- Not only is this my first ever blind playthrough of ARK, but it is my first ever step into the survival game genre.
In this playthrough, I set out to collect oil and make plans to upgrade the primitive technology that I am currently using.

For fertilizer, build a couple of compost bins then tame a phiomia (pig looking thing) and force feed them stimberries for the ultimate shit show
When you're raiding beaver dams, you can press O on the wood while it's still in the dam to Chuck it out, you don't need to take it into your own inventory first😊
You can go penguin clubbing with the kairuku for organic polymer, it works as polymer in crafting, the club is unfortunately the best tool to harvest it, but it's obviously much cheaper and easier than regular crafted polymer but it does expire
Jack became the instigator when you put him on aggressive.. they attack any and everything in close proximity when on aggressive. Richard is on attack your target so he will go after everything Jack goes after. To stop the carnage you have to take Jack off of aggressive or else he will start fights and everyone who isn't on passive or neutral will jump in to assist.

The oil is in the preserving bins for jerky.... a bin "burns" spark powder as fuel. Having just oil and spark powder in a bin is just burning spark powder. 1 cooked meat +1oil. In a fueld bin = 1 jerky. A bin produces one jerky at a time ... since you ha e two bins it makes sense to split your stacks between bins to double your production rate.
You’re doing good man! Don’t get overwhelmed, ark can do that to you. Just remember there’s no rush on anything when you’re on your own single player game. If you feel like just hanging around the base and getting everything in order, that’s a good way to wind down in the game. Then when you are ready to make your next move, leave everything you don’t need and only take what you do on the trip. For longer missions take sleeping bags with you in case you die. Leave with a solid plan. Build all the pieces you’d need for a trap and take them with you and don’t forget to just have fun. Sorry about the argy. Joanne won’t be forgotten! I bet this time you’ll get a better version of her though. Awesome video once again and thank you for your efforts!

i know you'd enjoy the industrial forge.. it is expensive like the industrial grill, but it's sooo much faster and worth the grind. i love the industrial forge and chemistry bench. my favourite things to get as soon as i can in ARK
One medical brew takes 20 tintoberries, 2 narcotics and one water.

You are correct.
The closer to the bird's weight cap, the slower it flies.
The slower it flies, the more stamina it uses, meaning more landings.
Same as walking or swimming dinos.

The best way to make fertilizer is to build a little hut. Tame a Boar by knocking it out. Found in the Arctic region. Once tamed place in Hut. feed Stimberrys, ie makes him he poop a lot.
Tame 2 dung beetles, tamed passively with spoiled meat, also put them in the hut with the Boar, turn on Dung collection, and put them on wander, inside the Hut, (to prevent them from escaping), the only thing you level on them is weight, they will collect the dung from the Boar and convert it into Fertilizer.
The Bonus with the Boar is he can quickly heal all the tames around him.

47:00 This is what I was talking about when I mentioned the respawn bug in single player. If you log out after harvesting stone, metal, crystal or obsidian, BEFORE it has respawned, then it won't respawn anymore, no matter how long you wait. That's why it's a good idea to dramatically speed up the respawn rate on single player.
So thats why my stuff doesn't respawn. Is that an Ini setting or just a game setting?
@@jenniferlizbeth1830 You can set the respawn rate in the game menu (or the ini if you know where to look). If I remember correctly, the lower the setting the quicker the respawn happens.

Now that you got electricity flowing, you should look into cryo pods & cryo fridge! A nice safe spot to store your dinos, without having to worry about them!

Congrats on going to the Arctic! You should invite thoes penguin to club Ark, you should use a club and hit them to get a tone of organic poly! It acts like polymer You can use to make better stuff. Also the mean fishing bird drop polymer to. Just don't eat it. If you have questions about being to far from home, then make sleeping bags to and a box, so if you die you have a spawn point near the spot. But on time use so make many sleeping bags!

Dung beetle for fertilizer, industrial cooker for medical brew, chemistry bench for narcotics. Then set up about 8 standard forges to smelt up metal for the industrial forge. That's kinda the order I've always done it but anyways, great video enjoy grinding for resources.

To destroy a beaver dam you can drop all the stuff inside their inventory without taking them and encumber yourself. Loving this series! Love from italy!

The compost needs 3 of the same size poop for fertilizer. Also, the penguins are good for organic polymer, which you'll need to craft and repair ghillie armor. A wooden club is best way to harvest them early game. Plus, it's fun😂.
So, for the beaver dams... hold the o button while hovering your cursor over the wood, which will drop it all on the ground, Then hit the take all button for whats left in the dam. Much faster process.
Also if you build structures near metal nodes, the nodes will not respawn. You essentially spawn blocked your metal, obsidian, crystal spot. (My tablet keeps changing my text, so I keep having to edit it.)

