased from a garden store, it has an adjustage nozzle that can be turned down to a fine mist spray, and I find this absolutely perfect for washing off the soapy suds without using lots of water. Many thanks David in the UK
Love watching the progress on your little getaway cabin and the efficient kitchenette is a great idea. I grew up camping the old style way, canvas cabin tent, sleeping bags on the ground and outhouses. It was uncommon to have electricity at the campsite. My mother would carry two plastic tubs for dishwashing, one fit inside the other. She used one for washing the other for rinse. If you use a bio-friendly soap, the water can be tossed into the shrubbery. Even when I eventually got a popup camper with a sink, I preferred to wash dishes in the same manner outside rather than inside. Simple but effective.
hey I'm glad to hear you've been following along ! I love old style camping and agree its nice just washing them outside at the picnic table with a fire going , just thinking of it makes me want to go camping
Great addition to the cabin. Perhaps a towel bar on the side of the cabnet next to the wood stove to dry towels and dish cloths. Also maybe rub wax over the base of the drawer that slides under the cook stove. It will pull out and push in evenly. We always enjoy your content. Thank you!
I've always used the serving trays you see at cafeterias to do my dishes on camping trips. One to wash one for rinse, you can get them online used pretty cheap.
the hideaway sink is genius! Hubby and I are building a tiny home this coming summer, and I think I might do something like this for us too ... Thanks for sharing with us!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Your calm talking and the very low gentle music in the background were relaxing. You did a fine job, you're a creative and skilled man. God bless and ty for the upload. I will come again as it was well worth the time..
First off you have done a fantastic job! Well done👍🏻 My advice is to get one of those kitchen faucets from rv kitchen sinks. They somehow bend down towards the sink when not in use. That way you can close the drawer that holds the sink. 👍
I really liked this project and you gave me ideas for shop cabinets I want to build. Oh yes, you reinforced my keeping wood scraps until they are tiny pieces. They ALWAYS come in handy for other projects!
I recently bought 9 acres of raw land a stones throw from Lake Ontario. Looking forward to building my own off grid cabin. I love your ideas for space saving yet functional projects. Nice job 👍
Electrician here. If you still wanted to use that receptacle, you probably could use a power strip; just place it on the outside of the cabinet and drill a big enough hole so the cord can go inside. Given what I've seen you do so far, I know you have the skill to wire the cord direct, that is if you want to keep that receptacle closed off. Just make sure you have a blank cover with a drilled opening just big enough for the cord to fit through (or have a black plastic connecter punched through the hole to seal the opening a bit more). It's a bit Jerry-rigged, but it's still safe. If you're worried about water from the bucket, you can further shield the back of the cabinet with a cheap plastic sheet against the wall or a foam mat. Just something to think about if you really need that receptacle.
"Use what you have" is my motto too! :D Nice build. You put screen over the insulation??? Brilliant! Thank you! Shallow plastic bucket (like the hospital kind) to rinse your dishes. It can live in the sink when not in use. Towel rack on the left side of the cabinet and or a fold-up shelf for more counter space.
Really enjoyed this video. It gave me lots of ideas. Amazon sells the rechargeable shower with a hose nozzle that you can turn off and on. You could place it into a collapsible bucket with clean water for rinsing and could be used as an outdoor shower if needed. Duel purpose item.
The sink in the drawer is definitely a neat idea, however I think I would have installed the sink like normal and then built a cover or filler to create more counter space. Then you could have a facuet with a foot pump to make washing dishes and other things easier.
Lovely Kitchenette! Love the roll-out sink! Just an FYI, Teflon tape not advised on flare gas fittings. Keep up the great work & videos! I love watching them.
Thanks !! I didn't really think a flared fitting would need it but wasn't sure with the tape in the pack . I'll probably take it off the flared ones thanks
Just found your site. Love it! Hubby and I are in planning stage of building our camp post and this is a great vid with your other ones to help in planning. Thank you
Ahh very cool! I had built the same sink design but never put it to use because I wanted to have the drain hooked up somehow to movable plumbing. This may reinspire me lol. Thanks for sharing, James & Kitties
Thanks !! that was my plan too but I just decided to call it good for now and maybe come back to it in a while . I'm sure it could be done somehow with some flexible pipe maybe . glad you liked it !!
Awesome idea Ryan👍🏻👍🏻. Thanks for sharing with us. I like the little plastic totes for washing and rinsing. It depends on where I am, i will use one of the little pump spray bottles for rinsing, and space saver. I have one of the collapsible dish drainers, and plan to get a collapsible dish pan to save space. Love and Appreciate what you are doing. Stay safe and warm. God Bless Y'all. Love and Prayers For All ♥️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nothing like one of your videos on a Saturday night view! Awesome work! I can actually see myself living full time in something like this! May have to lose the wife though 😂
Nice work. At our off grid cabin we have what's called a hot pot with a sticker for hot ware over the sink. It holds around 5 gallons and we heat it with the wood stove or the stove top. Works well because it's stainless steel .good luck .enjoying your videos.
