Now it’s like non stop Mardi Gras in New Orleans! I don't know if there's anything wrong with that particular White Castle restaurant, but White Castle in general is really good. They are the original "sliders," since 1921! Comfort food for many people, a White Castle is a small hamburger with cooked onions and pickles on a soft warm bun. Definitely a part of Americana!
Once my Texan boss called me at home about some work matter on a Friday evening. His words were, "Why, I thought you'd be out honky tonking!" in complete earnestness and in a thick Texas drawl. 🤣🤠So hilarious! The term is old fashioned, but still used.
Growing up here, I took this for granted and thought all downtown areas were like Broadway. The only other downtown places I knew were New Orleans and Panama City. Also, party towns. When I first started traveling for work, the girl I went with was also a Nashville native. Our firm would always give us an extra day to explore the cities we went to. We were shocked when we would go to a downtown area to party and nothing existed or not to the level we were used to. We even went to high school on Broadway, so seeing places that weren't like Broadway were a culture shock for us, lol.

Cook Out is so much better than White Castle. It just goes to show how Nashville has almost split itself from the south. White Castle is a northern chain and the southern(and slightly better) version, Krystal, was even started in Tennessee. I can't believe they would let it's competitor in but I guess that is to cater to the northern tourist/stoners. Us southern stoners prefer to get out gut bombs from Krystal.

I'm fairly certain Harold and Kumar go to White Castle made it's way to the UK. Come on guys! 😎
The area you're staying at is more of a locals area, not much for tourists, which is a good thing. It's best to experience a bit of the local life rather than just the tourist cliche places. I lived, worked, and partied in that side of town in my youth.
8:17 the guy in the background with the Cocaine Is Keto shirt 😂
No self-respecting Southerner would ever be caught dead in a White Castle!
Your driver told you to skip White Castle? Oh hell naw.
There was a Walgreens 2 streets over from where you were, should've checked Google Maps.
You look whipped Shaun and seem out of breath .Hope you had a good night's sleep.
I have always wanted to visit Nashville but that is not my style. Maybe it's better in fall/winter.
The whole city isn't like that, just that small part of town. However, it's like that year round.
you guys didnt get lots of that in New Orleans...... I am shocked
We did but I think Nashville was more intense
Google will always help you find what you need! .... ex: cafes, restaurants, convenience stores, etc
Cook Out is great for drunk college students. White Castle is great for high people. I doubt a sober adult would be impressed by either one.
Lolol a LITERAL nightmare 🥴🤣 You are so diplomatic & positive Shaun. It was God-awful. & I'm from & live in the south. Most of the crap they were playing wasn't even country music.🤦♀️ Nashville has REALLY gone downhill in the last decade or so.
@Shaun Yes, you went Honky Tonkin'.. It's a real thing, especially in Texas. Next time you come to Texas you need to go to Arkey Blue's and 11th Street Bar and Grill in Bandera and to Luckenbach, TX.
White Castle are nasty burgers. Once you've had Whataburger you won't want any other. And, you have had Whataburger.
Also, come back when you can attend. Mardi Gras in NOLA and/or Fiesta in San Antonio.
Next time I’m in Texas I’ll 100% go Honky Tonkin 😅
@@shaunvlog Just let us know! I am sure that David Sutherland and others from the Scottish Society of San Antonio would be glad to bring you back to the Hill Country and I will round up some of our Scots of the Texas Hill Country as well.I haven't been to 11th Street in about 15 years...far too long!
What day did you go out on Broadway? Just wondering if this is weekday or weekend crowds or if its the same whatever day it is
Too much country for this rock and roll lady.
White castle is OK if you don’t mind little bitty, boiled hamburgers
I heard John Rich of Big & Rich somewhere in there. But that place is a little too crazy for me.
They’re literally about a quarter of the size of a regular hamburger
I've never been in a honky tonk bar
Cook Out is so much better than White Castle. It just goes to show how Nashville has almost split itself from the south. White Castle is a northern chain and the southern(and slightly better) version, Krystal, was even started in Tennessee. I can't believe they would let it's competitor in but I guess that is to cater to the northern tourist/stoners. Us southern stoners prefer to get out gut bombs from Krystal.
A lot of tourists traps every where you go
Been honky tonkin in texas for 60 years a shot of black jack and beer not sist drinks
Hope you went to the classic Bluebird cafe and didn’t just focus on touristy Broadway. Now I know I won’t be going to Nashville, not like I was ever interested before.
White Castle: Uber driver is right. Don't bother unless you really enjoy acid reflux.
I just can't understand how they are still in business all these decades.
Its fine. It just a digestive trigger for some people and not for others. I certainly wouldn't waste money there in such a restaurant town though.
