Just want to say as a member at Nottingham I love the new electric karts. The track stayed the same and lap times are very similar when on speed 4. As a heavyweight driver electric karts mean i can compete more with the lighter drivers. The problem isn't the electric karts its the massive track changes as well as combat karts.
Went yesterday - the new track layouts are terrible and its an ice rink there now. Unexperienced drivers just spin out every 5 seconds as they cant control the power of the Bitz karts. the staff know that the track is an issue but seing as this has been going on for months now i expect nothing will change
Fascinating, the old Reading looked fire. Also, disheartening to know every TS location will be electrified by 2026, while I dont mind them, I prefer petrol karts and the variety of petrol or electric across locations is nice.
Nottingham went electric at the start of June and has been very troublesome. They ended up with Watfords old fleet after they had issues with them overheating. not so much of an issue at nottingham apart from a couple of days where it halted the track, but mostly due to them being second hand the batteries were finished in most of the karts meaning they break down before the end of the session and some of the charging modules are faulty and not allowing the karts to fully charge. Even worse for the Cadets with there not being as many karts, nearly everytime the Academy sessions were running there was a breakdown, not to mention they were 6 seconds off the petrol times so the kids only had to brake once in a whole lap. Since the start of September they have been increased to a higher setting and changed the slippery E-kart tyres for the grippy petrol ones but the breakdown issue is being managed not fixed. the BIKC local finals for the Cadets ended up being the last race of the night at 10:10pm. 8-12 year olds racing waaay past their bedtimes on a schoolday is not acceptable. The staff are fantastic and are doing all they can with the tools that Teamsport HQ are providing but Teamsport HQ need to stop dragging their heels and listen to their staff and all the regulars that are complaining. Nottingham Teamsport is on life support and needs help.
Although Notts has had issues you can't really compare it to reading. Track layout is still the same and the electric karts have been fun to drive since the new tyres. The members scene is still strong unlike reading. I do feel bad for the cadets though, being that far off petrol times is rough and not only that but the skill gap is so small. The biggest problem with teamsport right now is changing track layouts too much to accommodate electric karts. Combat karts should not be added to every multi storey track it would be really bad for their member retention in the long term.
This is a great video highlighting the downfall of reading, as much as I don't like driving in electric karts I probably would have still attended based on it still being a 900m track, however shortening the track to accommodate a split for combat kart and keeping the cost the same just seemed unjustified. Its a shame 😢
Great Video! I've never been to this track before, but hearing what's happened to it over the years makes me realise how much it has downgraded. I'm not a big fan of these new electric karts, But unfortunately at some point, petrol karts might not be a thing at teamsport anymore!
There is some pros and cons for Reading. Pros are, the building it self is much better, bowling, bigger sitting/dinning area etc. Truthfully i quite like the Sodi eletric karts, i think they are quite nice and feels good for indoor track. Ofc i will always prefer petrol but i think the reason why they those eletric because they are easily maintained and each kart have the same speed compared to petrol, you either get a good kart or a bad kart. Con side is the track, you are 100% right. The track is very boring and it took away the character of what Reading is. I miss the final corner coming down 3rd floor into a long right hander where the pit entry and exit is. It always felt good to get that one right. Also when I did a vlog at reading shortly after the opening, the combat karts are not popular and also super under reliable. Software kept crashing and sometimes just doesnt work at all and only allowed limited amount of people on the track.
Thanks for the feedback!! Defo agree that the off-track experience is much better, with this video I was trying to make an introduction unbiased overview, so I’m happy you like it. Interesting facts about combat karts, didn’t know that!
Nice video! I assume it’s meant to be the unexpected downfall of the REPUTATION of the track not just the track itself, but except for that, nice video
Mentioning in comments: The Marshalls at Teamsport Reading are great, and at the end of the day, its just rental karting, so its not a big deal!

Old Reading was something else 😔, new reading a bit like stoke Tbf, slightly better karts and worse track imo than stoke
@@IsaacKarting tracks fine mate you just haven't driven it when its not an ice rink

Electric karts in Newcastle go into limp mode for no reason. The new track layout is ok. Old track layout was a beast.
