No wonder critics could not put this group into a box. They played with so many different types of sounds. Want rock? ok. Hard, soft or pop? ummhmm. Some 30's jazz-ma-taz? gotcha covered. Bit of 40's blues? done. oh? Japanese sound? sure. Movie soundtracks? pffft, of course. Anthem/stadium rock? done, done & done... (and more I'm sure I've missed). GREAT REACTIONS! I've subscribed.
The term is called panning and most of their songs have it in some form. They used it to perfection! Queen MUST be heard with headphones to truly get the depth of their music. Loving your reactions!! Keep up the amazing work.
Watching your face during this was a real treat. This is a ragtime style tune. Love it. To me it sounds very much like Queen but I’ve been listening to them nice the 70s. They had so many styles or genres that they used to great effect. Brian May said that even in any one song they tried not to repeat themselves . . Great reaction again, thank you. Oh I think you should listen to Seaside Rendevous and Sleeping on the Sidewalk too. Both of those will surprise you.
Oh, yeah - Sleeping on the Sidewalk - and other Brian songs like: Leavin' Home (ain't easy) '39 and one that almost nobody recognizes: "Some Day One Day" - ua-cam.com/video/Pj_cCTSwcAc/v-deo.html
I’m sure it’s been mentioned already but this was also a nod to an American artist named Jim Croce who had a big hit called Bad Bad Leroy Brown and was killed in a plane crash. Just one thing to say - Seaside Rendezvous for an equally amazing song that was so different than the Queen songs that you normally hear. And yes, this is totally Queen!😊
I always wondered if there was a connection to Jim Croce, but hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere. I remember exactly where I was when I heard Jim had died. This isn't one of my favorite Queen songs, but I love their diversity and mad skills. The creativity is off the charts! Major props to any artist who is confident in their vision and looking to grow.
There’s several documentaries that show Freddie and Brian at the mixing desk “panning” the sounds. They were always playing with the knobs etc and talking to Mack, the engineer, telling him how they wanted the sounds. This was back before stereo was common place. They were always ahead of the times! You know the BoRap little movie, as they called it, was the first MTV type video ever. It was said in a documentary that if not for their BoRap video, MTV and VH1 would not have developed when they did. The super low voice was actually Freddie. There’s nothing that man couldn’t sing!
20's-30's big band...I love this song because it's a wonderful tornado of musical instruments, like you said, one instrument in one ear, while another playing in the other...lol. Brilliant. Not only was there a genre they couldn't play, but can play any era of time as well 😀
Freedom was very important to Queen. They did not compose for a particular audience, but expected their fans to adapt to their different styles. They found that early on they were no longer just a rock band for teenyboppers, but for serious music fans. They have what is probably the world's most loyal fan base. They got a bit more commercial in the 80's, but there was always some experimentation. Freddie would say there were no messages in their songs, that they were open to interpretation. One written by Brian, Put Out the Fire, from the Hot Space Album seems to be a bit of criticism aimed at the gun culture in the U.S. Worth a listen.
Tyvm for another great reaction💖💕👑Queen is such a diverse band, from heavy metal glam, to rock, to ragtime, disco, pop, and Freddie even doing opera. They did it all💖👑Only headphones for Queen music is so right on😂it's the only way to hear all the individual instruments and cool sound effects they did, like bouncing from right to left, and harmony multilayerings that they were famous for. That's a ukulele, and like in MarchOfTheBlackQueen you can hear the use of cathedral bells. Super Dope. 💖💖💕💕👑👑
@@HAP3SPEAKZ - That's not a ukulele. I play banjo and ukulele and that was a banjo, a short neck tenor banjo to be exact as opposed to a plectrum, a claw hammer or bluegrass banjo. All are different and played a bit differently.
Another favorite fun tune of mine. I just confirmed all the voices (Lead and back-up) are Freddie Mercury. This album was done when Brian was in the hospital. He said they input his guitar, etc when he returned. Queen didn't shirk team work (or any work).
I like that they have many different style of song! I like the vibe of this song. Another my favourite is also different sound the Dreamers ball. Great reaction!
I don't care what anyone else says,I agree with you. I find it hard to recognize a base sound that is Freddie's. I'm no expert just a Freddie fan. Thank you! Another great reaction. I love the intelligent analysis you give. Bohemian Rhapsody featured a lot of the back and forth from ear to ear. They loved being experimental. Can I give you some more suggestions? Add them to the bottom of your list lol. Love of my Life! I don’t think you done that one yet, but you must. The live versions are the best. Rio has 100,000 Brazilians who can’t speak English, singing the song back to Freddie, and the Wembley version is also fantastic. Too Much Love Will Kill You, written by Brian when he was going through his marriage breakup, will break your heart. There’s two versions, one sung by Freddie and another by Brian, both are beautiful, but I guess Brian’s is more personal given that he wrote it. That’ll do for now 😃 Please keep your Queen reactions coming, you’re teaching me to listen to their music differently, and I appreciate it. You know what you’re talking about
Altho stereo was first developed in the 1930's for theaters, home equipment didn't become widely available until the 60's, which is why 'rockers' really took advantage of it as new technology. 4:16 That was Freddie but it was like Edited. Freddie couldn't go that deep 😂. He probably hit an G2 F2 E2 or D2 with his real voice there. But here it sounded like the deepest ever which would make it maybe an D1. Freddie's lowest note was F2 so this had to be edited, and this is not the only time they used something to make the Voice different. So yes that was Freddie but Voice edited. That does not mean that they can't hit high notes or Low notes of course. They were always Real, they rarely used something like that. Not that you think they are faking their High notes or other Low notes now 😂 but yes they did very rarely used something to make the Voice sound different. But when they did edit the voice it mostly was for deep notes or normal talk Voice, the high notes were always real by Freddie and Roger. A great example is *_Queen - In The Lap Of The Gods (Official Lyric Video)._* Freddie was singing absolutely normal but they just thought of ''why not change Freddie's Voice deeper a bit?'' on that song you'll notice the difference between Freddie's normal singing voice and of course the edit that they made over it. All the high notes on that Song are by Roger. (as I said they were real.)
Definitely a shout out to Jim Croce being killed in a plane crash in 1974. He had a hit song called “Bad, bad Leroy Brown”. Queen loved to work the mixing board and loved panning the music to each side. Brian May was sick during most of this album. They were touring in the US as the opening act for Mott the Hoople. They had to cut it short and return home. Brian got Hepatitis from a vaccine. When he recovered, he added his contributions to the album. Seaside Rendezvous is similar but very short. They used their mouths to simulate trumpets and kazoos. Freddie and Roger banged their fingers on the mixing board wearing thimbles to simulate the tap dancing part. The new music stinks IMO. The movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” is terrible. I don’t care about the timeline changes, but it was full of half-truths and downright lies. The low voice was Freddie’s voice, electronically lowered. No, he couldn’t sing THAT low! Other bands did this splitting of sound as well before them. I am so used to it, I forget about it, until I am listening to something like Millionaire Waltz with only one earbud in and think, “Hey, where’s the piano? Oh, yeah. Duh.” 🤦♀️
There is a little song called Mustapha, it has an unique sound, should i say oriental, eastern? 🤔🤷♀️With arabic words maybe? When you have The Time, maybe check it out.

