I struggle with masculine cards, but this one is awesome! I love that you keep it real. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, and keeping it in the video helps us all to see and understand that it doesn’t have to be perfect. Thanks, Kelly!
Beautiful cards! I know when I start rushing, everything goes wrong. Then I start sweating and cussing and I have to walk away. Yay for you for staying calm and just fixing it. That's why you have hundreds of cards and I have maybe 20...and that's over a 3 year period...lol!
Both cards ended up looking so beautiful! When you were putting glue on that gold word "peace" I kept saying Kelly don't do it right over the card base! Lol! I kept expecting one more folly! I've so been there. This was fun to watch.
Sorry that you were having a rough time making that green card, but it is nice to know that our card making rockstars also have bad days/mistakes that they find a way to work around. Thanks for keeping it real, Kelly! 😀
This is so me when I am trying to make a card on a time crunch! It seems like the simplest things go wrong, on repeat. Thanks for keeping it real with us and showing us how to fix these boo-boos.
Love these cards. I always need more ideas for masculine cards so was very glad to see this. I have the same trouble with embossing powder sticking to die cut pieces where the tape was. I’ve finally learned to rub over it first with an adhesive remover or sand eraser. It helps a lot. But some cards just don’t want to cooperate no matter what. LOL
Lol! I like the masculine one better than the one with the flowers. It has a richness to it that I like. To each his own, eh? I think it’s because I’m partial to that tone on tone look, and the white flowers created more contrast against the blue. Both are very pretty.......and I’m SO glad I’m not the only one that has problems with embossing powder! I’ve had more failures than I can count when it comes to the smaller sentiments. Sighhhh!
Love these cards, wonderful coloring as usual, Kelly!!! The dot fix looks great and I appreciate you sharing your time and creativity, blessings & hugs!!!
Love the way they both turned out. Thanks for your tips and tricks on how to fix issues. I tend to go for the messy look intentionally a LOT just because I can never get anything “perfect” so it’s easier to start off with it on purpose. LOL
I think their Breathtaking Beautiful Kelly. I want to thank you so much for rolling through your whole video to show me what to do and how to fix it because I would not have known what to do! With me just learning how to do all of this like I said in the video before this, I'm just starting out on coloring my first card. I couldn't of threw it all away, because I went gun ho and got everything it takes to do cards! I was thinking oh yeah this is really easy "WRONG" I'm so glad I found you, because your real down to earth! Thank You so much for teaching me all the do's and don'ts in this tutorial. Thank You for showing me that even the Pro's have a bad day and still learning! Thank You
I can’t thank you enough for keeping all this real. I’m a newbie and this is an everyday reality for me and i have wanted to throw in the towel so many times but seeing this helps me learn and understand it’s just all part of it ! Thank you , thank you , thank you ! Watching videos where everything just goes perfect isn’t helpful for those of us learning . We need to know how to fix it when it does . You are simply the best 💕
Lisa Probyn, Remember to have FUN! Look at a card as a puzzle to be solved, but with fun. Some things will work, some-not so much, but then you have the opportunity to take another road and see what you can do with something that wasn't working. :D
Lisa I'm sure you do fine and don't give up, we all have times that we put too much pressure on ourselves or expect something to be perfect, focus on the mistakes Etc but just keep telling yourself to not do that. As the other lady said have fun with it. Maybe one time just sit down and play don't even try to make a card just try things you've been wanting to try or experiment with some things and see what you come up with. More often than you think we all have times that things don't work or we don't like it but short of dropping the ink pad in the middle of your entire piece must everything else can be fixed one way or another. And don't expect your stuff to be the same as somebody that's been doing it for 20 years because their stuff didn't look like it does now 20 years ago. Have fun and cut yourself some slack. Hugs!!
I didn't even see your comment until after I wrote mine Lisa, Hi I'm a newbie also. I could of just read yours and said dido and add a little bit more to mine. Kelly is pretty awesome isn't she : )
Gorgeous! I had the same problem last week with embossing powder sticking to everything, I was going to start again but Kelly was on my shoulder saying don’t throw it away, fix it. So after a few more mistakes I finally fixed it and it looks good, no one will ever know.
Gorgeous cards Kelly, I love them both. Thank you for the tips, unfortunattely I had already found out the hard way that left over glue from the purple tape and embossing powder doesn't go so well. Have a very nice weekend.
I loved your thumbs up at the end. Just made me giggle. I kind of wonder if cardstock might be an issue with embossing. A couple of years ago, I did ornaments with the Twelve Days set from Essentials by Ellen. I wanted a chalkboard effect, so I did white embossing on black cardstock. The embossing powder stuck EVERYWHERE, no matter how much cornstarch I put down! (I use expired cornstarch in the embossing powder bags I sew for myself. And no, I don't think it goes bad for this purpose.) I probably spent more time with my dry paintbrush & craft pick cleaning up than I spent on any other part of the project. I did make it work, but it was a time-consuming mess, believe me. I have used that particular powder since (I think it is one by Ranger), and had used it before, all without issue. So who knows? At any rate.... I do like how these cards came out, Kelly! I'm sorry you had so much trouble with them, but I think the end result was worth it. And thank you for the tip about warming up Nuvo drops. I never knew that, but in thinking about it, it does make sense. I'll have to remember that, especially now that it's winter and we set our thermostat to no more than 68 degrees to save on our electricity bill. (There are always sweaters, & I do have a small heater in the craft room to supplement.) I hope you are doing well. Take care, & have a wonderfully marvelous day! :)
You're supposed to "warm up" your Nuvo drops? I had NO idea! I just replaced a bottle of copper Nuvo drops because I thought it had dried out a little, but was then surprised that the replacement bottle wasn't much better. NOW I get it! LOL! Thanks for this and ALL of your tips. Love both cards, and I agree with that little added touch of black to the ink blending. It just makes the other colors pop.
