Hi! I got this G today.. I changed from g-9100 gulfman. The 7900 is really comfortable, readable, soft buttons, great illuminator function. Best buy for G shockers who wants a durable watch for everyday. Dimensions: (housing) 54x50 mm
Just got mine, you’ll love it. To set up the lunitidal interval, which is the time after your longitude settings just take the meridian time the moon passed over your local area and the time of the high tide that followed the lunar meridian. The time between the one and the other is the time you put on the screen. So if the moon passed over at midnight and the next high tide was 4am then 4:00 goes on the screen. You can find the meridian and high tide for your local easily on google.
I just grabbed this on sale for $80 locally. I have a bunch of analog watches including a few autos. Funny how my least expensive watch will likely become my favourite. If you wanted to own only 1, this could be it. I have skinny wrists too and due to the little flaps under the case it fits perfectly.
Just picked up this watch for Christmas 2021! Love it! Perfect for surfing and I can now stay in the water longer before work. My iwatch can’t do this 😂

Yes, based on my reading of the G-7900 manual and the setup of that model I did yesterday....I think the tide indicator is TOTALLY keyed on the longitude that you manually indicate on initial time setup on the G-7900.
Nice video dude, very helpful :) only part i have a little problem with is the size since I usually wear small casio digitals. Do you think this will look big/oversized on a 7 inch wrist?
Thanks for that bro... well mine is 6 3/4 inch wrist, so slightly smaller but I think G-Shock resin cases somehow get away with the size where steel wouldn't. I even like wearing the huge 58mm Mudmaster :)

Ok i just got my watch and noticed that earlier as well ill look more into it.... because now its not doing it and i have not touched it after noticing
The auto light on this watch shuts itself off after a bit and needs to be turned back on by holding the top right button which I believe is the B Button

Yeah, I don't know much about tides but I reckon you could find some good info on the Casio section of WUS forums. As for temperature the problem is that if it's on wrist then your body temp is influencing it... I find the temp reading accurate when off wrist (not that useful for a watch!) or if worn outside a jacket layer etc.
Great review! Your video helped me a lot in setting mine. Thank you so much. 👍👍 I got it last week. Just one question though; How to know the production year? 🤔

hey friend, I have a Casio with moon phase and tide graph, not g-shock. but I think the functions are similar to your g-shock. is it normal that the tide data isn't accurate? the moon phase seems OK
What module watch do you have? Accurate moon and tide depends on inputting accurate coordinates and local time, assuming the watch calendar is not out of date. For most models there is also a way to manual correct the displayed time or moon phase based on real local data where you are.
Yes, unless your city is one of the presets, you should input the longitude and the lunitidal interval manually. FYI for any Casio models, you can download the user manuals anytime and find out this information.
Hey mate, I just got one of these for Christmas, and have entered the longitude and interval, but when I press mode it goes to tide and doesn't show moon, is that normal?
Cool, it’s a great G-shock! I don’t have the watch anymore but I think the tide/moon mode shows either tide or moon at one time and you may have to switch between them, or something like that. I might be wrong - would suggest consulting the user guide which explained it quite clearly.
@@PerthWAtch thanks mate will take a further look tomorrow, I have seen some videos that just show tide also. Thanks for replying tonight as well. Merry Christmas.
Yes, totally has to do with longitude -- I found this out when replacing the battery on the G-7900 watch yesterday that my son "handed down" to me. During initial time setup, you should have the option to set up the longitude, and (I believe) this is how/where your watch figures the high/low tides for your general area. I live in the D.C. area, so I assume it's providing high/low tide info for the Potomac River....your mileage may vary. :)
Hi, I’ve just bought this watch on ebay second hand. I noticed the band wobbles side to side where it joins the case. I’ve never experienced this with any other G shock. Is this normal for this model? Thank you
I just tested it on mine. When it is very silent in the room or when I bring it to my ear I hear faintly the light sound. I tried on other watches with strong night light and same happened
I think go into settings mode and there should be an option to chance to 24 hour time display... if in doubt just google the module number and you can get the PDF manual download.
That's the flash alert indicator - when this is on the whole display will flash when alarms sound. This can be turned off by holding down the bottom right button for 3 seconds when in timekeeping mode.
*_When selected, the Flash function also works in Countdown Timer Mode, flashing once every second for the last 10 seconds of the Timer, with accompanying beeps. It finally flashes twice when the Timer reaches zero. I can't recall if the display flashes at the 5 minute mark if the Countdown Timer has been set over 5 mins. The Flash also illuminates at the beginning of every hour, when selected. Lastly, the Flash is operational in Stop Watch 1 Mode, when you elect to run the 5 second Countdown Timer before the chronograph in Stop Watch Mode commences. This is indeed a nice piece!!!_*
Sorry to hear that Jemila... that's the button to turn on the EL back light, and should not have caused the watch to stop working. It may be that your watch ran out of battery just at that time?
I think this watch is for surfers and people going out in the sea. An average person don't need those functions and pretty much useless for us cause I'm not a sea person or surfer. Those feature stopped me to buy this particular model...

