Led Zeppelin was not fading. They would have sold out every show on this world tour had Bonzo not died, every single one. They went out on top. They were the biggest, most popular band in the world when he died. Your memory, apparently, it seems is what is fading.
In popularity, yes, they were still on top. However, as a band, they were falling apart drastically. Page and Bonzo were full time addicts, which effected their performance onstage, especially Page. Plant's voice had faded over time, and he was one accident away from leaving the band Permanently. Jonesy was the only one who still performed perfectly every time.
@@0sumgamezzz435 calm down, fading only in that through the live periods, the 1980 set was one that was most inconsistent. The excess had caught up with Page/Bonham/Grant, and it was apparent. Percy was over it as far as the shit going on around him was concerned. Yeah, they would have sold out, yeah, they would have killed it, but my feeling is one of them would not have made it through. We'll never know. I do think if they got to their next studio album it would have been as good as Physical Graffiti - based on Page's comments about talking to Bonzo about another guitar driven rock album. But unless they cleaned up a bit, yeah, they were fading.
@@H0tchips Nice try, but such low level word play ain't getting it here. I actually paid attention in kindergarten. Bonzo died so all of your coulda, woulda, shoulda scenarios don't mean shit. I stated facts, THEY were not fading, and I still clearly remember the buzz that was going around in Va Beach about them coming to the States, even though, the closest place they would play was the Cap Center in DC. You sound like some discredited ghost contributing writer for Hammer of the Gods, or better yet, an REM will return groupie.
@@0sumgamezzz435 "Bonzo died so all of your coulda, woulda, shoulda scenarios don't mean shit. I stated facts" - They would have sold out a world tour is a fact? That was a fact you stated??? (retorical, I won't be revisiting, your too angry a troll to care) They were fading is a subjective opinion. AN OPINION. Fact: Page/Bonzo/Grant were deep into an addiction that was influencing everything from set list to tour content. There was little control as Grant was as far gone as Page so no one to put the handbrake on. This plus the boots I have and regularly listen to leave me with the OPINION they were on the decline. They are the greatest band in history and will never be surpassed - IN MY OPINION - but they also WERE declining from the ridiculous heights of their past tours. Yeah, subjective, but I'll stick by it. Now move on and rage against someone else's innocuous comments troll.
Nobody could pick with such accuracy as Page does on this if they were on heroin deeply. Jimmy Page was a dedicated, very hard working musician whose greatest love was playing with Led Zeppelin. He may well have played hard but he worked at his musical passion harder.
almost always this song smoked LIVE....most zep songs were better live (when Zep was ' healthy"), but this one and a few others were 100% better than their recorded version(s).
To the end, even when they were fading, they DELIVERED this song every time.