Suggestion for rinsing and drying dishes: you can buy a dish drying rack that typically sits on the counter beside the sink, then get the plastic mat that goes underneath for run-off water into the sink. You can use both to then rinse and dry the dishes. Additionally, if you get a stainless steel drying rack, you could probably move the dishes to ontop of the stove for a fast dry-heat drying :)
Those flexible thin flat sink stoppers that lay on top of the drain and drain bezel work really well plus they allow you more real estate to wash dishes
Water in a large plastic spray bottle would rinse your dishes. A simple over sized bath tub plug would fix that sink issue. Dollar stores sell those in packs of 3 ..with each plug top being a different diameter yet the stopper that fits in the drain hole is the same size on all 3.
To rinse dishes, a collapsible dishpan can collect the clean, soapy dishes, then you can either pour the rinse water down the drain when done (or keep it for the next wash, adding boiling water and additional soap when you're ready to wash the next load of dishes).
It’s a great project,I can see myself using pallet wood for this as well as utilizing my kreg jig and backing it with the 3/8 bead border plywood I have on hand, and an oven with 4 burners from a camp trailer!
Thanks !! I have an older Kreg jig I bought years ago . I've never even given it a test run should try it out some day . sounds like you're being resourceful I like it !!
Great video. Just a fyi on your gas fittings. Tape is not used for any flared fitting. The part that came out of your stove and the part the flex line attaches to seals on the end of it, not the threads. Pipe tape just makes it harder to get tight. If the pipe is just threads without the flange at the tip then it needs tape. Yours probably wont leak, but just information for the future.
I'll use plywood and drop it in the floor to put the insulation on. Other than that, all the same as you did. I love your videos. Very informative. I didn't think about connections for propane. I am now. Love the boot scraper on the porch. I gotta get one of those.
Greetings from Russia. Great house. Why don't you use electricity for heating? It is clear that there is a forest around, there is a lot of firewood, but electricity is easier. In addition, the stove takes up space, and you can’t put anything next to it. You can also use an electric stove and oven instead of a gas cylinder. About windows, you can use multi-chamber windows with two or three glasses for better heat conservation. Well done, hello dog, good luck!😊
Thanks !! all I have for electricity is a 100 watt solar panel and a battery it would need a huge upgrade to make electric heat possible . most electric electric heaters even small ones use at least 750 watts on low and 1500 on high . the windows are double pane glass .
Thanks for sharing but I have question on that stove or really the oven. Do you think you could bake a turkey in it. I'm looking at similar ovens for my cabin thought I would ask if you dont mind sharing....
I don't know its not very tall inside of the oven . you could probably bake a chicken or a large turkey breast but I don't think a whole turkey would fit
I absolutely love seeing videos of the cabin, from initially building it to any improvements made to it. I am curious about the stove though.....i cannot remember if you mentioned what brand/model it is in previous videos.
awesome glad you're enjoying them !! the wood stove is made by England stove works not sure of the model . the RV stove is made by Furrion also not sure of the model.
Love the design for the most part ~ but ~ as someone who cooks full meals from scratch and then does dishes, that sink would be at the proper height to not destroy my back. Make a cutout to cover it, because after doing dishes in it 2-3 times a day for a week you are going to have a backache. You'll have the counter space you need and be able to work comfortably.
Looks good but I would add an RV 12v fridge on the side using the plug under the sink. I would also add a flexy drain pipe for the sink going through the floor. Looks really well, it is becoming a home.
Black Spruce, love your content! How about screwing a handled ball valve to the base of the sink, it would serve as the plug & the waste water exit, quick & easy fix...🎉
It is a great pleasureto watch your videos... I hope to be doing similar soon!! Great jod on the kitchen!!! Thanks again and looing forward to your next video!!!
You are fantastic. I am only 77 yr young and I keep my dreams with all of you. Off-grid for the future for me. I just love to watch you'all work. Make my days continue.

And just use the five gallon bucket

Love and Prayers For All ♥️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you !! I keep hearing the pumps prayer works great for rinsing I might have o give that a try !!
Awesome job! I used a rv stove/oven at our tiny cabin in the Yoop. I use a galvanized bucket that pulls out of the counter top with a usb rv faucet
Thanks !! I'll have to look into those faucets
Nice little build
Thank you !!
I think your pull out sink is brilliant!
Thanks !!
Nothing like one of your videos on a Saturday night view! Awesome work! I can actually see myself living full time in something like this! May have to lose the wife though 😂
Glad to hear it! you try to move her into something that small and you probably won't have to worry about losing her lol
I've been following all of you. For quite awhile. Love your content.
thats awesome !! thanks Jason !
