When I was in elementary (grade 7) in assemblies we would sit in front of the gym facing the entire school. We had to set good examples for the younger grades and had to know the Canadian Anthem . When parents were expected at these assemblies our vice principal made each one of us recite the anthem prior to the assembly. The ones that did not know the words would be placed second row. Yes this was a type of shaming but by the end of the school year everyone knew the words inside out. ---- THUMBS UP IF YOUR SCHOOL RECITED THE ANTHEM IN ASSEMBLIES!!!
Why some people in radio should STAY in radio. Out of sight, no audience, hiding. Why no let someone with talent stroke this off their bucket list instead of her? Oh right. Celebrity = God.
please josie, stay on cosmo tv and go away. Bad enough we have to deal with this airhead on the edge, barry taylor long gone but somehow this airhead sticks it out.
If she wasn't pretty and blonde no one would cut her any slack lol Shows you the lack of character/standards some people have. Her voice was off from the start. Her pleading was awkward and cringe-worthy. She isn't new to Canada and performing. Sometimes we just draw a blank, it happens. She humiliated herself and it will be viewed time and time again. These moments build character...but someone mentioned she was working on this for a while...if that's true then this isn't just embarrassing it's pathetic.
Pretty fucking judgy there aren't you? She never claimed to have talent, and nobody asked you to give us a run down of what YOU think she did wrong, because we don't care what you think. And what does pretty and blonde have to do with anything? A tad racy don't you think? Also, she doesn't give a shit about what you or anyone else thinks, she tried, more than I can say about a lof the haters posting.
Silicon Toad Based on your logic I didn't ask for a run down. Do you know her personally or do you simply enjoy using "we" in sentences. I guess you are right about one thing. If she really doesn't care about anyone thinks that explains why she chose to a sing a song and decided memorizing the lyrics was just an optional objective.
Chantelle Brown Well, it's called stage fright. It happens to a lot of people. I enjoy using the word "we", because I used it to describe the other people that don't give a shit about what you have to say. Plural - We- more than one person, a group of people. I stated that she doesn't care what WE think because it was her own personal challenge, she mentioned this on her show the day after it happened. Pretty sure she wasn't trying to impress anyone. But she made a mistake and forgot some shit. 60 thousand people watching in the stadium, and how many millions watching on TV. A bit stressful I'd say for some. But not for you because you are perfect.
Silicon Toad When you truly don't give a shit - commenting is unnecessary. If she didn't care and/or was not trying to impress anyone that's very disrespectful. It's an anthem not karaoke.
She has no excuses. She practiced the song. Apparently she is a public speaker and has been in front of crowds. On her facebook looks like she is trying to sweep it under the rug. Some people NEEEED to know their limits. Be careful what you ask for and I don't think taking a historic song like a nations anthem and doing what she did to it...is a bucket list activity. I hope she has never judged another artists performance. She should have lipped synced it.
if you're going to sing the anthem in front of millions of people, at least you should practice. i sang the national anthem at 15 years old in front of a huge crowd and of course it's nerve racking, but i bet you she didn't even read the anthem over once before going up there. c'man. can't really feel bad for her, that was embarassing. i wonder if people clapped at the end of threw rotten tomatoes at her?
@KerWinklee Shouldn't she know the anthem being Canadian? Western NY residents know BOTH country's anthems as we sing both of them at sporting events. Heck, we even have the Canadian flag around the whole area in addition to ours. There is no excuse for this nervous or not.
Wow, I couldn't watch this. I can look at gore, animal cruelty, people breaking bones, people vomiting, but I just cant watch this. I had to watch it in pieces
Poor girl, Josie's awesome man. Guaranteed most of the assholes commenting on here wouldn't even get up in front of this many people, let alone not mess up the words.
@spanishknight she did get it right in the end. Nervousness can really mess with your mind. Like in a presentation when you jump straight to the conclusion.
@haidolio So true. *high five!!!* Whenever she comes on the radio we change channels. This just proved to me that I've been doing the right thing all this time. (changing the channel) She does not deserve to be listened to.
hahah, wow. you're right, she can't sing and the national anthem has always been a song that even if you can't sing, you can still make it sound somewhat decent (the ranges it can be sung in). what a fail. i heard her on the radio joking about it and people saying she was a good sport. give me a break. screws up anthem, gets recognition anyways.
That was just shameful. She grew up Canadian. She would have sung that song a thousand times be her school desk. She should have apologized for that mess, and said I was really nervous afterward. I might have had some forgiveness.
Why would anyone trust a DJ and a public speaker to SING a national anthem without hearing that person first is beyond my comprehension. I don't believe anybody ever listened to her before the performance, and if anybody listened,he must have been piss drunk.
gotta admit, anthems go downhill if you mess up the first phrase, when in your mind it makes sense but when it comes out of your mouth you suddenly say to yourself oh fuck
So now national anthems are allowed to be turned into joke fodder for lame radio stations. Somebody at the rink should have directed her to the dressing room about 30 seconds into it.
@toornto381 And why would this even be on her "bucket list"? She has a horrible singing voice. I'm a horrible singer as well but guess what... I ACCEPT THAT and don't have singing the national anthem in public on my wish list.
She's horrible on the radio. I switch stations until 2pm when Fearless Fred comes on. She tries so hard to be cool and it's just a total fail. She's not half as smart and interesting as she thinks she is. It's so obvious that 99% of her little anecdotes that she claims happens to her are completely made up.
After hearing about this train wreck on the Dean Blundell show I decided to listen to her show today to listen to her explanation. She actually said the reason she forgot the first line of the national anthem was because she was thinking about what note to start singing in. AHHHH ha ha ha ha ha!!!! That's the best she could come up with???.
Glad this is making the rounds again, you don't publicly make a joke of our National Anthem and just laugh about it. I hope this haunts her and whatever career she has for a very long time.
There should always be a sniper in the crowd for such occasions. Not only for everyone else's sake but for the singer as well - they'd probably welcome it.
the "i'm nervous" part has personally always been my favorite part of the canadian anthem
I ain't Canadian, but I'm pretty sure this ain't the words to it.
Where'd you get that idea?
This actually made me forget the national anthem
Bruh same
Lincoln I can’t believe I came here, and watched it again.......
@@shairaluna698 Lolz it's like a trainwreck, as horrible as it is you just cant look away.
I thought she was a nobody singing the anthem ... she's a radio host? Dear God. I weep for Canadian radio!

