I train with a few police officers. One of them told me " I know you don't get to use this in real life, but when you do, you'll realize how magical jiujitsu is against an untrained person"
Beautiful fake into a single leg takedown, he even got the kimura after and twisted it to get the suspect in perfect position for the cuffs. Absolute Chad cop, we need more like him
Beautiful technique! And no one had to get shot...calm & collected. Like a good officer should be. Police Officers who take BJJ, become such good people. How do I know? I've rolled with them.

That perp is lucky that the cop knew BJJ... He could have lost his life to a cop without the confidence to control the situation without using lethal force or being tazed at the least. It should be a requirement for every officer to be a blue belt or better IMO
I prefer to train at Rener’s academy. I have extreme social anxiety and Gracie Jiu Jitsu is safe. It’s hard to find the right gym fit as a person with a disability. I follow Gracie’s virtually. I was detained in a similar way and the cop drove me up the wall and twisted my shoulder. I had a mental health episode and was hospitalized for a month. I was on mood stabilizer and it’s hard to train on meds and with an impinged shoulder. I’ve been off meds for a year now and I am healthier and more able to so I train jits at home.
How is it not a risk to use BJJ while you’re with a holstered gun? Just seems too dangerous as it could be grabbed by the suspect or a cooperator with much more ease if you make a single mistake

We also need to teach respect for authority, and no, that's not a one-sided deal. When you teach that to everyone, then the police have that respect the civilians too.
Absolute legend. Not an inch of force above the necessary threshold. Lives saved, crisys averted. Perfect mindset.

it’s in the Tao of JKD by Bruce Lee. In his notes, he called it jab and go (double leg).

Well done officer “Z” …..your service to the community is greatly appreciated ❤
A cop that isn't shooting because of an acorn or blindly shooting into a building. Shocking.

Not great if there's more than one opponent since you'll be on the floor getting kicked

Another reason Peace Officers shouldn't have weapons. When you introduce a weapon to a fight, it's now anyone's weapon.
