The way "Sinatra" sings "…and there's someone in my head, but it's not me" at 25:46 makes its sound like a typical 40s/50s light-hearted romantic lyric !
I feel inclined to agree this is more 40s sounding. YES, early 50s sounded more traditional than the later 50s, but early 50s wasn't big band focused. It was mainly a singer like Sinatra or Teresa Brewer or whoever on center stage with a jazz-esque instrumentation. Big band by and large faded out by the mid 40s around the end of WWII due to the musicians strike and changing interests towards vocal focused songs. The swing rhythm of some of these also makes it more 40s than 50s in my opinion. Still great regardless
@jessejames5229 The original Fly Me to the Moon song, yes, from the 50s, but softer and by a singer named Kaye Ballard. ua-cam.com/video/vpC_N19UlIk/v-deo.htmlsi=_BwVfV5vQe6wJZYt As for Sinatra's 1963 version, it does have that swing sound, but notably, swing from the 50s and 60s sounded quite different from the early-mid 40s swing. Offhand based on my judgement, a good number of those newer swing songs sound more bombastic with horns and just more lively in general. Ie. Just One of Those Things covered by Nat King Cole (58), Fly Me to the Moon covered by Frank Sinatra (63), etc, while other swing songs of the same time sound a bit more laid back, they're still not the same style you get with older swing. That's the best I can put it into words, but once you listen to 40s swing a lot and then the later swing, you get more of an ear for it. (The only exception being covers of classic songs by 40s artists during the 50s and 60s done in a 40s style. That *can* be a challenge to place historically, even to the most well versed music lovers, but the sound quality and maybe some of the instrumentation *may* give it away.) Know this was long, so I'm sorry 😅
It's crazy to think that this type of music has only been around for 20 years. It's like we compare the type of music from 2000 (which hasn't changed much).
I'm picturing a 1947 jazz fan coming home from work, turning on the radio, starting to peruse the newspaper... and doing repeated double takes at the lyrics about rabbits, do-goody bullshit, and the lunatic on the grass.
I'm confounded that all this AI generated big band swing music, circa 1935-1945 l, is being erroneously categorized as "fifties" music. Obviously the prompt you're giving your AI, most likely Suno, has nothing to do with 50s music so why not either switch it to outputting actual 50s renditions or switch your titles to more accurately reflect the music style time period. I'm sure the younger audience can't tell, and maybe you can't either, but most mature listeners certainly can.
You're confused how music actually works it's not like there is this magic point of demarcation called decades where music always and completely changes at each turn of the decade styles from previous decades make it to the following decade or more; for example Sinatra had hit albums into the 60s.
@@jessejames5229 With that logic they might just as well titled this "as if recorded in 2024" as obviously this genre (any genre, really) is still being produced.