Perhaps add an outhouse to your building. Remember the plumbing and remember to only sh't once before removing the fertilizer. That way you have indefinite fertilizer
Mark, get grappling hooks. You put them on your crossbow and then you can become spiderman and shoot yourself up to high places. You can also latch on to your fliers and pull yourself up.
Harvesting penguins is your best source of polymer. That bird you saw on the first ice flow is a pelagornis. You can tame it with a bola, tranq arrows, and fish (bring some fish with you at the start). Pelagornis gets bonuses on the amount of organic polymer it harvests.from the penguins.
And unlike other birds they can land on water without dumping you off, and actually have an excellent swim speed. Handy around those ice floes. Also, terrible as it may be, baby's are natures primary targets for a reason.
Across the river from the volcano in the redwoods is a small mountain with lots of metal, crystal, and argys (birds). You can use your weapons from the back of a thylacolio so it's almost a portable taming pen.
Thanks, I just have to get there. I will be taking my current tree kitty out to level up and then will try sprinting to that small mountain to have a look, as I am now is desperate need of another argy workhorse. Will try it, thank you :)
Be aware that whistling neutral, passive etc affects ALL tames in the whistling distance. That causes you regular problems like all dinos suddenly going on a fight and it will become more problematic with more dinos around.
To avoid that, you'll have to define groups so that your whistling only affects the group you want.
Again, when I'm in my base, I pick the group with a caged beetle in it so that if I make a mistake it won't have serious consequences. When exploring, I select no group so I can get quick responses from the dinos I took with me.
Beetle and slugs are not yet something easy for you to find/tame, you could use a caged dodo.
Learning how to use taming groups is incredibly helpful. It can also be tricky because you have to then always remember that there are groups. You will need to keep in mind which group your whistle is being directed at. It will be vital though for controlling your tames as you get so many.
Industrial cooker, seen people recommend it, but not point out that it gets connected directly to water. That's why you don't have to mess with skins or bottles when you have one. Also like the grill, it's much much faster, and HUGE. Yeah, all those stone water reservoirs can be deleted when you are tapped directly to a water source. You'll want one up on the mountain in your foundry, I bet tho. 😉 A reservoir and a tap. The reservoirs collect rain water, so they don't always have water in them.

Oi mate, when taming I find it best to put your tames on passive so they don't attack or get in the way of what you're doing. Also allows the follow command to actually work as they won't disengage battle on any other setting other than passive.

Edit*: when you were about to die like taming the Thyla you should have eaten your cooked meat and drank your water. Cooked meat to recover health and you were basically dehydrated as well.
ALSO, you need to click the AGGRESSIVE SETTING to bring up the rest of the wheel. Ark can be confusing at first because the settings can get buried in layers of clicks.

The painting is so fun in this game. You can create dozens of color variations by adding any berry, charcoal, water skins with water for basic colors. Then for more vibrant variations add spark powder or gunpowder with everything else listed. You can paint saddles, armor, all your melee and firearms and more. Also just started the video but you can carry your ankylo with the argentavis over metal and oil rocks and he’ll automatically hit them. The anky might have to be on wandering while you hold him. That way the anky will still have the weight reduction for metal and it won’t change while you fly the argy. Hope that wasn’t too much love watching you starting to really progress!

no need to travell the entire map for oil and metal. there are loads arround your base in water. i would suggest taming a Dunkleosteus (looks like an armored shark). that is the best metal and oil harvester on the island map. ankylo is better than hand harvesting for sure, but dunkleo is better by a long shot and you wont need to travell as far. people give you good advice but they usually dont take your base location and your server settings in considoration. great video again! cant wait for the next one.
Low level or not it always sucks loosing a tame. That said Thylas are great, really good fighters and can even climb walls and the big red woods by jumping at them while you're ridding. Oh and to remove paint you need soap that you can craft in the cooking pot. Loving these episodes!

The Kairuku you saw in the snow (aka penguins) you kill then harvest with a club and it gives you polymer, it expires unlike crafted polymer but it is very useful.
The reason no one listened to your whistles might be because you accidentally selected a tame group.
When you are in your inventory, there are icons in the top middle.
There are two paws. Click the left one to set tame groups and use your num pad to select them.
This helps you be more specific about who should listen to your whistles.
To add a creature (or even all creatures of a certain type) to a class, you go through their radial menu

I recommend getting a large sloth looking dinosaur called a megatheriu, it can get a ton of chitin when hitting bugs and also gets a powerful attack boost when it kills a bug. its good for cave runs as long as you have a cryopod

The default drop key is "O" .... you can drop directly from any inventory.... you dont have to pick up the wood out of a beaver damn before you can drop it.... you can drop directly from the damn.
Narco berries work on ALL animals
Joanne you will be missed. Tip for next time when an argy takes a nibble on a corpse it’s head will glow green and it will have health regeneration for a short period of time
Use your anky (metal collector) for oil, it will farm more than your pick and you won't need to repair it.

