I’m new to watching these clips, and in one of the songs never forget it said once you listen to his craft or hear him speak, it is like you’ve known him for 20 years. I ain’t from texas or born but i sure as hell wanna be because this man feels like family to me mane. Crazy, i pray God is watching screw use his craft well in heaven. Thank you kyu, you a real one in the game and i appreciate these clips probably makes my dad feel at home in those times makes me feel like i am in my own zone of home. His love for every is everything that the almighty loves. Man if i could meet screw i’d tell him i love him like family. 🙏🏾🔩
Yeah he was a great friend to have in our life. I miss him every day. You right he had a great influence in All our lives. Screw would have wanted me to show this footage. All blessings be to you and your family family 🙏.and thanks for the kind words. -Screw love.- 💕
For many you got to be a DJ to understand but Screw would record his tapes live and do some parts over cause he gone take a part out, that he might not want to keep on it. Like Him playing Big Pokey " Ball & Parlay Instrumental" and then blending to Point Blank " Southside Groovin". He did it over. Cause the first try it came off beat to much. So he did it over and on the second time it was a perfect blend. So he was already playing Ball & Parlay. So he will just add the second part (perfect blend) to the first part and then put the perfect blend in. Basically putting the perfect blend then going to Southside groovin playing (the second time) connecting with the instrumental before the first mess up (coming off beat to much). Kyu-Boi do you know if this tape was ever released? I would love to listen how the finished product came out. Also many say that Screw played his records at regular speed when doing his mixes live (Yes its not as slow as the finished product) but Screw would start the records at -8 on Technics 1200's and then go from there. The voices would be regular speed live but the first record starts at -8 and then when Screw would do the finished product he would slow it down again... slowing it down with the tape deck to -8 making the Music -16 and the voices would be down to -8. This is why on a Screw Tape the voices don't sound as slow as a Swisha House tape. Im interested to see the continuation as well cause Screw was blending in Black Rob Whoa Instrumental and it was falling off beat a lot too. Interesting to see if he just plays Southside Groovin again and does the Black Rob over again or does he just leaves it there. Especially on the finished product. Another thing im curious about is if Screw took the time to write down the BPM's on most of his vinyls. When I first started Djing years ago before Serato & all the digital stuff I eventually started writing all the BPMs on my Records and that really helped in getting to know off the top of my head the BPM's. Anyway much love to you Kyu-Boi for putting this out and much love to DJ Screw, DJ Ron G, DJ Premier, DJ Jelly, DJ Michael Watts & DJ OG Ron C who I fill all of them in there own right were like Radio Stations in there area. They had just as many listeners or even more than the Big Radio Stations in there Area and they all have done more for Hip Hop and Artists then many can imagine. Anyway Man! RIP Screw this was 2 days before he passed according to Kyu-boi.
