For foundation, you can put a fabricator on a dashbot producing foundation. That way it can place foundation one after another and only needs to pick up iron occasionally. It's quite fast.

Use a second dashbot to supply the iron?

    • @ronhatch9175

I was thinking about early mobile Fabricators today as a possible supply of plates and bars, when it suddenly hit me that it could be a better way to design a dedicated foundation bot. Lock slots, set it to deliver and request but not supply, and it will be the only bot that can fulfill foundation build requests. It can run out of foundations if you request too many at once, and in my testing it slowed down quite a bit when that happened since it would pick up a fairly small batch of bars and would prioritize placing as soon as it had built any more foundations at all... but even then, it's much faster than grabbing one at a time from a fixed location.
In any case, I came to the comments just to share that trick, only to find that other players are ahead of me. 🙂

@@ronhatch9175 That is so clever! Right now, I have a facility producing foundations on channel 4, and then my dashbot has a behavior, that says Check own inventory for less than 5 foundations. If true, pickup to 40, to continue bricklaying, but without having it go back an forth for only one foundation at a time.
But the solution could be further effective with a Twinbot, and own foundationproduction!

Hey, so after unlocking the Advanced Logistics tech, I started playing around with the radios and discovered a way to make a vacuum bot work FAR better than any behavior I've seen. Largely based on what you showed in this video, but with full coverage instead of needing to move nearby before it will detect.
The key is to use those power pylons you've got throughout your base. Throw a radar and radio transmitter on a few of them. (Adapt the spacing to your particular pylon layout... hover over the radar while full overlays are on to see the coverage.) Set the radar to look for dropped items, probably also with the filter to require they be in the power grid. Link the radar output to the transmitter and link the dropped items filter to the transmitter band (or just set it, but the link works better as a blueprint since you can change some to scan for enemies). I like to also change the light color to easily spot which pylons have radar and what they are scanning for.
Then make a bot with a radio receiver, set the band to dropped items, and link what's received to the Goto register. Set the Store register to wherever you want the results to end up, and you're done. If you use an appropriate pattern when placing the pylons, it's easy to achieve that oh-so-sweet full coverage of your base.

You can use this for guard bots too... If you are playing on Ageessive wildlife gamemode, bugs will occasionally attack you... You can use this kind of setup on your soldiers, have them run around looking for hostiles; when a tower finds an enemy, your army will automatically respond to the attack. Pretty helpful, but I get the feeling that most people who play this game play it like a factory game instead of a TDS/RTS

    • @ronhatch9175
      @ronhatch9175 Рік тому +1

@@natey313 Yeah, I immediately set up another set looking for enemies. Still haven't tried it on an aggressive world, but the more I play the more I become convinced that an RTS needs attacking waves of enemies.
I'll probably want a behavior on the defenders, since running straight in guns blazing doesn't seem like the best approach.

I ended up with a similar deconstructor bot as yours, but I discovered if you link the target to your go-to register you can actually just right-click on something to deconstruct. This also allows you to hold shift and queue multiple deconstructs at a time!

One thing about chaining production (5:46) is that if that's the only way you're producing dependencies, it's very slow. The nature of it means that only one of the two systems will be active at the same time and it gets even worse if you try to account for indirect dependencies in the same way

Improvement for the heal bot and the vacuum scout: You can link a second register to the move register (e.g., the signal register).
You'll get a red arrow, which will only push its value when there's nothing to push from the initial green arrow - there's a priority.
So you can attach your heal bot or your vacuum scout to another location or to your squad of attack units: They'll follow your units by default and only if the radar detects something, they'll move in to heal or pick up.
You could even drive the concept further and add a third location which is used in case your attack unit gets killed, e.g., go back to your base.
Desynced is a great playground, with a fantastic underlying conceptual framework 😄

In the Blight tech tree, you can unlock a blight magnifier to slowly regnerate nearby ressource and you can get a ressource converter too.
You could unlock warp device in the restricted demo but i did not see it yet.
If you restart with the higher ressources option make a lot of uplink tower, i use 11 of them and it greatly speed up the research time. (those 8000s tech are annoying). I'm still missing the Alien tech unlock though

      1. Set a bot to transport route mode (right click logistics button and check the box).
      2. Set the bot to GO TO the miner to pickup from (right-click the miner).
      3. Set the bot to STORE at the destination (CTRL-right-click the storage).

It needs to be on the same level as the programming language definition - detailed + debug I have wasted way too much time for trial and error method second guessing what some of them are and how to use them.