@@zedexgamingchannel Unless you want your bird to carry the anky up north to get the oil, you can use a cryo pod to carry the anky (check the engram list). Think of it as a dino in your pocket :). The dino you are carrying in a cryo pod will drop everything in their inventory so your bird will have to carry the oil after metal 1 harvests it.
good tip if he lived close to there. but why send him on the other side of the map for oil when he has 10x moore underwater next to his base. also dunkleo is atleast 3x more efficient with metal and oil then ankylo is

@@Wild5oul oh my bad. Forgot he lives there now. Still, the ocean is a valid choice on the island map. There is alot more of certain materials like metal, oil,polymer and pearls in water than on the surface.
white paint is the undo to default. that's charcoal & white berries in the pot with water.
And a little tip for argy taming ur Pteranodons fit through normal stone double door frames an argy cant thus my trap foudations dinousour gate at front double door frames all around with a ceiling bate it in with ur Pteranodon fly through the double door frames and shut the gate, if u find a nice safe place like around where u got oil u can bate them from however far and do multiple just remember to put ur Pteranodon on passive so it doesn't attack ur tame and when u have tamed one make sure its back at base safe before u tame the second it would just get in the way lol u will have cryo pods for that one day

I've actually found it helpful to Unassign the Aggressive whistle keybind. I never want my tames on aggressive, it's too dangerous. Shocking that Jack, and Richard, didn't get killed. Of course, your accidents are usually setting on the wheel, but its worth mentioning. 😇
I'm sure one day I will find out that the Aggressive setting is not the way to go. But I looked out toward my semi-peaceful area and all I saw was blood and death lol. I have never felt so powerless in a game, ever. But not in a bad way. I was both surprised at what my tames could do and at the same time needed a minute to process the carnage lol I had gone from them picking berries and wood, to that! In an instant.

There are 10 whistle groups you can create... a spastic or wild numpad or default key press can put you INTO that group and make your whistles ineffective on anything except that group.
Don't know if this has been mentioned but you can harvest Polymer from Penguins, use a club on the bodies to get the most. Need to one shot Kill them or the ones that are around you will run away. Its Organic Polymer but it works exactly the same as regular Polymer. Also the Anky gets the most oil, pick it up with the Argy, then fly close to the deposit and the Anky will auto harvest the oil, Metal etc. This also works with the Doedicurus.

@@zedexgamingchannel Your Dinos dont listen to your commands because you have accidentally switched to a tame order group. Its a way to sort tames into different groups for easier controll. You switch between them using the number pad keys. Num pad 0 is no group. The Z key is probably how you switched without realizing it.
You cant use Thylas in a boss fight as they are blocked from entering the boss arena. When riding a Thyla you can shoot from the back, and jump at a wall holding space bar down you can climb.
Those penguins are the best source of organic polymer which can sub for any polymer engrams. Tame a peligornis big pelican that scared you and kill the baby penguins for massive amounts of polymer.
Thylas are one of the best tames to have. Have fun with it.
Bring extra narcotics. Their torpor drops quickly like beavers and therizenos
Make a "magnifying glass" so you can see how much torpor you are doing, need to be close to see.
Make a assault rifle and see which you like better between that and the shotgun and how much it takes to make ammo. Then also make a "fabricated sniper rifle" if you like single fire.
Compost bin needs 3 poops to make 1 fertilizer, if your plots run out of fertilizer then the seed dies. Its good to have a tank because if a random Dino gets angry and smashes one of your water pipes from the river then your crops will die and you have to restart them.
Keep your "metal spear" on you because it's cheap and easy to kill small dinos with.

