Wow! Absolutely beautiful! I wish I lived in a warmer climate to have an outdoor aviary like this
I live in Denmark - so we do have winter as well 😉 Some of the birds are indoor 1/3 of the year 🥶
❤🥰❤
😊😊
Hello from the Netherlands!
My dad and I have built an entrance hall to my chicken/rabbit/guinea pig run (size: 5*2*2 m) to safely enter the aviary because we're going to keep aviary birds in there! For the winter I already have an isolated area adjacent to the run so the bantam rooster wouldn't wake us up too early and the tiny hens won't freeze during winter. The first birds to go in (after I will have furnished it with ropes to sit on and a Fallopia to create a canopy of sorts) are my two six-year old zebrafinch males, when I get back from my trip to Romania I will start looking for java sparrows and I'm thinking of adding a few canaries, maybe long-tailed finches and a few extra zebra finches and eventually a pair of Bourk's parakeets. For tiny birds like star finches the wiring is too broad (19*19 on the sides) and for budgies and cockatiels the wiring on the roof is too thin (less than a mm and 13*13).
I'm really excited for this project, my dad has always dreamt of an aviary and now it's finally taking shape ❤
Sounds interesting and good! Though, it sounds like you plan to have small finches with large chickens? That can be a problem as they may eat adult finches but especially fledgelings will proberbly be taken by the chickens. So think twice about this😉
@@TropicalAviaryBirds I have thought twice and thrice about this, and I have bantams (the biggest is probably 700 grams, the rooster is under 500 grams, so properly tiny) if I want to breed I might have to do it separately, but I can probably try to breed once and I can always build a safezone under the birds' nests for when the young fledge to keep the chickens away from them.
Thank you for sharing your insights with me!
@@jobkaashoek Ok - good they are so small😉 Then it will work hopefully with the adults. But perhaps dont start with your old loved finches before you know they are safe. Also, first day let the chickens be in the house - so the finches feel a bit at home before the chickens enter. I had canary birds amd xl zebra finches with the chickens also - but didn’t try to breed them in the same aviary.
Simply beautiful and peaceful sounds! Looking forward to seeing videos of your birds breeding success. We just moving on Friday. Getting settled in. Hope all is well with you. Take care! Happy Father's Day to you!
I been wondering how you protect the birds from the cold weather on the winter?
Hi! Some come in during winter but many stay outdoor all year. I set up heating lamps when very cold. You can see more on this in some of my other long form videos - just search “winter + Torben Dehlholm” 😉
Beautiful bird's nice video good aviary
