Great interview. Todd has always seemed like a man of integrity. I love that he approaches everything as an artist first and a business man second. He has great instincts and he proves that time and time again. I’m a Toddfather fan for life!
Thanks for the interview. You should have asked if we woud get the DC Direct Lucadore stuff that was shown at Toyfair NY in 2020, I think or 2019. It would be nice if they released that stuff. The scuplts were super cool.
McFarlane Toys DC MULTIVERSE brought me back into collecting action figures. He is an amazing artist. I don't read comics but I love his designs. My UA-cam channel also focuses 90% on DC figures specifically McFarlane. You're a very luck man to have the chance to interview him. A new subscriber here.
Todd and his understanding of the “Cool Factor” is definitely spot on. Only Todd has gotten me to buy multiple figures from properties I’m not familiar with. As he said, if it looks cool, has sculpted detail, and is below what most companies ask? That is seriously something that as the years go by I find more and more important. I’m tired of Hasbro and buying the same figure that’s just been re-pitched and re-sold to me time and time again, and the predatory “glam shots” that get plastered all over the internet that coaxes us all. I find myself finding something new in every figure McFarlane release. Some are home-runs and others are duds, but it’s really hard to beat what he offers to the table. Ever since I was a kid I wanted nothing more than a truly articulated Spawn figure, no more statues, and Todd has delivered on that. He is also making a plethora of Video Game figures that we rarely get to see in plastic, as well as ton of obscure characters that we probably we never see the light of day if it wasn’t for Todd and his “Cool Factor”.
Great interview big fan Todd McFarlanes Spawn action figures comic books and these DC multiverse figures as well . Just the bold joints look awkward but I'm still collecting them. We need fist 👊hands on all figures .

I mean theres still alot of other lines that are pretty successful. Dont get me wrong todds stuff is cool and one of the only affordable lines right now but it's not like dc will go flopside if they go lol.
All I want is a Detective Chimp figure. he's never been done, has an interesting design, and has had some great storylines in Tynion"s JL Dark run. its time.

todd is speaking the thruth here. you have to make figures that are faithful to the comics but then also make new cool looking figures not tied to anything.
You got to love Todd he’s a man who goes his own way and whatever you think about his practices and techniques making figures the man makes it entertaining 👍
This was an awesome and insightful interview, best interview I’ve seen with him talking about the DC line. I get his point on wanting to make “cool toys” that appeal to kids and the inner kids inside of all of us. But I’d love a commissioner Gordon or other type of figure like that, DC multiverse is as more of a collectors line as it is a kids line..at least I think so anyway. I hope kids are buying these and playing with them lol
Todd McFarlane is soooo right ✅about everything and most likely about the money too. Hey man, great interview. Big fan of McFarlane toys. Avid collector of the DC Multiverse, Warhammer, Mortal Combat, Spawn etc lines. Think 7 inch figures just the right size. I do hope Todd knows most of his customers are adults. I'm 53 but still have the 9 y.o. inside. Hope he keeps doing what he has been doing for a long time. Just wish he would apply a bit more paint to save me from doing it. Happy to pay couple extra bucks. cheers from Australia.
I absolutely love that man bat. But I would freak if I saw a teen titans raven six inch figure from the classic TV series not the new teen titans tv show the original one.
I technically don't mind the side eye. All I do ask is that there are more options, I do understand that the price is affected when given options. But check this out, I've mentioned this in alot of other videos & posts the Mr. Mcfarlane has been in but have unfortunately gotten no response, and that's cool, everyone is busy and that's understandable. But check this out, accessory packs for the main heroes & villains that are already out. You know you see the mystery boxes for some lines and they charge 6 to 7 dollars for something that you have no idea you're going to get? Mr. Mcfarlane can do a wood crate looking thing that you know what you're getting, swap out head, hands, & weapons and charge half the price of the figure that it corresponds to.
I believe in the shartimus prime interview he did mention accessory packs, I think that would be a great solution. Maybe sell them directly on the McFarlane site!

Todd is so cool!! When I heard bout Todd doing the batman who laughs I was like gotta get him!! As a collector I hope he makes more arkham figs!! I love the villains more than the heroes. If we could get arkham poison ivy and arkham catwoman I'd be super excited. Great interview and Todd keep the figs going!!
I just want Mr Todd to know that his DC multiverse line is the whole reason I started collecting again I stopped collecting and I was 15 and discovered girls and I'm 52 now and I have 139 of these characters I think
That was fun! So if it doesn't already exist, some aftermarket company (similar to what goes on in the Tr as nsformers world)should be able to corner the niche market on making guns/weapons/accessories specific to MacFarlane 7 inch DC Multiverse characters.
@@AsokatheGeek tbh though, I didn't get phased or even realize a difference with the side-eyes at first when I got the green power suit Lex Luthor or Superboy Prime. Most figures it works just fine. A few though, would be better looking straight
I respect Todd’s love for his toys, however I wish he would make head sculpts with his figures.I do stop motion with primarily mcfarlane. I don’t mind his lack of articulation, I just want a character to have more expressions and not have to buy another figure.I also hope he won’t do as many exclusives as well.I’m still traumatized after my year 2 Batman indecent.I still love his figures and respect for his selection of dc characters.
Batman monster truck is still dumb... I just had a horrible thought, if he puts the keaton Batman in the retro line and does a batmobile I hope it's not toy biz 89 batmobile inspired with no roof and undersized!
I will buy female action figure only if they sexy or if character the bad ass! She spawn - sexy and bad ass, batwooman - just cool! Artemis, power girl, Wonder Woman but muscular 💪 like 90s style from trinity!

Todd is really frustrating. He makes hypocritical points like he'll make artist specific figures but when it comes to making an accurate figure that the company want him to make he's like nah. He's purposefully making figures inaccurate according to his own words yet is surprised when fans get annoyed online. Honestly the sooner this license is out of his hands and at Hasbro the better.
I really love what McFarlane is doing, but you are right, they are doing their own spin on things. But the new Booster Gold and Blue Beetle look VERY comic accurate!

Bend in the chest is UGLY but please make more than just batman ffs , it's DC multiverse not "batman multiverse" Todd is awesome but I call BS on his "no love for Female figures" nonsense.
I collect most of his Superman related figures, and as now, there's far too much Batman. Sadly, the quality of his figures is no better than usual. The repaints are always very obvious and disappointing, it's a disgrace that a remolding of any particular part isn't done.