THUMBS UP IF YOUR SCHOOL RECITED THE ANTHEM IN ASSEMBLIES!!!
"It's my fucking list!"
She added "we stand on native land" which isn't the words but it is true at least.
Why some people in radio should STAY in radio. Out of sight, no audience, hiding.
Why no let someone with talent stroke this off their bucket list instead of her?
Oh right.
Celebrity = God.
She got one part right "We stand on Native land"
Josie needs to stick to what she's good at, depreciating the edge. I'd hate to see what else is on her bucket list.
The moment she said we after O Canada I knew she messed up. And I'm from the U.S
Although she tried to be creative to hide her ignorance, I find this absolutely disgusting, and disrespectful to the country too.
From her, not surprising in the least.
please josie, stay on cosmo tv and go away. Bad enough we have to deal with this airhead on the edge, barry taylor long gone but somehow this airhead sticks it out.
Bucket List: -screw anthem. -host unwatchable tv show. -play bad music on radio
That was pretty bad for someone who talks to thousands of people a day on the radio....
If she wasn't pretty and blonde no one would cut her any slack lol Shows you the lack of character/standards some people have.
Her voice was off from the start. Her pleading was awkward and cringe-worthy.

What was your point? That you're judgy and maybe slightly racist?. You're welcome.

Lol, "we stand on native land"
I don't get it. She doesn't even have a good voice. Why was she there?
She's a popular radio host in Canada; and a really good one :/
The worst part is when she tries to get people to sing along
Horrible....................no excuses for this...if you are that nervous you shouldn't be doing this!
I was at this game with my buddy and before she started singing I said, "I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't know the words"
How much was the crowd teying to help her by shouting the words, or how much were they booing or cringing audibly?
She should have done like anyone else who screwed up and just walk off in embarassment. What a sad excuse for a Canadian.
Imagine if this was at a Leafs vs Habs game. The only time those two would unify would be to boo this woman.
if you're going to sing the anthem in front of millions of people, at least you should practice.

is she canadian? i dont know the words
FutureLaugh Either way, if you are going to sing a national anthem you better know the words
102.1 needs to uhhhhh.................. let this one go. its putting a damper on the whole station.
They better be hiring at 102.1 the edge cause after that embarrassment I wouldn't keep her around.... WOW train wreck!
Poor girl, Josie's awesome man. Guaranteed most of the assholes commenting on here wouldn't even get up in front of this many people, let alone not mess up the words.
She is making fun of and disrespecting the Canadian anthem and the whole country itself by doing this.
As a canadian, I would be REALLY upset.
She should be ashamed of herself.
is her bucket list sucking at life ?
And she is laughing about it also. What a freaking joke.
thank you
aw that must be so embarrassing it probably would have been better if she just apologized and didnt try again since she cant sing anyhow
Dean grilled her this morning on the DBS, brutal.
@spanishknight
she did get it right in the end. Nervousness can really mess with your mind. Like in a presentation when you jump straight to the conclusion.
@haidolio So true. *high five!!!*

