    I'm glad you're recovering all of that e waste. I fix vintage electronics, too. The only non-scrap value of that haul would be tearing down every PC to component parts and selling pieces over many years on eBay. That would require selling the items as untested or tons of labor testing components. I see no museum pieces there. For museum pieces you're looking for complete items that were expensive in their day. Most of that stuff was mid to low end in its day. People who are creating vintage PCs want to build something that they could not afford back in the day, so the highest end components are what you're looking for. For example I recently bought a top of the range Socket 370 processor from 20 years ago and I paid about $70 US for it. You're lucky to get $5 (scrap value after fees) for most Socket 370 processors. Hope this provides some insight into the importance of recycling. Most people buy low end or slightly better than low end junk that's good for a few years and is then is forever worth scrap value.

    OMG what an amazing score. You could spend a year scrapping all of that. I helped clean out a hoarder house once. It's so hard for people who don't suffer from hoarding syndrome to understand. And we scrappers need to be careful that we don't become hoarders. Looking forward to seeing what you find to keep in your collection.

    • @eWasteBen
      @eWasteBen  3 роки тому +5

      I think hoarding syndrome is complex, many possible underlying causes.
      I respect hoarders but there's a point I think they may take it over the top and I don't understand that level.
      But this guy was also an electrical repair man, he worked for the military ordinance factory as an electrical engineer, there's a hundred super technical books on electronics he had, I think he was a genius but an eccentric

    Wow, I've worked with hoarders in my hypnosis practice. The condition doesn't make sense to non hoarders but all I have is compassion for them. Most clients finish in a few sessions. Hoarding is incredibly complicated. Hoarders have to think of a year of weekly appointments. In the end, I'd bet the hoarder would be glad you are making good use of that stash.

    At around the 31:50 mark that’s an old 8 inch floppy drive, possibly Shugart brand? On the corner of the drive that’s the motor that turned the flywheel and floppy, not a transformer. Also regarding the oscilloscopes you should grab any Hewlett-Packard or Tektronix brand test equipment you see there. Both are good for gold chip and transistor content, plus some Tektronix scopes (the ones with the partially ceramic CRT) have gold coating on the inside of the CRT.

    Glad that was not in your house.🤣. Cords and wires alone would be a good load. Hope you can get it all. Would be nice if you have a temporary storage place , looks like you need some space. Glad to see you properly process this stuff. 100K 👍👍👍
