The reason Mitsubishi decided to go with a 5 speed rather than a 6 speed is because the car was designed for Group N Class R4 Rally, and on track and on rally you do not need more than 5 gears as this is not a top speed style car, and with a 5 speed you can make the gears beefier and stronger than on a 6 speed, all while having less rotational mass. The Evo X 5 speed is far stronger and more durable than the Evo 9 5 speed, and we all know the weakness of the Evo 9 6 speeds. This car is the last pure breed road legal rally car, hence why they did a 5 speed and sacrificed fuel economy to always be in the power band and have rally style reliability.
Came here to say just this. However, as a former owner of an Evo 8, I did often wish I had that 6th gear lol

For back roads and twisties or specially the dirt a five-speed has longer gears and requires you to shift less often . And you don't need to be going ridiculously high speeds anyway . People put dog boxes and make it so they can flat shift with these things because it takes so long to shift that they end up losing their boost . So the longer you can stay in one gear without having to go to the next the better .

It’s your guys build so it’s mildly understandable but Throtl on the calipers, intercooler, windshield, both side doors, both side little windows, on the engine cover, and the wheels is definitely overkill. So other than it being a complete billboard it’s nice.

Throttle response? You left the squishy OE upper intercooler cooler pipe, a hard UICP is one of the first mods every owner should do. And there are so many brand options for that.
Probably my favorite build yet, have to call it The Storm Trooper with that front bumper, just looks epic, awesome job on this build.

This Evo and the Eclipse are my favorite rides you guys have done. It's too bad Mitsubishi abandoned fun cars like these.
You guys killed it with this car. Looks amazing, and a bunch of tasteful mods to step it up several notches. I used to own a white 2013 Evo x just like this (sold it for a family vehicle); I miss it every day, so really appreciate the chance to win it.

I hade a dream a couple of weeks ago that I got a place as a Trainee in your shop and my build to learn everything on was a AE86 but instead of decal from "Intital D" it have exacty the decal you put on this car! 😲

You guys killed it, the Evo looks awesome! If I had to critique I would’ve liked to see color on the calipers. Either Throtl orange, flora yellow, Cusco blue or just red. But other than that it’s incredible great job guys!
I never was a big fan of the Evo 10, more of a 8 fan. But what you guys did mod-wise to it has got me thinking about a 10. Would love to take this home! Good luck to whoever gets this. Its a very nice car!
Love the evo x build and me personally owning one I can appreciate this build series and I agree with them dropping the ball with them not putting a 6 speed in it !! But I entered to win hopefully whoever gets it takes care of it !! 🤙🏽👌🏽
Makes me miss my Ralliart with Tein coilovers, HKS Legamax exhaust, UR HF cat, and HKS downpipe. I put 40,000+ kms on it with a Gates 93 Octane tune and never had any issues before it was wrecked in a crash. The Gates tune was night and day for throttle responsiveness and acceleration.
You guys are awesome. Throtl all the way. I too have a Mitsubishi Lancer Ex that I wish to modify and tune it up.

Great looking car guys, well done. I would of loved to see the interior get some more love. The dash looks extremely dated, would of been awesome to see a new steering wheel, screen and sound upgrade and whatever else was able to be changed. A carbon fiber hood scoop would of really made the hood as well.

As a college student trying to pay off student loans, that $50k cash alternative is really enticing. But as a car enthusiast, $20k and a modified Evo X sounds like such a fun experience. Living on the East Coast, I would fly out and drive the car all the way back to Maryland.
Always love the content. I’m a fan of body kits ( grew up in that time ). For me the oem nose with a solid lip would be the move. Regardless you guys killed it yet again!

At the end during the drive there was some weird metallic grinding sort of noise. Love that shifter though. Expensive but worth it.

Mickey does his sticker applications the same way that finishing carpenters have to do finishing . If you try to use a tape measure or a laser level it just looks wrong most of the time , you have to go by eye 👁️

I believe the manual version is a five speed and the dual clutch is the 6 speed.

Awesome looking build. But there's one thing I really would love to fix, and that's the steering wheel. I know the guys from goonzquad use a company, can't remember the name, where they send the oem wheel, then the company will refurbish it with either new leather or alcantara, and they can fit carbon pieces instead of the plastic ones. Best part is they keep all the oem buttons and the like. You guys should think about doing the same for the next build

Nice engine bay, though may I ask how come you guys didn’t mod the uicp? Why is it still using stock uicp? Same with bov. It looks like it is still on stock. Unless it has to do with carb law in cali, though I was told all intake including aem is considered illegal regardless.

Only thing i would say is i wish they would test the mods like take it to the track they always say the mods they did really help the car but they never drive (or we never see them really drive the car to its limit)
