When you realize Melvin is the healthiest (physically) and most educated boy in the kingdom after learning the Prince's lessons and eating the Prince's veggies (which are higher quality and cleaner). Only downside is a sore bum and dealing with Prince Tarby himself!!!
It's true, when Melvin grows up, he'll have a better future than Prince. If Santa or Krampus didn't take the Prince away. If the prince is alive, he'll live a miserable life since his father is no longer there to spoil him and protect him from punishment.
I wonder what happened to the queen? She's sure to be devastated that her husband was chopped up, yet relieved at the same time that she doesn't have to put up with him again. And no doubt the prince will probably behave better now.
I remember reading this from boo where r l stein gives his influences in horror the time period in this comic is shakie at best but then again maybe the crypt keeper is drunk on egg nog
I hate to say this, but that Prince Tarby is a complete inconsiderate brat. And his father, the King, is no different. He just lets his son get away with his mischief and refuses to discipline him and ignores his wife's demands to do so. That prince takes advantage of his title as the "prince who never did wrong". And not only that, but they force a family to give their son to him to become the Prince's royal punching bag! The prince takes full advantage of this as well! Forcing the boy to endure every punishment for every wrongdoing that should've have been for the prince and not him. And the prince even makes fun of the boy, comparing him to himself as he was the "whipping boy". Fuck that little shit! Serves that damn old king right!

This was a story of bad parenting and the consequences of not disciplining the child who deserved the punished. I bet the prince is getting spank by krampus for all eternity.

The Tales from the Crypt and the Haunt and the Vault are always great, but it's the Grim Fairy Tales that always seem to rise above.
It has a good moral lesson and also a warning of bad parenting.

Wish it was a Tales from the Crypt episode. I can see Santa killing the king with an ax while the spoiled prince being taken and spank by the Krampus.