This just proved to me that I've been doing the right thing all this time. (changing the channel) She does not deserve to be listened to.
was she drunk?
ahahahahahahahahha LIKE LITTERALLY, RUINS OUR ANTHEM AND ALREADY RUINS THE BEST RADIO STATION FOR HALF THE DAY, WAY OVER YOUR HEAD WOMAN
hahah, wow. you're right, she can't sing and the national anthem has always been a song that even if you can't sing, you can still make it sound somewhat decent (the ranges it can be sung in). what a fail. i heard her on the radio joking about it and people saying she was a good sport. give me a break. screws up anthem, gets recognition anyways.
Ok she messed up. But to all those people saying she is a bad DJ. What radio station is it that you work for.
That was just shameful. She grew up Canadian. She would have sung that song a thousand times be her school desk. She should have apologized for that mess, and said I was really nervous afterward. I might have had some forgiveness.
no lies i have heard oh canada like so many times in school, but after a while you tend to forget, its weird, but i do remember it
Why would anyone trust a DJ and a public speaker to SING a national anthem without hearing that person first is beyond my comprehension. I don't believe anybody ever listened to her before the performance, and if anybody listened,he must have been piss drunk.
Game of Thrones said it best: .....SHAME!!!...........SHAME!!!.....
i could not bear watching the whole video.... i feel sorry for her now
gotta admit, anthems go downhill if you mess up the first phrase, when in your mind it makes sense but when it comes out of your mouth you suddenly say to yourself oh fuck
of course she would be blonde ;)
This really set the tone for what was to come in a brutal Rock loss.
how to insult a whole country in 2 mins (I’m Canadian)
Holy eff people. That was terrible.
Poor girl. She obviously knew the song, if she didn't, she wouldn't have gotten up there to sing it. She just blanked out.
Here's a general concept: only put things on your bucket list you can actually do. This is atrocious singing even if she *did* remember the words.
So now national anthems are allowed to be turned into joke fodder for lame radio stations. Somebody at the rink should have directed her to the dressing room about 30 seconds into it.
that was telecast on TSN.
Atleast she kept going that’s what matters
Reading the comments, I guess no one here has ever been nervous before. 😅
shud have atleast practiced what a damn shame. thats discusting
... she should be very, very embarrased of herself for messing up the National Anthem of Canada!!! this is NOT funny!!!
Canada 1, Josie Dye 0
is she high
she is not a professional, she got it together at the end. Kudos for having the damn balls to do it when half of ya commenting wouldnt.
jesus. i've been to a lacrosse game before (my science teacher was the captain). i don't know if it was broadcasted and i'm not being literal
its not like the vocals even made up for it
It's true, we do stand on Native land, First Nations that is XD
Oh my lol, just smh. I'm not even Canadian and know verses 1 & 2 in English and verse 1 en français. J'♡ Canada!
shes a great radio host
@SamanthaJoFaries agreed - you are awesome
Oh. My. Ears.
I echo the others saying they're embarrassed...I'm embarrased for her...that was truly terrible.
Josie-- Grossie
not only does she forget the words she mixes them up completely! What a disgrace. And an embarassement.
This is just unbearable.....
Frustrating to hear and watch! Ugh! Did you not even think to practice before going? Awful!
??? She's used to talking on the radio to millions.
The ONLY person allowed to F up any country's national anthem is Leslie Nielsen!!!!!!
@toornto381 And why would this even be on her "bucket list"? She has a horrible singing voice. I'm a horrible singer as well but guess what... I ACCEPT THAT and don't have singing the national anthem in public on my wish list.
0:28 all 36 million of us rolled our eyes.
'o canada, we stand on native land'
did the man say "she crosses in one of our FUCKING list here in our air Canada center"
in the beginning???
She's horrible on the radio. I switch stations until 2pm when Fearless Fred comes on. She tries so hard to be cool and it's just a total fail. josie dye: the one radio personality that turned out to be hotter than what i thought she was
Glad this is making the rounds again, you don't publicly make a joke of our National Anthem and just laugh about it. I hope this haunts her and whatever career she has for a very long time.
oh jesus.
WOW
I thought this country was Canada, not Canida... I've been saying it wrong all along.
There should always be a sniper in the crowd for such occasions. Not only for everyone else's sake but for the singer as well - they'd probably welcome it.
That is the funiest thing I have watched in a long time ! What an intro...I actually feel kindof sorry for her
HELP ME!
lol i totally got referred to here by them as well
josie you forgot some words i dont see what all the hate is for jeesh still love you and your top 20

there's a reason she's the face of cosmo tv...
My canadian ear and musician ear are bleeding like Niagara Falls now.