I like your cabin. Very nice attention to detail. Not messy or haphazard things in the corner. Peace Love Happiness
Thank you !!! I have a. couple other videos that show a bit more of it like the loft .
Brooke had a foot pump in her Vardo. Also, just a plain rubber stopper will work for the sink. Love it.
Thats right I'll ask her where she got it and check it out to see if it will work well for my set up . Thanks !!
Nice work. At our off grid cabin we have what's called a hot pot with a sticker for hot ware over the sink. It holds around 5 gallons and we heat it with the wood stove or the stove top. Works well because it's stainless steel .good luck .enjoying your videos.
Sorry I just looked ours up, it's aluminum and it should have said spigot not sticker.
I was wondering what you meant by that , and that makes a lot more sense now . Sounds like a good way to go thanks !!! glad you're liking them !
Suggestion for rinsing and drying dishes: you can buy a dish drying rack that typically sits on the counter beside the sink, then get the plastic mat that goes underneath for run-off water into the sink. You can use both to then rinse and dry the dishes. Additionally, if you get a stainless steel drying rack, you could probably move the dishes to ontop of the stove for a fast dry-heat drying :)
oh thats a good idea just put them in the rack soapy then pour the water over them and let it drain into the sink great idea !!
Those flexible thin flat sink stoppers that lay on top of the drain and drain bezel work really well plus they allow you more real estate to wash dishes
hey thats a good cheep fix ! thanks for the idea !
What a great cabinet and awesome idea for the sink.
Thank you !!
Left a comment earlier. Love the video. Looks like a fun project that'll pay off over and over. God bless
awesome glad you liked it ! thanks !!
That turned out to be a really nice little kitchen. Great job!!
Thanks !!
This was relaxing to watch, and I learned something.
Awesome !! thanks !
Could get a plastic dish tub for camping to hot water in to rinse the dishes. Once you've dumped it, it should fit neatly in your sink for storage.
That would work !!
love the size of the kitchenette and that sink!
Thanks !!
Water in a large plastic spray bottle would rinse your dishes.
A simple over sized bath tub plug would fix that sink issue. Dollar stores sell those in packs of 3 ..with each plug top being a different diameter yet the stopper that fits in the drain hole is the same size on all 3.
sounds like a good idea thanks !
To rinse dishes, a collapsible dishpan can collect the clean, soapy dishes, then you can either pour the rinse water down the drain when done (or keep it for the next wash, adding boiling water and additional soap when you're ready to wash the next load of dishes).
good way to go thanks !
Thanks old guy know how! 69 this year and always learning new stuff I’m going to home build me a camper!
@@donaldfrazier5244 awesome!! I really had a good time building my camper
Thanks !! I kinda figured that but thought the tape might help . I think I'll get a gas detector and mount it in that area just incase .
I'll use plywood and drop it in the floor to put the insulation on. Other than that, all the same as you did. I love your videos. Very informative. I didn't think about connections for propane. I am now. Love the boot scraper on the porch. I gotta get one of those.
I have a garden pump type sprayer I use for camp kitchen duties and it is awesome.
great idea !!
I would use a plastic dish tub to rinse the dishes. And nice job on making everything
Thats good way to go ,. Thanks , glad you liked it !!!
I don't know its not very tall inside of the oven . you could probably bake a chicken or a large turkey breast but I don't think a whole turkey would fit
another outstanding addition to the cabin. Gob Bless
Thanks, you too!
@blackspruce1861 I sincerely appreciate your response. I Love the cabin videos!
This is awesome! I love how nice and compact this is , just a great job
Thank you !!
Great looking build! Like always. Thank you
Thanks again!
Thanks !! yes it's a little low but its a getaway cabin and we're not there full time
Looks good but I would add an RV 12v fridge on the side using the plug under the sink. I would also add a flexy drain pipe for the sink going through the floor.
Looks really well, it is becoming a home.
I might eventually do something like that . I think I wold want to upgrade my solar kit a bit
@@blackspruce1861 It is really coming together. It is more like a tiny home than a basic cabin now.
Black Spruce, love your content! How about screwing a handled ball valve to the base of the sink, it would serve as the plug & the waste water exit, quick & easy fix...🎉
Thanks !! That would do it !
🌷Get a metal dish pan dish water can be heated on the wood stove or kept warm there, works good. Grandfather lived 45 years like that.😊
That would be a great way to go !
I love your sink and cabinet so cool
Thanks !!
I love this build Ryan!!!!
hey thanks Jill !! I was really happy with the way this one turned out too
That’s an awesome setup. I hope to do something similar..thx for the video
Thanks !! No problem I’m glad you liked it !
very nice job! cabin looks great👍👍
Thanks!!
It is a great pleasureto watch your videos... I hope to be doing similar soon!! Great jod on the kitchen!!! Thanks again and looing forward to your next video!!!
