i was today years old when i found out it’s dak’s vocals for this song. takes sexual misconduct allegations to bring you back to what you thought you loved oop
It’s not what you thought you loved. You may have very well loved the music, and still can. Enjoying the music doesn’t mean you love the people or condone their actions. It’s horrible, but everyone from 69 and X, to Queen, Stephen Tyler, Drake, and the Chili Peppers all have underage or sexual assault allegations against them, but they’re still listened to today. Yes the industry needs to change, because I believe fame changes people to think they can do whatever they want, which is dirty human nature at its worst. It’s disappointing that the buttertones reputation is destroyed from this, but it shouldn’t erase the music or the art that came from it. Imagine if we did that to Queen, Aerosmith or the chili peppers for the equally crappy and creepy things they did. Also, it’s important to remember that while these allegation are certainly worth looking into, they aren’t yet proven in the eyes of the law. (I personally believe Sean did it because of the dm screenshots and stuff), but the allegation against the other members I haven’t seen proof for, and I refuse to destroy someone’s reputation without proof. But no matter what, that doesn’t erase the music...
ofc not. their music got me through some stuff, can’t pretend it didn’t. but this is definitely an eye opener personally to not be so quick to heavily stan artists and to just leave my support for their art as it is without necessarily liking them as individuals...bc proof or not, actions like that from anyone are inexcusable. there’s not always gonna be proof which is why it’s hard to come forward. but yes the music definitely still has a place in my heart

When Richard starts playing his guitar in the beginning, I think of Rufus Wainwright's version of "Hallelujah"
Awesome!

Does anyone know why Dakota left?
Ruben Parral to dedicate all his attention to his clothing brand, Tarantula Vintage.
Probably because he knew the buttertones were going down sooner or later....and they have gone down