In the movie they showed them suspending equipment from the ceiling and literally swinging it from right to left to get that shift of sound
They made the panning sound on the mixing desk in production.
They swung the mike
Deep voice was Freddie (slowed down). I love this song and glad you appreciate their seemingly limitless imagination.
Try Death on two legs, great lyrics💀😂
This has been popping up a lot in the comments. 🤯 I am very excited to get to it. 💥

Freddie sang alot of bass. I assume that was him.
That's the real question.

apparently it was their sound engineer mike stone
Hiya, Queens take on Dixieland i think is the genre. Love your breakdown matey!
Oh, yeah. Duh.” 🤦♀️
Low voice. Slowed up track. They made all the sounds themselves. Piano playing is great. Thimbles on fingers
That deep baritone voice was prolly Freddie lol
That wasn't baritone, it was that deep it was already Bass. It was Freddie yes but it was Edited and not him really going that deep to Bass.
@@ben1ben I was typing it as I was on the go. So for lack of a better word, I just use it..(it was spur of the moment). :)
Stay cool guys 😎 keep it positive
You want another song like this..... Good Company by Queen
It's so diffrent, but you can just tell it's Queen
Dixieland meets Opera!
Roy Thomas Baker, the producer
There is a little song called Mustapha, it has an unique sound, should i say oriental, eastern? 🤔🤷♀️With arabic words maybe? When you have The Time, maybe check it out.
Never heard of it. But thank you for recommending it. I'll have to consider it in the future though. 💜

React to Breakthru. The video is recorded while they are riding the top of a train. Yes Fred was sick here.
The Miracle and. The invisible man are two suggestions I think you would like.
Ragtime.
Bet you havent seen Roger Taylor's drum solo Montreal 1981. Its great.
you were right to go with the official lyric version first, the live versions were only instrumental apart from the odd "my cutie pie" but a great fun song 👑✊🇬🇧
Cheers John! Can never be sure. Had to trust the gut on this one. 👑🎶

Of course, it’s Queen, there is a live video. You can’t miss Freddie
Sorry, couldn't finish your video due to the constant stoping. Good luck!
Hi. I don't always constantly stop. Just depends on the music but check my playlist and you'll find others where I don't stop as often? Hope you enjoy.