They both turned out great in the end. I’ve so had days like this when creating. When I saw the cover photo of these cards I thought these might be my favorite cards Kelli has made!
Whoo - that’s when I walk away and come back later. Somehow when things go wrong, they just keep going wrong. Glad you were able to recover. Pretty impressive that you were able to make 2 cards before work!
I love that you are one of us and give us permission to be a hot mess some days! This masculine card is not only a great 'save' it's gorgeous! I love the tone on tone of them both. Your 'fixes' are the best!
Hoi Kelly, the embossing 'mistakes' are just that in your eyes, I am just like that but nobody else will ever notice it. They are both super cards. loving whishes Aya
I wish I would "mess up" as well as you did with the gold embossing powder! I love the way the leaves turned out and then with the edges done, it is the icing on the cake. :D
WOW! You’re really GOOD!!! These are great looking cards & thanks so much for showing how to correct mistakes or things we may not like! I’m new to your channel :)
Both cards are beautiful Kelly! I feel your pain with your embossing issues; for me it always seems to be chancy regardless of how diligent I am using the embossing bag. Plus, doesn't always seem that things go awry when you're in a hurry? Anyway you conquered the problems and the cards are truly wonderful!
Even though I love olive green, I wasn’t feeling that masculine card - until you started stamping the leaves. Wow! Both cards are pretty, but that one became my favorite.
You need to win the lottery or something this work stuff just keeps getting in the way! 😂 both of those are so pretty I love that giant leaf. I really love the green one and when it started even though I do like Olive and Moss type colors I wasn't sure I was going to like that one. I never really thought about embossing the detail layer but I'm going to have to try to remember that. I do have one request, maybe slow down a little bit in the beginning when you're showing the products that you're using please. Even though that part isn't sped up it goes by too fast for my old broke brain to process. Also when you do have the coloring sped up if possible maybe slow down when you show the colors cuz sometimes I can't even pause quick enough for a still shot of the colors that you're using on a particular area. Thanks hun love your videos.
@@KellyTaylorCards oh okay cool I didn't know you could do that. I usually watching on the TV but I'll see if I can do that or if it's one that I have a trouble with I'll just pull it up on my phone. Thanks so much
Hey Kelly! Besides story time, and your fabulous cards you teach me how to make, I just want to let you know how much I appreciate and love that you keep in the mistakes! You have know idea what that means to me. We all make mistakes and get frustrated and your lesson here is not to give up and keep trying! So thank you so very much!! Anyway onto the cards both turn out beautiful! I really do love the honey bee enamel dots better...and if you had use the nuvo drops and made them as big as the others you might of had to wait a day or two. And I was wondering if you could have use the delicate ink pads(if you have any of course) In stead the embossing powder and clear ink? They used to have just gold and sliver now they have several other colors. I think TUSKINKO brand makes it. It would be only one step...plus probably a little drying! Lol! And the blue card did turn out fantastic... loved the flower with the intense background! Btw the sentiments for both card were perfect!! Thank you Kelly! Have a good weekend! ❤️
I don't have the Delicate but I do have the Altenew Pigment inks which are pretty similar. I could have used those but it doesn't give the dimensional look or the shine that embossing does. They are definitely a good alternative if you don't have metallic embossing powder though!
Beautiful cards.I had the same problem the otherday.I was embossing on distress oxide background I dried the background very well but when i springeled the de embossing poeder on top .IT was a mess.Embossingpowdwer everywhere.I had to start over .I couldnt fix it anymore. So make sure that the inkt background is dry.It takes for ever.
3 comments.... first of all these are BEAUTIFUL! Secondly THANK YOU for showing your struggles #notalone ! Lastly you can say anemone as easy as cat but Hippopotamus is hard! 😂😂😂
Was it raining when you struggled with the EP? And tape residue has messed me up before too. I use a teeny tiny nail art brush to remove excess embossing powder most of the time (you must have those!) but I’ve resorted to a needle or pin before.
Beautiful cards, I struggle with masculine cards and most of the cards I have to make are masculine, the cards I want to make are not. I think of Christmas cards are generic, they're supposed to be festive and sparkly and glittery and so far the men who get them love them.
Didn’t know you have to warm the drops up lol Kelly how did you learn how to color are you a natural artist because I throw more things away because can’t seem to get the coloring right. Do you recommend a goos class or is it just that some people are born artist and than there’s me??

I hold them in my hands or put it under my thigh while sitting there. Some people put them in their bras and that's supposed to work famously
