As a German I find this doubly hilarious: First because it's a brilliantly funny mash-up. Second because their translations is full of adorable mistakes :D
The translation is intentionally bad, it's known as Deutcshlish. Using just enough German to sound foreign but using English syntax and grammar so it can be understand by English speakers who probably only had a few years of German lessons at school. It's common in English language films featuring German characters, particularly those set during World War II.
@@gwishart It's mostly stuff like using the wrong grammatical gender for German words, and they used one wrong participle (it should be "Knie gebeugt", not "gebogen"). Otherwise the syntax and grammar are pretty good. I don't think those mistakes actually do anything for English speakers as it doesn't sound closer to English than the correct words would be. So if it's intentional, it's probably just to be funny... which it is :D
Back in the day when Autobahn first came out (yes I am old now 🤣) my mate was driving us to a nightclub that was about 20 mins from the town where we lived and we were about half way there and the radio station put Autobahn on by Kraftwerk - we were huge Bowie Roxy Stones Zeppelin Faces fans and went to loads of concerts - neither of us had ever heard of Kraftwerk before though - we also were both epic non stop talkers - the experience was just weird - we both stopped talking and then we sat in the car park waiting for the end of the track (10 mins) and we were both stunned - we had never heard anything like it before and we both went out the next day and bought the album - it wasn’t the brilliance of the music so much as it was just how unique it was back then - sometimes things like that just happen and when they do you never forget them
I became a big fan of KraftWerk back in the early 70’s , I rarely ever heard them on the radio except for college radio stations….. I also became a big fan of Brian Eno ….. something about the synthesizer just clicked 🤣
I just laughed and hooted at this whilst viewing on headphones in my hospital bed. Haven't felt so good in a week. Funny looks from the other patients, and the nurse is lookingnervous.
I was lucky enough to see Bill Bailey on this tour. I had a front row seat. It was one of the best standup performances I’ve ever seen. And, when he got to the Kraftwerk homage, I just lost it. It was incredible I remember struggling to breathe, and feeling like I was going to vomit, because I was laughing so much. Good times haha.
The first time I saw this I could hardly breathe through laughing. I now keep it on my pc for when I am feeling really miserable - it never fails to make me smile.

You think that's bad, he and Jim Jeffries were touring NZ about the same time, and I went to the wrong show. Jeffries was hungover, tired, and sat on the stage for the last 20 minutes taking suggestions from the audience. Bailey would have been way funnier, and I don't think he's touring anymore.

I saw him at Bournemouth with this routine, the audience was creased up, and it was probably the most popular part of the show that night. He's a genius, and I am looking forward to the next tour.
I got last minute tickets for Bill Bailey's 'Tinselworm' show in Manchester around 2007. My gf at the time had never seen him but had the time of her life. We were stuck in traffic trying to get out of the arena car park for over an hour, but we enjoyed the show so much it wasn't a bother. Love Bill!
Oh my Gawd! Watch it first and then again but now turn on auto-generated English subtitles as others have said below - just do it. Oh crikey, I was in tears.
This is GOOD! For may decades I am a fan of Kraftwerk and this I see as a tribute to the very danceable music of Kraftwerk, I happen to notice this was made with the help of Apple's Garageband, one of the samples I recognised. Fantastic!

There's always been more to Bill Bailey than meets the eye. 2024, 50 years after Autobahn, and this is still freakin hilarious.

Kevin Eldon really does look like he belongs in every electronic band ever.