only wepon worth doing is a sword and a pump shotgun ;) and ofc the longneck for taming or long range sniping
@techn0oO sword and shield are really nice combo to have for caves and some bosses. But I like upping my melee stat and having a spear on me for the knock back feature without having the carry weight of the shield everywhere i go. Anytime I'm exploring or taming i have a spear and a shotgun. The sniper rifle has niche uses to it for pve but much rather have my long neck rifle with the best darts I have access to at that moment. Also all of this depends on what blueprints I'm able to make with mindwipe as well.
@@FoCoDRock i would only use shield in a pvp situation. I use sword for the damadge. Has atleast 2-3 times the damage and 2 times the hit rate. Its a bit shorter than the pike, but is way more precise. expecialy against flyers like Ichty or the bats in caves.
@techn0oO ill use sword and shield early game trying to run a cave, if you pull to many things at once then it's nice to have the shield while your defending off 3 raptors, 2 arthos, 3 bets. I'd have to double check but I don't think sword does triple damage, maybe twice yes, but for the situation where he died in this episode either a spear for the knock back while walking backwards or sword and shield he probably could have survived those troodons. Different ways to do things though, depends on your plan of attack and what you set yourself up for. That's the cool thing with ark, like giga taming, you can make a trap, or use a platform saddle on a quetz, or grapple yourself to a cliff wall. Some of those things depend on what you have available to yourself as well though.
@@FoCoDRock a primitive sword usually does more damadge than most mastercraft pikes ;) unless you get really lucky with blueprints. I agree on the troodon situation with you thou. But i do think fortitude would help aswell with that atleast a bit because he would not fall asleep from poison that fast

You need to make some cryoballs and I don’t mean cold nuts!!
A 500 hp argy isn’t going to last very long fighting by itself in bad areas if you were to die or something. A wild high level dino will have a lot better stats after being tamed
Argies are tough because you can get them about 10,000 health. Not because they have high melee.
When the crop plot runs out of fertilizer the plant dies and you have to reseed. If you never run out of fertilizer you never have to reseed. After time a plant will produce ONE stack of berries .... which then begin to spoil......
You may have to default you key bind changes if the whistles aren't working. Or make sure you didnt accidentally click the numpad, bc that pad is for group whistles. If your in group whistles, all the animals not assigned will ignore whistles. The group whistles are handy for controlling a pack of rexes during boss fights.
Your free ranged frog will make cementing paste when it kills bugs, if you choose to saddle and ride it around. There are lots of bugs in caves. There is a cave near you at the foot of the volcano on its south east side.

😂 I just now saw the part where you have the slaughterhouse tree Kitty. Now you see why it's a very loved tame for rideing and defense. And if you boost the stamina, you could go up a wall like spider Kitty. Mountain wall rock cliffs. Is slaughterhouse house spider Kitty.
If you intent to paint a lot, there's a paint pistol that will make it easier and faster.
If you are going for an new Argent (or any tame really). Put a stack of Rare Flowers on your hot bar then eat one when near it. This will cause the creature (or any in the area) to follow you aggressively for the duration of the flower. You can consume more over time to keep it in persuit.Handy for luring things into traps.
Use carefully, other things will pursue you aggressively also 😅
when ever you plan to fly carry parachutes put them in the easiest button for you to use in your hot bar

Thoroughly enjoying your ARK journey!! Very fun to watch. You should consider crafting a rifle and some Tranc darts for easier taming :) Also, when you access your tames circular action menu, the menu options that are blue (and not white) are clickable so you can go another level deeper to more options to change settings like the "stance" option.
Hi. You still have problems using wheel menu for changing dino behavior. If you are close to your tame you can see what behavior he has right now. If your dino is on neutral on wheel menu you will only have option "Behavior: Neutral". Pushing it is not changing behavior to neutral (it is neutral right now) but from neutral. You should choose this option, push left mouse button but keep button pushed to see new wheel menu with all behavior options. A few times you change your dinos behavior to agressive and this was a problem. Try it in your base.
I'm using pteranodons almost always on passive, argies mostly on neutral but when I'm going for drops I have my argy on passive too because I don't want him to fly back to fight when something attacking him while I'm taking the drop. Dinos for collecting resources like doedicurus and ankylo - always on neutral to let them defend themselve. I'm not using agressive option.
The penguins are for Polymer. we can breed them in a farm for their poly. Its sounds cruel, but their are a few farm tames that are used this way.
Watching you made me start playing again, I started the grind for the industrial forge yesterday, all I’ve got left is to breed penguins for polymer, if you go through with the grind, it is 100% worth it lol