@@PerthWAtch thanks mate will take a further look tomorrow, I have seen some videos that just show tide also. Thanks for replying tonight as well. Merry Christmas.
Could you please help how to get AEL enabled on this model? I’m still figuring out the same
I would take a look at the instructions
Which model number has the blue EL backlight?
Dunno man
Beautiful Beast!
Haha
I bought it yesterday Cheers Mate!
Cool - hope you enjoy it :)
Perth WAtch Yes, I'm really liking it. Your review was of immense help. 👍 Thanks! :)
how can show all the line on the right at the top of the mode( stopwatch),please^^
Hi there, sorry I don't really understand your question...
What year was this model manufactured?
Is thailand made original?
Not sure what year. Yep many Casio are made in Thailand these days.
why i mine doesn't have the flash word beside the day of the week
Dunno, check manual?
Mine has green EL light, how come you have a blue one?
Hi there - I'm not sure, I think there may be some variation in the EL panel they use, sometimes it's described as blue-green.
I have this model and my light is green also
Guys does anyone know how I set up moon phase? Is its to do with longitude etc?
Probably just check instructions
Yes, totally has to do with longitude -- I found this out when replacing the battery on the G-7900 watch yesterday that my son "handed down" to me. During initial time setup, you should have the option to set up the longitude, and (I believe) this is how/where your watch figures the high/low tides for your general area. I live in the D.C. area, so I assume it's providing high/low tide info for the Potomac River....your mileage may vary. :)
I doubt it’s specific to the Potomac - there’s lots of other places at the same places at the same longitude
Lovely watch
Thanks :)
One question:how can i change it to digital???
No need, it is already digital :)
Sir can avail in Pakistan? And how much?
Dunno. I would use Google to find out.
Hi, I’ve just bought this watch on ebay second hand. I noticed the band wobbles side to side where it joins the case. I’ve never experienced this with any other G shock. Is this normal for this model? Thank you
Most band wobble a little... all depends on tolerances how much they wobble.
I just tested it on mine. When it is very silent in the room or when I bring it to my ear I hear faintly the light sound. I tried on other watches with strong night light and same happened
How can I change it to a military time. We have the same model
I think go into settings mode and there should be an option to chance to 24 hour time display... if in doubt just google the module number and you can get the PDF manual download.
When its pm just in the red button once and that will give u 24h time
I don’t think it does that
If anyone has this, are the buttons metal? And does it feel high quality and heavy?
Buttons are plastic
Perth WAtch, thanks.
Plastic and relatively lightweight - but very tough.
I wear this beauty much more than my gwg-2k
Why?
@@PerthWAtch
Why not?
Because
Does it have solar energy?
Nope
My watch has pixels missing, the moon flashes and the light isnt working
Maybe it’s a knockoff??
@@PerthWAtch maybe
But I did get it second hand so
:/
Nice GSHOCK ❤
Yes it is ❤️
AM PM adjustment please
I would look up the manual which can be downloaded for free ;)
Great review
Thanks for positive feedback as for watching! :)
I bought it yesterday
greeting from indonesia..
Awesome - hope you enjoy it!
What is flash column on top right side function? Did anyone know?
That's the flash alert indicator - when this is on the whole display will flash when alarms sound. This can be turned off by holding down the bottom right button for 3 seconds when in timekeeping mode.
@@PerthWAtch thanks for your info
A video that actually explains it
That’s amazing!
For the world clock mode how do i put pm or am
Go into settings
@@PerthWAtch can you swim with this watch
Yes
@@PerthWAtch last question how long
Very very long
just got it today
You like?
@@PerthWAtch its nice
How to mute the watch pls? I see the 'mute' on the screen but i can't mute it can u help me
Easiest just to look up the module number (on back of watch) and download manual, it's available for free from Casio :)
Nguyễn Thành Trung hold down the mode button for 3 sec
When I activate the light I can hear a slight humming coming from the watch. Does this happen to anyone else?
Not to me...
Oohh yes..mine sounds the same way
Someone else explained that that’s electronic circuitry noise, but that it shouldn’t normally be audible in a G-shock
How much the original price convert to RM(Ringgit Malaysia)
Good question - please let me know when you find out after using Google ;)
Its RM339
Thanks for helping out Danny :)
@@PerthWAtch no problemo :)
Man, come on, use the internet for these basic questions.
Is this still worth it in 2020?
Take a look and decide for yourself - I think for under $100 it remains a fantastic G-shock!
Definitely. Cheap and already have a moon phase and tide indicator. I'll get this or the GD-350-1B.
How i input istanbul int. ?
The instruction manual will reveal the answers to these questions and much more :)
Why my luminous light is green?
Dunno
If your G-9700 got PS (power saving) that means your have a fake G-7900.. Its also dint have a tiny sound like mosquito when you press G button..
Thank you for sharing your opinion. How do you explain that official manual downloaded from Casio website explains PS function?
Hi, I pressed the G under shock resist and the watch stopped working. Please can anyone help with a solution.
Sorry to hear that Jemila... that's the button to turn on the EL back light, and should not have caused the watch to stop working. It may be that your watch ran out of battery just at that time?
Perth WAtch Thank you for your help
No worries - most welcome!
What is this moon and tide plz replay
The moon is the largest natural satellite orbiting the earth. Tide refers to the fluctuation in sea level with gravitational influences.
@@PerthWAtch I know that i want to know what is fuction of moon and tide in this watch
Ah I see! It shows the moon phase and tide level at your location - check out the video to see how to works :)
@@PerthWAtch Thanq defently i will subscribe your channel and 1 more this watch how know the phrase plz replay 😂😂😂
I want to buy this so i want to know that this black colour is full in that circle is new moon or full moon ?
Hi sir neega tamil solluga pls sport watch la codeing parkkanum pls sir
What?
@@PerthWAtch LOL!!!
Can you swim with it?
Yes
I think this watch is for surfers and people going out in the sea. An average person don't need those functions and pretty much useless for us cause I'm not a sea person or surfer. Those feature stopped me to buy this particular model...
Maybe also people who go fishing regularly? (But not necessarily out at sea)
