Amazing how P.Bernstein almost do not use his pinky finger when soloing. Still very fluid and lyrical !

Peter uses heavy gauge strings and the pinky is a pretty weak finger so he probably doesn't think it gives him the power he needs, Peter puts his heart and soul into every note.