haha i am facing the same temptation. stopped playing ark after more then 10 years and now im getting the urge to play it again. atleast aberration which is by far my favourite map. all the other ones are too easy
Oh my gosh so many things in this video i wish you knew better lol definitely should have grabbed that ascended sickle BP such an OP tool that was gifted to you, btw when you whistle all the tames in the area will set to what you whistled unless you set them individually to ignore group whistle. I highly recommend you do not set your tames on aggressive seeing as your low level tames have a very good chance of getting themselves killed. Also make the industrial Cooker it is infinitely better than the cooking pot, wont need to fumble about with water jars, just use the pot to make custom recipes once you level up in crafting, also your fortitude will keep your temperature more stable and Torpidity from skyrocketing when the troodons attack, lots more i could say but much is learning curve. Keep it going Sorry about your Argy but tbh it wasnt that great and the name was a reminder of my Evil Stepmother so you can do better now! Good luck to fix the lights make soap or make white or silver coloring and repaint them make more colors tbh better in the industrial cooker for making dye place all the kind of berries in it then place one stack of Charcoal, then Sparkpowder then gunpowder individually so you can see the different color variations they make in the cooker remove the other stacks before you place the new ones in just so you know what makes what. You can also look all the recipes up in dododex i recommend the App version its like the ARK bible really Good luck Zed!

The industrial cooker generates lots of heat. Where you are on the map, it's probably better outside.

and yeah, the bleeding on the thylacoleo is pretty broken and he attacks in a wide arc. it fits into every cave and can climb walls and jump really good. but that does not mean you can conquer every cave easy now or that he is unstoppable: i thought you lost him the moment i seen the ticklebird but it was luckily low lvl. and i lost plenty due to fall damage (i mentioned it can jump really good) so be careful.
the issue with the whistling is probably due to whistle groups.
you have a button to call all groups or Numpad to call different ones. you probably pressed a numpad key.
you can also tell a dino to ignore your whistles if thats not it, check the settings.
you will see that the caves are a milestone. a milestone for 1 small dino or a group of them and you. because big dino's won't fit into the cave. its hard work but if you are prepared enough its all doable.
but the bossfights in the tower: you need to coordinate 2 or more groups of dinos. the first fight is "pretty easy" if you do it with high level dino's. T-Rex or Tek-Rex are usually the way to go with 1 healing and 1 damage buffing dino. but an army of ticklebirds works wonders too.
the 2nd and 3rd fight are gonna be the real deal, if you can't coordinate 2 or more groups of dino's seperately your dino's will either fall to their death or burn in lava or both.

Useful tip : you can open/close doors while mounted. You can do it in first person as well as second person. Needs a little bit of training but it's very useful.
Try this : ride Richard then when getting close to high walls or big trees or high rocks press and maintain the jump key ;-)

Let me plz HELP you in 4 things. Greenhouse 1st. Fertiliser - tame plz a phiomia Pig(tapir). After tamed force feed stimberry- endless poop you will get instantly. 2nd - it is funny but it will be a problem soon. You made your birds manually aggressive - the dino inventory wheel has multiple layers on each other- under behavior and for example attack target there u get the wheel of all the behavior. Clicking it makes go 1 lvl deeper and there choose which you want so click again(under neutral is aggressive so the already neutral you turn aggressive with double click- just on option. There is no off- don't click aggressive if you don't want them be aggressive(but you usually do and don't know why are they mental:)*** 3rd argentavis weight reduction adds together with anky if hold in arms. Nearly all points on both into weight gives you a good combo, more weight more metal to fly with(50% on argy at the 85%on anky scaled up on top of it). 4th Dead Penguins give organic polymer-most with club or chainsaw - Frog is the best for cementing paste- every bug killed gives a lot cement into its inventory. Beaver dam use o as usual to throw out items don't have to transfer all on you. Extra tipp - at inventory menu at engrams top right side corner of window you can see a lot icons- they can be activated by clicking on them- these are the engrams of the other maps. That way you can learn more engrams. (if settings let them without traveling 1x onto those maps) worth a shot. And thyla puma has bleed damage it is a constant number dependig on enemy health pool, so a lvl 5 thylo does nearly the same damage as a lvl 500. All points on Health plz. Makes not much sense putting points on melee. GG nice upgrades on everything!
Something else you may not have noticed is that by whistling follow me (all) while on a mount, the dinos will follow your mount instead of following you ! This may lead to some "accidents" so be careful ;-)
Make an Industrial forge and you can mass produce metal and charcoal by putting wood in it.
You can give numbers to lights, doors, gates, and windows to set them on or off with a remote keypad. Try a different color on each light and choose with the keypad.
Jack was on aggressive witch means he will attack anything then ur other dinos on neutral were defending ur tribe never have aggressive on really unless boss fight but i personally don't even then and rip Joanne but focus on getting a good pair then you never have to fear you will just breed another as long as u have the pair at home good luck bro enjoying watching u learn
you have to drop all the wood out of the beaver dam in order to destroy it. it won't respawn another. O key is quick drop, no nead to flood inventory with wood. T is quick transfer
