Soooo very nice when Kuya Luis talked about acknowledging all the effort he made in training where there were no cameras and no applause. He's right, those are the moments when the heart and mind of an athlete gets tested for real. Champions are always built, they are never born that way and have to work for years to get where they are.

I hope that Luis and Caloy further elaborate the issue about mental health. How he cope and give importance to his well being. It is important for the young athlete to know that aspect especially if they are inspiring to be like Carlos Yulo. I also want to see a deep and another facets of this interview. @@user-rk6gg8wc5i yes.. npakabata pa ni Carlos Yulo. Only 24 yrs old? Tapos ganun yung na-experience nya sa family nya particularly sa mother nya. Mabuti na lng may mga nagbigay sa kanya ng support outside his family na mlaki ang naitulong sa mental health nya.
Carlos admitted that he got depressed while in Japan and even wanted to just disappear in this world. Imagine being so young in a foreign country, away from friends and family, cannot even communicate well with people around you, all alone and all you can do is just train and train. Thank God he survived that and he seems to be in a much better place now mentally and emotionally.

He actually did an interview with Ms. Bernadette Sembrano where Caloy mentioned he had intrusive thoughts of suicide while he was in Japan. It was hearbreaking to hear to be honest. He was just a young man back then fighting his own demons. That's why he is always vocal about prioritizing mental health.

Carlos deserved to be appreciated kasi dugo't pawis nya pinanglaban pra sa Pilipinas. Sana yun family issues iset aside ng mga tsismosa dahil unang una hndi nman related sa sports ang tsismis. Wala nman kau pakialaman qng ano nangyari sa buhay nyan kasi di nman kau kasama nyan simula ngstart sya..Hindi nyo din alam qng ano nging struggle nya. Sabi nga binebless ni God yun may mabuting puso..Oh kung masamang anak yan si Carlos eh di sana hindi yan nanalo at hindi mo mkikita qng gaano sya kasaya sa mga totoong nagmamahal at nagpapasaya sa kanya.. Kaya nga Good Job kay Luis dahil matino ang interview nya..

Bat ako naiyak dun sa last part? Yes kuya Luis tama ka. Yung moment na di natin nakikita yun yung pinaka i congratulate. Yrs and yrs of practice. Kamay nya sobrang kalyo na yan sigurado. Mga moment na bumagsak at mga injury dinna mabilang. Yung panahon na mag isa lang sya sa Japan walang makausap, kakain mag isa, hirap din makausap gawa ng language gap to think teenager pa lang. Sana maglabas sya ng autobiography. My book ako by Gabby Douglas isang decorated US gymnast in the London olympics di ko ma imagine mga struggles mas mahirap pa sila kesa buhay ni Caloy. Hirap din mg training talagang sinakripisyo ang pagkabata for olympics. Good thing with Gabby napaka supportive ng family nya esp nanay. Caloy and Simone Biles on the other hand unfortunately share the same family issues. Both gymnasts still dealing with that issue right now but praying maayos na. It looks like Caloy is traumatized talking about family. Take your time to heal Caloy. We are rooting for you. Wag ka padadala sa mga negative. At young age of 17, nagpnta xa sa Japan to train, parang ofw lng...sabrang tiis at hirap..ibang iba sa pilipinas. Sa culture, sa language, ksm lng sa apartment ay coach. Di nya na enjoy ang kabataan nya dahil sa pangarap..nakaka homesick ang ganun...pero nakaya pa rin nya makapagtapos ng pag aaral...at nag excell sa gymnastics bringing home 2 golds from olympics... his story is very inspiring.. sobrang sakripisyo nya ..

Sa mga nagpupumilit pa rin na ikonekta yung pamilya nya magtigil na kayo. Sabi nga nya napatawad na nya yung mama nya.
