    Love your haul - those minis are amazing and you should have gone (even more?) over budget and gotten that third set! Love how the teal looks with the set you showed. I also applaud you for stopping the shawl and not continuing the misery. Sometimes we get so caught up in the ALONG and the mystery that we forget it needs to be good for us first and then the community second.

    First time watcher and thank you for your honest view of the weekend. One day? Maybe. I’m on the Yukon Territory though so it would be a journey. Instead I live vicariously through UA-cam! Love your yarn purchases.

      Thank you so much for watching! Oh yes that sure would be a journey for you! WOW. You'd probably be better off going to Washington State- there are so many yarn shops there! Some day I hope to get there.

    I love all the stuff you got at the shows. This minis! 👌🏻
    I’m with you on the “tapping out” 😂 in the MKAL. Life IS too short. But I’m looking forward to seeing the hood and what you end up finding to make wish the SQ and your MOTA.
    Get knitting ok!?

    What a great recap! Love that I can revisit Rhinebeck weekend any time now ♥️ it was so fun to go together. I loved hanging out together and trying out the airstream a fun adventure! Also turns out I have 10 patterns in my library by Bonnie Sennott that we met in the Starcroft building 😂

    yay! lori is the first rhinebeck post-er! ..."not interested in a RB haul?"...omg please! it's what we live for - esp. those of us that didn't get to go... so funny you showed Scout! i have a sample of it sitting here right next to me - was sent to me as a freebie from an order i placed with Tolt yarn - you are so right about the colors - soooo many. mine is a green colorway - they forgot to write the name (other than Scout) of the color on the card, but it is comprised of many shades of green and is spectack! i looked at your color on their website and it is also fabulous - some don't come through as well on-line. o, and it's 274 yds of DK for 16.00 which is so excellent. i will follow your pattern selection with interest...
    the wool dreamers teal yarn looks yummy. could that be a gray base it is dyed on? it's a beautiful color. and the minis! sooo good. and really nice match with the full skeins.
    i've never been to a yarn show :0( - but then too, i'm shy of large crowds. your hair is gorgeous lori - i wonder what beet wine tastes like? cheers from libby in utah

      Hi Libby! LOL You know, some people get weird about haul videos , personally I love them. I love the Scout yarn, it is so nice and soft and the color is very unique. I will definitely have to check out the website and see all the color options because I will for sure be buying this again in the future. You know maybe that is dyed on a grey base - I don't know for sure but the color is so rich and saturated. Yarn shows are fun, but overwhelming... for me- this was exactly what I needed. It felt so good to be around people that shared a common interest... I chatted with so many people about their knits they were wearing. It felt good to be around so much creativity. Did I need all that yarn? HECK NO. But what I did need was this comradery. it was what my soul needed.

      SMART. The only thing I would be missing is the podcaster meet up on Saturday ... and I think I'm okay with that. I'm surprised Sunday isn't busier, maybe some day it will be.

    I went for the very first time from Oshawa ON Canada. 7 hour drive. We stayed Friday and made Wool and Folk at 6 pm - not happy about that but got some beautiful yarn. Rhinebeck was busy. We got there at 10ish and made it through the A, B and C buildings quite well. I got to meet Kevin and Ray from Needles at the Ready, which I was happy as I buy their yarn and nice to meet in person. There were others as well - Andrea Mowry, We Share Needles Maddie and Knitty Natty. All and all I had a blast for my first time and FOR sure booking a hotel for next year. I can’t wait. Would love to meet you next year. I love all the yarn you😊 got - beautiful!

I would absolutely love to meet up next year. I think Sunday will be my day for sure next year. Super happy with my yarn choices, and I can't wait to get started! Happy Knitting!

    The rest of the food was on the other side of the bar, by the stage! I'm friends with Cydnie (we met on our Ireland trip) and wished I had met her at W&F! Your podcast showed up on my feed, what a treat!

    Lorelei, I just found your podcast today. I was at Rhinebeck for the first time yesterday, and I was overwhelmed! I kind of just hung with a friend and tried to absorb as much of the energy as I could. If I go again in the future, it would be on Sunday. I did do well getting some yarn I was after for a sweater in my future.
    I agree on not doing the MKAL, I did not enjoy any part of clue 1 and have decided my time is better spent working on projects I enjoy and will get more out of.
    I am very glad I found you, and I am looking forward to more!

      Hi Lisa, thank you so much for watching and commenting! Sounds like we are on the same page!! I can't imagine what a show like Vogue Knitting Live is all about in NYC where there is even LESS space and MORE people. UGH. I think I'll pass on that one.

