I love the foliage personally, the fact that its hard to see in forest make sense and had a layer of difficulty.

I'm a big fan of the night changes myself; I usually have nights set to speed by as quickly as possible, I don't really like having to constantly tweak with the gamma just to see. It feels more realistic, too - it would be really nice if it got even darker in, say, heavily-wooded areas, and much more moon-bright in the open places. While the graphics aren't what I'm most interested in seeing when it comes to A:SA, this is an absolutely fantastic start so far. I can't wait to see how it continues to progress!
Yeah, people complaining about it beeing to bright at night and that they want it darker so they gamma up to have the same brightness it is now normal ingame... so stupid...

At 31:49 you gamma 3 and then go on to tell us the rest of the time "it's so bright!" Stop gamma'ing, the nights are lit by the moon and it's only dark'ish around 8-9 at night.
"Please optimise so people with 3080's can play too", I hope you know that the average gamer on steam has a 1060 (atleast a year or so ago) Other then that, it's a good watch. Keep it up.

I love this series, and recently found you as an Ark youtuber, and I must say you're quickly growing on me. ^.^ I like your commentary, and you seem more positive towards the ark than most others I've seen. Only thing I noticed is the longing for an update on Ark dinos, to which I wonder; What difference would you want? Dinos look the way they do, textures on their skin seem very detailed to me. c:

I think they want something like the concept art for ark 2 dinos that wildcard shared in some of the community crunches. But in my opinion they should just keep those for ark 2 to make it feel special.

do I change my max level to 150/180 the same way we did it on ASE with the difficulty override, or is it different now?
The map look way more precise
I feel like a better option as opposed to removing movement speed entirely would be to just make there be a movement speed cap (that you could toggle in settings)

So ASA isn’t optimized? Will wild card actually optimize the game this time or not? I’m highly doubting they actually will cause my laptop can’t handle regular ark and ark ascended.

I find it very distracting that the finest foliage and small rocks only renders about 10ft in front of you. Especially as you were running around on the mountain, all I could see is the wave of green magically appearing in front of you.
ASE had sliders for foliage density. Maybe need to turn that down? Or is there a setting to increase render distance?
Ik it sounds kinda weird but a lot of small things like that are actually much less noticeable when you actually play the game if that helps. (I haven’t played asa but I’ve thought similar things about games then played them)
Honestly, same, I really dislike this, if I can't have it be far enough to not notice it much I'd rather not ahve the small foliage at all

Are your monitor settings off or something? Its very apparent to me atleast when you are starving/thirsty.
Something I realized in ASA is that lighting is WAY better. In ASE, I had to turn DOWN gamma for on not get absolutely blinded and for night turn up gamma or import NVGs from a Gen1 world

Rampy, what are your thoughts on the ridiculous nitrado server limitations, seeing as you are partnered with g-portal and they will not be able to host ASA servers?
I don't like it one bit. I don't like exclusivity full stop, and I think Nitrado is handling the situation awfully.

yes, but it still puts dino levels at max 120, I had to go mofify the ini, but it's rather annoying

The game is kind of a buggy mess right now, and I can barely run the game with rtx 2080 but for the sake of optimism I love the more “normalized” lighting. I hated constantly fiddling with gamma so I wasn’t blinded by the sun or playing in pitch black. It’s nice to be able to keep the game at a consistent gamma 3 and be able to see during the day and night.

I don't understand what everyone has with the water physics especially how much fps gain you get from disabling it. It really is useless and not that great looking to be honest.
I know its unpopular opinion but for me gamma up was always cheating and against the spirit of a survival game
I can understand that view to be honest. For content purposes though I am glad it's a thing.