    Came across you by “shear” accident in the middle of the night, and I’m so happy that I did. My son and his girlfriend were at a wedding near Rhinebeck that weekend and I had FqOMO. I follow many knitting Podcasters and loved all of the input. I enjoyed seeing your post Rhinebeck haul and your take on it. Was kind of thinking of going next year. I don’t know about being around crowds. I haven’t done much of that for a long time. Plus I find it annoying. I agree regarding Stephen’s shawls. He is sooo good, many are beautiful but I know I wouldn’t wear them. It would be a learning experience though. I will continue to follow you looking forward to what’s next.🦊🤗

      Thank you so much for watching and leaving me such a wonderful comment. I had such a good time with my friend this weekend and I highly recommend it if you've never been to this type of show. I think you could be smart about you know going on Sunday instead of the busier Saturday and there's lots of places to be able to take breaks when it gets a little bit crazy. We had perfect weather this weekend but sometimes it's been rainy and that can kind of stink because then you can't use those outdoor spaces as much.

    Lorelei, I'm so glad I found your channel, searching for Rhinebeck 2022 vids. I too am finding the Westknits MKAL dragging for me but I plan to push on for now. My colors are similar to yours, navy/grey/white color pop. I think they'll work well and I use Stephen's patterns as an exercise. They are way to loud for me to wear but I appreciate the challenge. Then, back to mittens and socks for me! I've subscribed and I loved your Rhinebeck haul, especially the Kelbourne Scout.

    I'm laughing so hard at your sentiment about the MKAL. I had the yarn but held off on getting the pattern; I decided to wait to see how it came out. You're the 2nd person I know who backed out of it, and honestly, I feel exactly the same; the Week 2 video made me think, "Nope, I don't want to do all that." (I'd be weaving in ends 'til the end of time.) I'm also laughing because my friends and I were debating that Airstream but couldn't decide who was coming to Rhinebeck. By the time we were at the "now or never" point, I went to book it and it was booked. Glad to know it was a decent little place to stay! Thank you for sharing all the info, and for the laughs! See you next year!

      Yea ya know it's really about the colors you choose. I knit his Exploration station and it is one of my most favorite shawls I have ever knit.The think about his MKALS is , I tend to get roped into the colors he would choose because he does such a nice job promoting the kits at Stephen and Penelope . it's easy to get sucked in. I didn't buy a kit this year I just wanted to knit from my stash and that was tough because I usually just buy one skein of fingering weight yarns. which i have to stop doing.

    • @laurenhobson374
      @laurenhobson374 2 роки тому +1

    Hi lorelei. I just watched your podcast for the first time and enjoyed it. I too went to wool and Folk and Rhinebeck on Saturday only. In hindsight, I wish I had gone to Rhinebeck on Sunday only instead. It was my first time going and the crowds were kind of overwhelming. I was super excited though to get to meet Kevin and Ray from Needles at the ready on the hill. I also saw Andrea Mowry and nitty Natty but didn't want to wade in to approach them.
    I loved seeing your yarn hall! I actually didn't buy anything at Rhinebeck. And the only things I bought at Wool and folk were one skein of the Magpie fibers show colorway on Swanky sock, and a project bag by Crista Jaeckel. I was impressed with her work and they are one of a kind so I couldn't resist the bag.

    Was at a crafts fair at hutton the weekend before, there were a few more food vendors, and it didnt cost $45 to get in , so a lot of families there. Great bands. But they need to improve the food, and i would not pay $45 to buy more yarn no matter how beautifull the space is by the river lol.

      I hear you!! not to like, justify why I would pay that amount- at the time of booking this trip, I was in a dark place and all I wanted was something to look forward to. Now I know what to expect for next year, and will maybe shift my budget around a bit to stay in a cheaper hotel so that it wasn't such a financial hit.

    I enjoyed your podcast. Just wondering what did you get for the $45 dollar admission fee at wool and folk? That seems a little ridiculous for adm. pricing. I went to Rhinebeck too on Saturday it was crowded but typical for wool and sheep, which I’ve been attending many many years now. Got some beautiful yarns and it was a gorgeous day!
    I totally agree with you about the mkal I am also using linen quill blue for main color and pale oats for lighter with a bright green. I did not feel the instruction stressed you should use and substantial bouncy fingering wt yarn which I think is a necessity in this design. I spent about 20 hrs on section 1, and half way through clue 2 quit because it just doesn’t hang well at all and the cabling will only make the problem worse. So although i will follow others progress I’m out. Would never wear this in a million years.

    • @HandmadebyLorelei
      @HandmadebyLorelei  2 роки тому +1

      HELLO! Glad you enjoyed it. Yea I got nothing for that $45 dollars except admission in. It was crazy. But there WAS really good yarn booths there. I wonder if it was because there was live music.... there was a bar as well..... so they have to staff that. The food should have been better - more available.... but maybe they've learned for next year. Who knows. I didn't go last year so I don't have anything to compare it to. Sorry to hear you've also given up on the MKAL. I never finished Texture Time ... and I never did Starflake ...actually there were about five between building blocks and Slipstravaganza that I didn't bother to knit. For me, his designs are Hit or Miss.

      Hi Christine, thank you so much for your comment. I am with you, 100%. I found it incredibly tedious. To the point of being annoying. My colors weren't too bad, I just wish I had chosen all the same base. I don't think Ive worn any of the MKAL shawls I've done. But I do wear my exploration station a lot. that one is my favorite.
